simon riley who you "meet" through a program where you can send care packages to soldiers. you don't think much of it at first, just a simple package with a few necessities and treats. and along with that, a short, but genuine and handwritten letter thanking the unknown soldier to you for their service.

and when you go to retrieve your mail a few weeks later after getting home from work, brows furrowing together as you shuffle through the stack of envelopes.

bill. another bill. advertisement. paycheck. handwritten addressed envelope from 'ghost'.

your brain doesn't even connect the dots until you are inside, fingers gently picking at the envelope until your able to drag a finger through the seal to open it. a simple piece of what looks like notebook paper is pulled from inside. unfolding it, eyes quickly scan the letter to get an idea what it's about.

you've done plenty of care packages before. never did you get a personalized thank you letter back, so, this was a first. the letter starting off by thank you for the package and that he enjoyed the items, especially the "sweet treats". the two words put in quotations as he referred to what you referred to them as in your own letter. your own brain cringing slightly as you remember what you wrote.

again, thank you for all that you do and enjoy the sweet treats!

and while you expected the letter to end after thanking you, it didn't. additional lines asking about you. the sets of questions ranging from asking how long have you been doing the care packages to general questions about yourself. then, at the very end, after signing off as 'ghost', you couldn't help but notice the chicken scratch of handwriting that added:

Wow I went off- but you need to start recognizing your own unhealthy behaviors, so you can become better and healthier for yourself in your friendships. It's reminding me a lot of some of Beach Bunny's lyrics, (no shade to her, I have overplayed all of their stuff lol) I myself didn't see it at the time, but after a lot of my own healing I started to really recognize how- people pleasing, anxious attachment style, etc, the lyrics were... your fingers delicately pose on your boyfriend’s cheek, slightly rubbing your thumb against his soft skin, he fights the urge to open his eyes— he doesn’t like when you say his name in a annoyed tone— and riki thinks falling in love is embarrassing.

he feels tickles when your pass the eyeliner’s pen on his eyelid, he knows that feeling too well, he feels the same in his stomach when you kiss him. he opens one of his eyes, just a tad so you don’t notice; your concentrated expression is beyond cute and despite the fact that it has only been three minutes since you last told him to close his eyes, he missed admiring your features.

“riki,” you sigh, shooting him a annoyed look then putting the eyeliner down. you tilt your head to the side, he mirrors your move while frowning a bit and he watches a smile forming on youthful lips alongside the fondness in your gaze. “you are lucky i finished this eye, i could’ve messed up”

in a whisper, as you put the pen in your makeup’s case, riki’s voice is soft and filled with love, just like the way he talks to you most of the time, “but, what’s the point of being here if i can’t admire you?”

a clear shade of red appears on your cheeks —and the boy sitting in front of you cringes at his words, his mouth tends to talk on it’s own, especially when you are around; but he loves to see your reactions.

you take the mirror, putting it in-front of your face to hide your embarrassment, riki sees his reflection on the mirror; you did a really great job with the makeup, “when you look at me, it makes me nervous”

it’s as if a flower blossoms inside of his chest, taking over his body, filling all his sense with the thought of you only. his hands find your mirror, putting it on the side, the sight of your pretty face— your flush and your eyes looking at him— his heartbeat goes up. whereupon his lips find yours, he knows, falling in love is embarrassing.

୨୧ I think it would be a bit understandable how Engel would get hooked up on you so fast, i mean, he is a very smart student himself, so i think he would have a heavy infatuation for you because of your inteligence and maturity.

୨୧ Engel would get close to you by talking about your favorite subjects and being extra informed about it, for example: your favorite subject is marine biology? bam, this boy is going to tell you all the fun facts he learned about whales on the internet so he could impress you.

୨୧ After Engel gets more intimate with you, he would try to keep his cool around you at the beginning, but there would be discreet signals, he would let his possessive side slip a bit sometimes because of how much you get praised for your effort on studies.

୨୧ Ah yes, the praising... the praising is what makes Engel get so possessive and jealous, because in his eyes he should be the only one to provide such compliments and take that sweet and gentle smile and laughs out of you, not others.

୨୧ But overall he would be very chill in the first few 2-3 months, but past the 3rd month is where it gets... very weird, Engel would get way more possessive and would show it more.

୨୧ Engel would start to dismiss both of you whenever someone compliments you, going from calm and collected to "uh huh, they really appreciate it but we need to go now, bye" and pushing you away meanwhile being oddly clinged to your arm.

୨୧ And because of you being really smart, you would notice it really fast and maybe pick up on his crush for you, and you would have to choose between confronting him or just leaving it aside.

୨୧ If you do choose to confront him about it, he would try to dismiss it and paint you crazy and gaslighting you, but it wouldnt really work on you since you are very smart, and that personally bothers him sometimes.

୨୧ Now if you try to toss it aside, it would get worse and worse until he doesnt even let you stop to help or get complimented by someone, just pushing you past them like they werent talking at all, and it probably would get to the point where you have to do the first scenario: confronting him.

୨୧ If you try to leave him in any way, he would show himself more smarter than you think, contorning any plan you have of leaving him, like if you try to ignore him, he would make you fall into situations you are forced to talk to him, like having to do a group work and etc.

୨୧ He may like how you are smart, but he can be more smart than you, dont try him, hes just trying to do whats best for you <3

as soon as you said yes, theo shot out of bed and sauntered to your vanity, picking out a lipstick and forcing you to swatch it on your hand so he could see all the different colors and choose his favorite one. after much trial and error, he settled on a rich and deep red you didn't particularly wear but he absolutely loved on you, and pulled you closer.

"sit," your boyfriend demanded softly, smiling giddily. you rolled your eyes, grinning and huffing a laugh as you climbed onto his lap and straddled his hips, allowing him free access to your face. he lightly grabbed your chin and angled it down so he could swipe the crimson across your lips, his free hand on your thigh. up close, you could see a dust of light and occasional freckles scattered here and there across his face, his eyes so extraordinarily blue. "so pretty. you should wear this one more often," he commentated as he closed the cap and abandoned the tube on the desk.

you turned your head and inspected his job in the mirror, which was, surprisingly, not too bad. "who taught you how to put on lipstick, huh, theo?" you joked, turning back and lightly pecking his cheek, which transferred the red. he breathed a laugh. "been practicing for this?"

"i thought it was obvious."

you grabbed his chin, angling his face away from you and moving it as you kissed and kissed, leaving marks in your wake. his hands pulled you closer by the waist, and he hummed as you circled down to the corners of his mouth, his grip tightening. when you felt you were done, you pulled back, grinning widely. "my pretty boy." you left one kiss at his temple for extra measure and grabbed your phone from your pocket, opening tiktok.

"alright, you ready?"

he watched you find the audio, pecking your forehead and humming an approval.

"ready," he confirmed.

"okay, then." you uncapped the lipstick with one hand and shifted on his lap, so you sat facing the mirror. pressing the record button, the sound came to a start and you reapplied the slightly-faded red onto your lips again and made sure you missed a little, unable to contain your giggle. theo’s hand came into frame and turned your face, his thumb wiping away the smudge. you made eye-contact and as the video drew closer to the end, he pulled you in and smothered you in kisses, eliciting laugh after laugh from you and making a mess of your faces.

"theo!" you shrieked as it stopped and the finished video began replaying.

"perfect." he laughed after you, allowing you to turn to the mirror and inspect the damage.

"mm... this better have been worth the stain."

from the reflection, you saw his expression drop. "stain?!" for his face was covered in red.

of course, the video turned out adorable. of course, it took a good hour of scrubbing to get the lipstick off of both of you.
