#‘oh moomintroll where are you
Text
Guys i fucking love those fanfics where snufkin doesnt understand what love feels like and thinks hes idk, diseased or some shit or just hates moomintroll suddenly, and then starts figuring it out and then after confesses to moomin ect ect HOWEVER can u IMAGINE what it would be like if snufkin confesses (without knowing hes confessing) in that first stage oh my god pls 💀💀
“moomintroll, i feel terrible around you, im practically terrified to even look you in the eyes, when you hold my hand i feel ill” LIKE GUYS PLEASE SEE MY VISION imagine snufkin breaks in (is willing let in) to moomins room and starts panicking saying all this shit being like “do you have a fever moomintroll?????? Is it contagious moomintroll?????!!?!!!!?!??!?” Anyways moomintroll is like oh noo im making my friend feel uncomfortable and it sounds like he probably hates me, awkuardness for the next couple of days ensues, and then snorkmaiden sees moomin has been upset recently and shes like talk to me about ur god damn issues ❤️ and then hes like yeah snufkin hates me now and is also sick and i think i gave him an illness that i didnt even realise i probably have,,,,,, and then snorkmaiden is like what,,,, what do u mean he hates u and hes sick,,,,, and moomintroll starts explaining and snorkmaiden is like actually exploding loosing her mind because ohmygod what kind of a love confession was that and then moomins like WDYM A LOVE CONFESSION ???????????
So then moomintroll and snorkmaiden go to snufkin and basically stage an intervention lmao, snorkmaiden gives him a book and everything about the symptoms of love and how it works ect, snorkmaiden is like 🙏 you god damn green boy have you ever heard of love before 🙏 (meanwhile moomin is awkuardly sitting next to her in the tent looking between her and snufkin, probably has his face in his hands most of the time) and snufkins like 😐 wtf guys ive never loved in my life that shit sounds really annoying lol 😐 and then snorkmaidens like, yeah, you ARE annoyed dumbass, what was all that stuff about wanting to throw up when moomin holds your hand, and then snufkins like 🙄 smh thats not what i meant by sickness, i meant like a fever, like fast heart rate, high temperature, flushed face, ect and he thinks hes really got them, hes so confident about it, hes like this will prove to them i have a fever and dont have any of this wanting to kiss moomin shit, but snorkmaiden is just looking into snufkins god damn eyes with the most “🤨” expression and shes just opens her silly book she gave him and opens it on a chapter talking about those symptoms, and snufkin is just staring and this thing hes like … no …… i have a fever …. Im fever boy ……… and so snorkmaiden is like oh my god pls just read the book so her and moomintroll leave him alone, and then like over the course of the next few weeks they both help him slowly realise that hes in love and like idk guys i think it would be funny but also very sweet

Okay so I’m absolutely loving Moominvalley (2019) it’s been amazing especially after playing Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley because I’m learning the lore as I go and it’s been absolute blast!! (I’m on episode 8 btw so preferably not a lot of spoilers) but here’s some of my thoughts and feelings if you wish to read!
You can definitely tell that Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley was made with a lot of love and being able to connect peices from both media’s is such a treat and gives me a better appreciation for the show ^-^
I love how the hatterfattiers travel in odds probably to keep themselves from sparking off!
I loved Snufkin and Little My’s dynamic, it was chaotic but also pretty endearing at times (I want more of them playing music together, and just more screen time with them both. They perfectly represent my remaining brain cells)
At first I wasn’t a huge fan of Snorkmaiden and Moomintroll being together but they’ve really grown on me. Other than the fact that Moomintroll is kinda fumbling with how he treats her, it’s a little bit painful to watch. I kinda hope they work it out but my gut just has ✨the bad feelings✨
Little my is an absolute menace and it’s either for good reason or just to cause problems, I love the inner guessing game I have whenever she pops up on the screen!! She’s probably my favourite character.
I understand that Snufkin leaves Moominvalley during the winter but like where does he go?? Because my immediate thought was ‘oh he just goes into the unknown or something kinda similar probably, he’d fit in pretty great’ like yea probably but babes, that means every winter he lays down and is like “yep this looks like a pretty great spot to just decompress and decompose, anyway good night” and just hangs out there for 3-5 months.
Anyways TL;DR I don’t have anyone else to talk to about this new little brain rot of mine, so I’m gonna word vomit here! and thank you to anyone who took time to read this <3 and please let me know your thoughts and feelings on this show, or any fun facts!!

Hey, sorry if I'm repetitive but what do you think happened to the humans in the Moomin universe.
Absolutely do not worry about asking too many questions, I love answering them!!!
Humans in Moominland is a very interesting subject... In that they're a LOT less of a presence than even I thought they were.
Alot of people (including me) thought that when, in Moomins and the Great Flood, Moominmamma was talking about Moomins living behind huge stoves before the invention of central heating she was talking about humans' stoves.
But no.
She never uses the word human, she says people.
(...) In those days they lived together with the house-trolls in people’s houses, mostly behind their tall stoves. “Some of us still live there now, I’m sure,” said Moominmamma. “But only where people still have stoves, I mean. We’re not happy with central heating.”
“Did the people know we were there?” asked Moomintroll.
(...)
“[A Hattifattener is] a kind of little troll-creature,” explained Moominmamma. “They’re mostly invisible. Sometimes they can be found under people’s floors, and you can hear them pattering about in there when it’s quiet in the evenings. (...)
And it's not like "people" was used as a specific term in Moomins and the Great Flood, either, because we have instances like these;
“Thank you so awfully much,” said Moominmamma. “You must have invited quite a lot of people up here for sea-pudding, I should think.”
“Oh yes,” said the boy. “People from every corner of the world. Snufkins, Sea-ghosts, Little Creeps and Big Folk, Snorks and Hemulens. And the odd angler fish, too.”
(...)
The armchair bobbed slowly along towards a hill where a lot of people were running about, pulling their belongings out of the water.
(...)
“Well, well,” said the marabou stork, who was beginning to feel touched. “I think I had better put you down on dry land and try to rescue a few more before the sun goes down. It’s very pleasant, rescuing people.” And then he took them back to the shore while they all talked at the same time about all the dreadful things they had been through. All along the shore people had lit fires at which they were warming themselves and cooking food, for most had lost their homes.
So it could be that Moominmamma was just talking about living behind regular creatures' oversized stoves, like how the Moomin ancestor did in Moominland Midwinter, which is honestly a very silly image. And it's not like it'd be impossible - the Hemulen and the Marabou stork in Great Flood are absolutely massive compared to our main characters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Marabou storks tend to be about 5 feet tall so relatively speaking, if we assume this stork is still the same size as he would be irl, then our main characters would be relatively mouse-sized.
However. Tove didn't seem to have committed to this concept, and more or less just retconned it out of canon. Since the cats in Moomins and the Great Flood are seemingly regular-sized relative to the Hemulen's chair;
Tumblr media
But in the 1968 revision of Comet in Moominland including future adaptations of the story, Sniff's cat is regular-sized, and so are the cats that appear in the Moomin comic strip, like the one in Moominmamma's Maid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(sorry for using a screenshot from the 90s movie adaptation, I couldn't find a book illustration since I don't have a PDF of the revised book, much less an illustration of Sniff and his cat next to eachother, if that exists. If anyone has a way to read the revision in English pleeease give it to me)
But that's just Moomins and the Great Flood, which practically functions as a "pilot episode" for the whole franchise; it set up the concepts but is not representative of the rest of the franchise and has alot of things that get retconned but not entirely removed for the rest of the series, it wasn't even translated into/published in English until 2012. What about the rest of the franchise?
Well, the only instance of the word "human" being used in the books is in Moominpappa at Sea, while Moominpappa talked about how stone-faced the Fisherman/Lighthouse Keeper has been for the whole book;
‘There’s something wrong with you that I can’t make out,’ Moominpappa said to himself. ‘You’re not a human being at all. You’re more like a plant or a shadow, just as if you’d never been born.’
Which implies either of two things; the LHK is human or human-adjacent, or human is a normal adjective in the world of Moomin aswell.
And the only instance of the word "human" in the comic strip (there could be another instance I'm forgetting, however I'm not talking about Lars' comics because I am kind of prioritizing Tove's intentions here) is in a conversation between Snorkmaiden and Mymble Jr in Moomin Winter Follies;
Tumblr media
Which... Kind of implies Mr. Brisk is human, I think? It's hard to imagine but there it is, the one instance of the word human in the comics.
And that's like... The only thing we really have within the original medium of Moomin.
But Tove had also worked on other things first-hand, and one of them had actual human characters.
That being Mumintrollet (1969, nice), a live-action show primarily known for the body horror of the Moomins removing their heads to reveal human heads inside. But with that obviously inapplicable facet of the show aside, we have this guy, the main antagonist, the King;
Tumblr media
This guy is an explicitly canon human (can't be 100% sure since the show hasn't been transcribed or translated from its original swedish but I'm close to sure), and he's about the same size as the Moomins (probably because of the nature of the show, kinda like the whole head thing and Little My's normal human size in the show, but ehhh)
And that's, like, it for the canonicity of humans in Moomin, everything else is questionable or vague or a bit bewildering.
Like, is King Jones from Moominpappa's Memoirs a human? Why is he so big? What's going on here???
But that's all up to speculation, even the examples of the instances of the word human I've shown doesn't totally prove the existence of humans as we know them in this world. Alot of the characters look human but aren't, and others aren't stated to be not human, there are some oversized things like Muddler's tin that don't get explained, but who knows, really.
In short, I don't think anything has exactly happened to humans. They're either living among Moominland's society like fellow creatures (heck, maybe even some of the characters we know are human) or they're like... Rare or extinct or didn't even truly exist in the first place.
It's one big "who knows?".

Four: the one about the Groke
Short one... because her time is short
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who's that lurking down a frosty path... it's the Groke!
Her vibe is awesome and running from her was one of my favorite parts of the game. In fact, I liked it so much that when she turned out to be a good guy I was disappointed. Like, of course I expected it, I just expected the Groke to be a Thing in the game and stick around longer, so the reveal that she's actually "harmless" would come later...
Frozen Snufkin popsicle looks all kinds of dead and horrific. Me likey
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The whole scene had the best vibe. Creepy and exciting. This isn't really a complaint but I just can't help feeling the game didn't save the best for last! After this most of the quests are very light-hearted. Especially after seeing Moomintroll, even though he's imprisoned, you don't feel the same pressure that you do in the first part of the game when everything is unknown, Moomintroll's whereabouts are completely unknown, AND there's the Groke and forest fires... The story was told backwards, at least emotionally, in my opinion.
Tumblr media
That being said, this scene where Snufkin approaches the police with the frickin GROKE following him is metal as hell
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I was about to shake my first when everyone congratulated Snufkin for putting out the fires, but fortunately he gave credit where credit was due haha. I do wonder what... exactly... Snufkin was supposed to be doing during the fire? Like... was he really running through the flames? Is that hat of his fireproof bahahaha. I'd have liked some coughing animation or some such I guess.
The characterization of the Groke is very friendly and sympathetic. I prefer a more legitimately frightening Groke - not malicious, but focused on her own desire. She seeks light and warmth, only to put it out. But if someone sees her, and reaches out within the boundaries that exist - Moomintroll on the beach swinging the lantern every night without fail, but never getting close enough to touch - idk it seemed symbolic of depression or other familiar dark emotions to me which are difficult but important to accept. (To me anyway - not sure how others read it.) The game goes for a simpler angle like in Moominvalley 2019 and I do get it. I would have loved for the Groke to have been more central to the storyline but I'm not surprised. I still really loved her appearance and gameplay
eta: oh and yeah "The Groke just wants some friends" thing fits in with the whole "loners should make more friends!" vibe. Sorry, but I am wondering... what, does she not freeze people immediately on touch anymore? lol I'm glad she has friends but how does this work and why didn't it before? Moomintroll made friends with her but... didn't tell anyone all they had to do was decide she's not that bad and it'll be fine...?

By My Side (Part 1)
Fandom/Media: The Moomins (1990)
Ship: Snufmin (heavily implied)
Content Advisory: Brief descriptions of hunger, stomach growling, stuffing, tummyaches, tummy rubs, caretaking
“Oh, I’m so glad you’re staying the winter with us, Snufkin!”
“You’ve said that about a dozen times today, Moomin.” Snufkin replied, setting down a book he had picked off the moomintroll’s shelf and had been absently skimming for the past few minutes. It seemed to be about pirates.
“Well what else am I supposed to say? You’ve never stayed the winter, and you hardly sleep over in Moominhouse, but I suppose it makes sense now that the snow’s almost taller than the tree you pitch your tent under… You would have been buried if you’d stayed out there all winter!” Moomin rambled, pulling himself away from the window where he had previously been watching the snow fall from the sky in heaps. Snufkin got up to take Moomin’s place at the window upon hearing that, feeling some small urge to check if that claim was true.
“Well how about that.” His tail swayed back and forth gently as Moomin checked the clock on his wall, as if growing impatient for something. “All these years and I’ve never seen Moominvalley in the snow. It looks like a bowl of sugar.”
His stomach panged hungrily at the word ‘sugar.’ Surely the Hibernation Feast was nearly done by now, right?
“I suppose it does, I hope it’s mostly melted by the first day of spring though, I’d hate to have to trudge through the snow while we’re off on our adventure.” Moomin couldn’t keep a smile off his face as he finished that sentence. ‘Our adventure’ sounded like a dream come true; a dream that Moomin had dreamt countless times after hearing Moominpapa’s tales of his youth.
“You forget that’s what I do every winter, Moomin.”
“Oh… Adventure sounds hard.”
“You getting cold feet already?”
“Not a chance!” Moomin defended quickly, crossing his arms as Snufkin chuckled and turned to face him. Eager to change the subject now, Moomin shuffled over to open his bedroom door. “Let’s go find Little My, I’m sure she needs to be reminded to wash up before the feast, like usual.”
Snufkin’s thoughts were already preoccupied with something else as he stepped out of the bedroom, however; the smell of Moominmama’s cooking had hung heavily around the kitchen since breakfast, but now that the sun was nearly set and dinnertime was fast approaching, that glorious meal could be smelled from every inch of the house. Snufkin’s stomach grumbled impatiently, and Moomin’s ears flicked before the troll stole a glance back at his friend.
“Maybe we should ask Mama for some bread before dinner, too.” Moomin proposed.
“You go ahead, I wouldn’t want to spoil my appetite.”
“You sound like you have enough of an appetite.” Moomin teased as Snufkin rested a hand against his belly and opted to look anywhere but Moomin as he willed his stomach to quiet down for the time being.
The smell of food cooking was even heavier down in the dining room, where Little My was already sitting expectantly at the table.
“Spending the winter in Moominhouse again, Little My?” Snufkin asked as he peeked briefly inside the kitchen, where Moominmama, Moominpapa, and Snorkmaiden were hard at work.
“Obviously, Moominmama’s Feast is the best thing to have before hibernation! I’ve been spending the winter here since before you could travel.” She explained, briefly flaunting her status as the older sibling.
“Oh, that reminds me!” Moomin suddenly exclaimed. “This might be a little late to ask it, but you can hibernate, right Snufkin? Because I know some people can’t hibernate like Moomins can.” Snufkin opened his mouth to answer, but Little My quickly interjected.
“Of course he can! He’s half Mymble, and I hibernate just fine.”
“Well, yes, but I’m also half Mumrik.” He reminded, taking his own seat at the table. Moomin sat dutifully beside him. “And Mumriks don’t hibernate at all. I may be able to for a bit, but not nearly as long as you or Moomin.”
“Oh, what are you going to do during the winter then?” Moomin asked.
“I suppose I’ll try to hibernate, and if I wake up I’ll stretch my legs a bit and then go back to bed. There’s not much use in trying to stay awake if I’m snowed in.” He explained, though the thought of being trapped in one place all winter was particularly daunting.
He was quickly pulled away from those worries as the kitchen door swung open, to reveal Snorkmaiden carrying a large basket of bread.
“Oh good, you’re all here already.” She smiled, ducking back in briefly to grab two more plates heaped with different starting dishes. Little My climbed onto the table and made a grab for some bread, but Snorkmaiden swatted her hand and shook her head. “You have to wait! It’s rude to start eating before everyone’s at the table.” Snorkmaiden scolded, and Little My only slinked back into her chair and crossed her arms with a ‘humph.’
And just as she did, Snufkin’s stomach growled rather fiercely, and as his face flushed, Snorkmaiden just giggled and headed back towards the kitchen. “I’ll tell mama and papa to hurry up though, the food’s nearly done.” She assured, but that didn’t do much to assuage Snufkin’s embarrassment as he pulled his hat down over his face.
She hadn’t lied though, Moominmama and Moominpapa were out in a matter of seconds carting their own plates of food, everything from roasted and seasoned vegetables to hearty pasta and homemade sauce, and of course the main dish: A beautiful roast duck. Snufkin couldn’t help his mouth from filling with saliva just at the sight of the feast; he couldn’t ever recall being in the presence of so much food. He was snapped out of his momentary trance as Moominmama set a pie before Snufkin on the table, and then gave him a little wink.
“I made this special for you, dear.” She said proudly, arranging a few more things on the table as she spoke. “You helped us catch so much fish this season after all, so I tried out a recipe for black bass pie. I do hope you like it.” Snufkin just stared up at her, nearly dumbfounded.
“I can’t wait to try it Moominmama, thank you…” He replied, taking up his knife and fork as everyone sat around the table. Moominpapa grunted in agreement.
“Neither can I, working in that kitchen is torture! I’ve been waiting all day to try a bit of everything…” He grumbled as Moominmama sat beside him and gave him a quick peck. “Then stop complaining and start eating, dear.”
And that they did.
With as much polite restraint as he could continue to muster, Snufkin began piling food onto his plate. He took a little bit of everything, but he made a point to take a heaping slice out of Moominmama’s black bass pie. He couldn’t help his curiosity about the dish, and he ended up taking a bite out of that first.
And my goodness, was it heavenly.
Snufkin could hardly stop eating after that initial bite, everything was just so good; the vegetables were crispy, the fish was savory, the duck was roasted and spiced just right. It didn’t take him long to clear his plate, and when he saw everyone else reaching for seconds, he figured he might as well do the same. There were still things on the table he hadn’t even gotten around to trying.
“Make sure to eat a lot Snufkin.” Moomin advised plainly, passing the duck that the mumrik had motioned for once again. “This meal has got to last you all winter!”
“I know, but that shouldn’t be a problem, Moominmama’s cooked enough to feed the whole of Moominvalley.” His fangs tore into a leg of duck, and he couldn’t help his tail from swaying gently at the taste. He hardly ever got to eat a luxury such as cured meat.
Moomin himself couldn’t keep a grin off his face as he saw the other’s tail swaying. Not much could make him happier than when Snufkin showed those little telltale habits that reminded the world that he was, in fact, a mumrik.
Mumriks weren’t accustomed to Moomin-sized portions, however. Snufkin heeded Moomin’s advice to ‘eat a lot’ regardless, and throughout most of the feast, he was far too preoccupied with eating his fill of each and every dish, and made sure to put a helping of his favorites back on his plate during every serving. It would be rude if he didn’t try a little bit of everything after Moominmama and Moominpapa had worked so hard on such a big feast, after all. But by the time he was halfway through his third helping, Snufkin began slowing down a bit, on account of realizing just how full he was getting. He paused briefly to set a hand on his belly, which had rounded out considerably since he began eating. He’d been so caught up in eating that he had hardly noticed himself getting full, and now he just felt positively stuffed.
But he still had half a plate of food left, so he tried to push away the thought of how full he was getting in favor of clearing his plate.
When he eventually did, the stuffed swell of his belly was near impossible to ignore. At least for him. Thank goodness it was hidden beneath his cloak, but he could feel his overfull stomach straining against his undershirt and gurgling with the effort it took to digest the massive amount of food. Thank goodness the chatter of the table was enough to mask the noises, and that chatter only grew when Moominmama got up and returned with a few more heaping dishes of dessert.
“I hope you all aren’t too full yet, you can’t hibernate without some nice dessert in your belly, after all.” She insisted kindly, though Snufkin found himself groaning inwardly. The food looked absolutely delicious, Moominmama had brought out pies and cakes and cookies, and Snufkin silently envied how everyone else looked ready to dig into the final stretch of the meal while he was already stuffed to the gills. He would eat dessert nonetheless though; he’d rather be too full than wake up starving during hibernation, after all.
So he ate a cookie, and then a cupcake, and then a piece of cake, and then a piece of pie until he’d had at least one of every dessert. But after that he positively had to sit back and put down his fork to place a hand on his overfull stomach; if he didn’t he feared his tummy would burst with how much he’d crammed into it.
Thankfully it didn’t, but it did give a rather displeased rumble at the amount of food it had to deal with now, and like usual, Moomin’s sensitive ears swiveled before the troll glanced down at the swell of Snufkin’s stomach, now round enough to be noticeable even under his cloak. Moomin gasped.
“Snufkin-!” But the mumrik just held a hand up, shook his head and stared back at him with a look he hoped communicated ‘please, not here.’ He stifled a hiccup, and Moomin quickly got the message, finishing off the last of his own dessert before standing up.
“Can we be excused, mama?”
“I suppose, have you two had enough to eat?”
“Oh yes, more than enough mama, thank you.” Moomin insisted as Snufkin hoisted himself out of his seat with an agreeable nod.
“Everything was amazing Moominmama, thank you…” He said, one hand still resting on his rounded tummy as Moomin led him towards the stairwell.
“Alright, you two have a good hibernation then! Sleep well.” She called after the boys. Snufkin just stared up at the stairs and then exhaustedly back at Moomin.
“You’re mad if you think I can climb up to your room in this state…” He murmured abashedly. He’d really overdone it, his stomach was starting to churn and gurgle uncomfortably beneath his palm, not used to such an immense amount of food.
“Oh dear… Well, how about I just carry you up?”
“Carry me?” Snufkin couldn’t keep the blush from spreading across his cheeks.
“Of course, how else are you supposed to get to bed?” Both the boys paused as Snufkin’s stomach churned noisily, and Snufkin glanced down at the floor, placing his other hand on his belly in the hopes that he could hide the busy noises. “Best to get you to a place where I can tend to that tummy too, I don’t want you starting hibernation with a stomachache…” Moomin fussed as he gathered the mumrik up into his arms and started the trek up the three flights of stairs.
“Oh please, there’s no need to tend to me, I’m just full.” Snufkin insisted, but the journey up the stairs proved otherwise. Being jostled around and so close to Moomin that the troll could surely hear every churn and squeeze of his overworked gut was enough to make Snufkin silently give into Moomin’s offer for help. Especially now that an uncomfortable ache was starting to bloom in his belly.
Moomin set Snufkin carefully on his bed, and, with a bit of hesitation, the mumrik began making himself comfortable by wrestling his way out of his cloak and kicking off his boots. Moomin hung both his cloak and his hat on the bedframe before climbing up beside Snufkin, and nearly gasping again at the sight of his tummy.
“Oh, Snufkin… You really overdid it, didn’t you?” The smaller boy’s stomach certainly looked full. Where there would normally be the gentle slope of a soft and well-fed tummy, there was now the distended swell of a stomach that was a little too well-fed. Not to mention rumbling like an avalanche around the food that had been crammed inside of it. Snufkin had overindulged to the point where his belly was rounded like a ball and pressing against his undershirt, and after a moment of stewing in embarrassment at his overindulgence, Snufkin carefully undid the belt of his trousers and heaved a relieved sigh. Moomin chuckled gently and tentatively reached a paw out, and after a silent ‘go ahead’ nod from Snufkin, he placed a hand on the top of his friends belly.
“I bet that feels a little better, huh?” Moomin asked, slowly beginning to rub the gurgling swell of Snufkin’s belly. Snufkin just nodded, leaning into the gentle touch of the other’s paw. “Goodness, your belly’s all firm like a rock! Just how much did you eat?” He exclaimed, pressing in ever so slightly to help relieve a bit of the achiness. Snufkin’s stomach just released a string of distressed grumbles in return.
“Four plates, including dessert… How do you manage this every winter?” He huffed. Now that his hat was off and his ears were visible, Moomin could see that Snufkin’s ears were pressed flat against the side of his head, and his face was still flushed in embarrassment.
“Oh, that’s all? I had six, but I suppose your tummy is smaller than mine.” Moomin nearly teased, patting his own round tummy for emphasis. Snufkin just smiled gently, he couldn’t help but adore Moomin’s warm and round softness, everything about him was just so comfortable. He supposed that’s why Moomins hibernated in the winter, that softness couldn’t be properly appreciated if they blended in with the snowy white landscape. “You’ll be alright though-“ Moomin started again, interrupting Snufkin’s train of thought. “It’s your first Hibernation Feast. Once your tummy settles you won’t want to do anything but sleep.”
“Aren’t you tired then, Moomin?”
“Oh yes, but I need to make sure you get to sleep alright before I do. Like I said, this is your first hibernation, so I’ll make sure you get proper rest.” He insisted.
“Well, I learn by watching, so how about you just show me how?” He asked before wincing as Moomin worked on a particularly painful cramp in his stomach.
“Only after you start feeling better.” Moomin worked that spot a little more with the careful pads of his paws, and he was able to loosen the cramp and release another string of gurgles and growls. Snufkin just sighed in relief at the untied knot in his stomach.
“…Deal.”
So they carried on that way for awhile, with Moomin massaging, Snufkin reclined on the bed, and his stomach rumbling away around a lovely feast. Eventually Moomin was able to ease most of the aches in his stomach, and as soon as he was able to focus more on the weight in his belly as a comfortable fullness rather than an achy mass, he began to feel his eyelids drooping. And without a second thought, he began to purr.
“Snufkin!” Moomin gasped, causing the mumrik to crack an eye open. “Oh, you’re purring!” He said in a more hushed tone upon realizing how tired the other was getting.
“Mhm? I suppose I am…” He murmured, stifling a yawn. Moomin did the same; the action contagious. “Well, your belly rubs do feel rather nice…” He continued to purr, and with wide, admiring eyes, Moomin continued to rub Snufkin’s belly with one paw while he pulled a blanket over them with his other. He lied down facing the mumrik to continue rubbing his belly, as Snufkin simply lied there, finally enjoying his fullness.
“I’m glad… Do you feel better yet?”
“Oh yes, much better… Thank you Moomin.”
“Of course Snufkin…” Moomin could feel his eyes getting a bit droopy as well. But before he could ask Snufkin another question, his purring continued as his breathing evened out. He’d fallen asleep, and Moomin just smiled.
“Goodnight then, Snufkin.”

Constellations
Moomintroll couldn’t sleep.
It was a perfectly normal night in all regards, asides from that small problem. In fact, it was quite pleasant, it was a couple weeks into spring, but not so far that it was buggy or too hot yet. Perfect weather for pretty much anything. Especially a good nights sleep.
Unlucky for him, that one wasn’t going to happen tonight.
Instead, Moomintroll decided to take a midnight walk. After an hour or so of tossing and turning that is. He crept across his room, climbed down the old rope ladder and dropped down into the soft grass. He didn’t really know where he was gonna go, all his friends were surely asleep. Except perhaps Snufkin. Snufkin was up at whatever hours he so pleased. After wandering aimlessly through the grasses outside moominhouse for a few minutes, he opted to head over to Snufkin’s campsite.
“I suppose it’s already late enough in the year for fireflies…” Moomintroll whispered to himself as he walked, looking around at the small glowing dots that floated around in the air, making ever shifting constellations one could reach out and touch. While looking he noticed that Snufkin’s fire was still glowing bright across the bridge. Moomintroll shook his head fondly. “Of course he’s still up.” He kept on towards the river. “Hope he doesn’t mind the company too much.”
He ran his paw along the railing as he walked, feeling the smoothed wood under his fingertips, the surface worn down from years of use. Snufkin lifted his head when he noticed Moomintroll approaching, removing his hat to wave gently. It seemed as though he wouldn’t mind the company.
“Moomintroll.” The mumrik spoke as the aforementioned moomin made his way over and sat down on a log. “What are you doing up at this hour?” Moomintroll sighed, slouching a bit and looking into the fire. “Ah, couldn’t sleep. Figured I’d go on a little late wander. Take a leaf out of your book.” Snufkin nodded and looked back to the fire as well. “I see.” The two sat for a few minutes, watching the fire crackle in otherwise uninterrupted silence. “It’s been a while since we’ve just sat by a fire like this, hasn’t it?” Snufkin finally asked. “Yeah, I guess it has.” Moomin answered simply. There was a pause. “I missed you this winter. I always do, but it felt different this year. I don’t really know why.” Moomin breathed, not really putting thought into his words, instead simply letting them fall out. “I missed you too. I always do.” Snufkin replied with a fond chuckle, mimicking his friend.
The two sat like that for a couple hours, just staring into the fire and talking in hushed voices like they were kids who weren’t supposed to be awake and were trying not to wake the grownups. After a while, the fire had nearly died, now reduced to nothing but a pile of embers and charred logs. Then Snufkin yawned.
“Are you tired?” Moomintroll asked, sitting up and turning towards his mumrik friend. “No, I’m-“ he yawned again. “I’m fine. It’s just getting a bit late is all.” “Hm.” Moomintroll stood. “Moomintroll? You don’t have to go yet.” The moomin walked over to a patch of soft grass near the tent, and layer down in his back, before patting his tummy gently. “Come lay down.” Snufkin smiled slightly, taking off his hat and walking over to his friend. “Oh, if I absolutely must.” The mumrik teased, curling up at the moomin’s side, resting his head atop the other’s belly. It shook gently as Moomintroll giggled.
“It’s been years since we slept like this.” Moomintroll said after the two of them had stopped their quiet laughter. Snufkin just hummed in response, already half asleep with his hat starting to fall of of his hand by his side.
Moomintroll reckoned he would sleep rather well now.

An Experiment
(Snufmin. Human high school AU. Light angst.)
This is so stupid.
Moomin rifled around in his locker, his head a buzz of annoying thoughts as the school day finally ended.
I shouldn't listen to her.
He pulled out his maths and history workbooks before shoving them in his backpack, taking a deep breath.
I'm not going to take her advice. I'm just going to act like normal.
Moomin shut his locker and almost jumped a foot in the air when he saw his best friend hiding right behind it.
"Snufkin!" He laughed, a little nervously to his own ears, before leaning against the locker and clearing his throat. "What's -- what's up?"
"Nothing much." Snufkin smiled in that crinkly way of his; where his oak brown eyes squinted together and he looked ready to laugh. "Just wondering if you were up for an adventure today."
"Oh, um..." Truthfully, Moomin did have quite a bit to review for history if he wanted to stay caught up. But it wasn't the first time he'd abandoned his work to go on an adventure with Snufkin.
'Ignore him.'
Moomin winced as an annoying, high-pitched voice echoed the advice he'd heard just a few minutes ago.
'If you ignore him, he'll come crawling back to you faster than a snake chasing a mouse.'
What? How in the world does that make any sense?!
'Just trust me! Snufkin isn't like you. He'll always try harder to get somewhere he thinks he's not wanted.'
I find that incredible hard to believe.
'You don't have to ignore him completely. But the next time he asks you on an adventure, don't just drop everything for him. Say you're busy.'
But then we won't hang out at all? Which is the opposite of what I want?
'Just trust me!'
"Moomintroll?" Snufkin snapped Moomin out of his thoughts with his gentle, inquisitive voice, the brunette's head tilted slightly.
"Sorry," Moomin finally replied out loud, adjusting his backpack a bit so he could avoid looking at Snufkin's face. "Just, um, thinking about how busy I'll be. I don't think I can make it today, sorry."
"Oh." Snufkin actually seemed surprised as his eyes widened. "Right, of course."
"Sorry." Moomin glanced over at him, giving a sheepish smile. "I'm sure you'll have fun on your own, anyway."
Snufkin laughed briefly, glancing away. "I generally do. Thank you."
Moomin had no idea what to say now. Usually they'd already be on their way to whatever spot Snufkin had in mind, either in comfortable silence or with Moomin chattering on about whatever had happened to him that day. But if he was busy...
"Well, I'll see you tomorrow?" Moomin laughed weakly, waving a hand at him as he turned.
"Right!" Snufkin brightened again, returning his wave. "See you tomorrow."
Moomin waved a bit longer before turning around completely and frowning to himself. He felt like an idiot. What was the point of that?! How was this any way to get closer to Snufkin! It was completely counter intuitive!
"Nice job."
"Gah!" Moomin jumped about a foot in the air right as he exited the school.
Amidst a large group of leaving students, Moomin turned his head and could easily spot Little My sitting on top of the 5-foot cobblestone fence lining the main entrance of the school, clad in a bright red skirt and a dark orange top, a big grin on her round face.
He scowled before making his way through the crowd to approach her. "You're not supposed to sit there, you know."
"I see you took my advice." She ignored his warning, kicking her legs against the stone. "Considering he's not here with you."
"Yes, and isn't that interesting?" Moomin rolled his eyes. "I'm much closer to him now after ignoring him, aren't I?"
Little My stuck her tongue out at him. "It's not an immediate solution! But this will work. Trust me, I know how my brother operates."
"I don't believe you," Moomin deadpanned. "Tomorrow I'll apologize and offer to go with him somewhere after school. To make up for this stupidly lost time."
"No, no!" Little My groaned, hopping down from the pillar so she could glare up at him and speak in a lower voice. "Don't just go right back to acting like a lovesick puppy! Make him earn your time! Here's what you should do -- I bet tomorrow he'll ask you to eat lunch with him."
"What?" Moomin creased his brows together. "Don't be silly. You know he prefers to eat alone."
"Exactly." Little My grinned. "And because he usually eats alone, he knows that you'll be ecstatic to accept his invitation, and he'll know that he still has control over you."
"You're making him sound like some villain!" Moomin snapped, turning and walking away from this nonsensical talk.
"Just listen!" Little My followed after him, huffing in annoyance. "I'm not saying he's a villain. But he does, actually, love having your attention, even if he won't admit it, and even if he takes it for granted."
Moomin clenched his teeth. His other close friend, Snorkmaiden, had told him the same thing before -- about Snufkin taking him for granted. Moomin really didn't see what they meant.
"So, when he asks you to sit with him at lunch tomorrow, you say that you need to work on something over lunch and that you can't."
"What?!" Moomin stopped walking to crease his eyebrows down at her. "You're insane. Why wouldn't I accept his invitation? I probably won't get another one!"
Little My's eye twitched once. "That's the point. You need to show Snufkin that you don't care about accepting every single one of his 'exclusive' invitations! And believe me, he will ask you to sit with him at lunch again."
Moomin scoffed, shaking his head before starting to walk again. "This is ridiculous. He probably won't even ask me! I'm done listening to you."
"You know I'm right!" Little My insisted. "In your heart of hearts, you know I'm right!"
"Done listening!" Moomin reiterated before increasing his pace to a fast walk. Thankfully, Little My didn't try to keep up with him.
~~~
"Moomintroll."
"Snufkin!" Moomin was surprised to see Snufkin right outside of his classroom door. Considering the bell had just run less than a minute ago. "Don't tell me you skipped?"
"Just the last five minutes." Snufkin shrugged as he kept pace with Moomin, headed for the lockers. "Told the teacher I wasn't feeling well."
Moomin snorted. "Of course you did." He glanced down at the lunchbag in Snufkin's hands, his heart skipping a beat as he remembered Little My's "advice" from yesterday. "Pack a good lunch today?"
"Absolutely." Snufkin smiled, giving the dark green bag a little extra swing as he walked. "Would you like to join me? I know a lovely little spot in the library, away from prying eyes."
"Oh?" Moomin's mouth felt dry. He wanted to accept the invitation immediately. Hell, he wanted to pull Snufkin in for a hug as he laughed and told him he'd love to.
But... the fact that Snufkin had asked him to join him for lunch, just like Little My had said he would? It tied Moomin's stomach into a knot.
"Normally I'd say yes," Moomin found himself saying, glancing forwards. "But I actually need to complete some homework, so I'm afraid I won't be much company."
"Oh." Once again, Snufkin's eyes widened in surprise, and it even looked like he almost tripped over his own feet as they continued on their way. "I see."
"Sorry." One half of Moomin's mouth upturned into a smile. "But you prefer being alone to eat anyway, right?"
"Right." Snufkin's free hand reached across his body, latching tightly onto the strap of his lunchbag as his usual smile entered his cheeks. "Of course."
They continued on in silence. Moomin felt like his heart was beating against his brain and trying to knock some sense into it, telling him to change his mind and accept the lunch invitation. But his mouth didn't want to; it stayed closed, accompanying his tightened throat very well.
They arrived at Moomin's locker, where he quickly clicked in his combination to open it up and grab his own lunch.
"What about tomorrow?" Snufkin asked quietly.
"What?" Moomin turned to look at him, intrigued by the way Snufkin was avoiding his eyes.
"We could eat lunch together tomorrow?" Snufkin reiterated, his bright eyes still looking off to the side.
"Oh." Moomin shut his locker quietly, discreetly swallowing his excitement. "Sure. I'll try to get my work done before then."
"Sounds good." Snufkin glanced back at him then, a gentle smile on his face. "Then, I'll see you around." He made a quick wave before turning and heading off, not waiting for Moomin to return the gesture.
"What did I tell you?"
"Gah!" Moomin jumped before whipping around to spot Little My yet again. "How are you everywhere?!"
"Intuition." She grinned, her arms crossed smugly over her chest. "Anyway, my plan worked, didn't it? He invited you to lunch again."
"Coincidence," Moomin replied quickly, even as his heart skipped several beats. "He just... wants to make future plans."
Little My scoffed and rolled her eyes. "When has he ever planned anything in his life? He always asks you to do things last minute."
Moomin winced, glancing away. He couldn't argue against that, because it was absolutely true. It seemed like Snufkin always waited until the last possible second before inviting him anywhere, as if Moomin was a distant, second thought to whatever his plans had been. Though Moomin tried not to think of it that way; he preferred to look on the bright side. At the fact that Snufkin did want him around, if he was inviting him to anything at all.
"Anyway." Little My grinned wide. "You're doing great so far. So here's what you do during lunch tomorrow --"
Moomin groaned before closing his locker and heading to the lunchroom, Little My fast on his heels. "What, do I have to stand him up? Or ignore him again? How long do I have to listen to you?"
"Until you get what you want, duh." Little My rolled her eyes. "And you don't have to stand him up or ignore him. You can go eat lunch with him like I know you want to. But." She sped in front of him, stopping him at the side of the hallway as she narrowed her eyes seriously. "Don't act like it's a privilege to be there, or hang on his every word, or treat him like he's some impressive prince or something --"
"I don't do that." Moomin felt heat entering his cheeks.
"Let's pretend I believe you." Little My smirked. "Anyway -- instead of being embarrassing and way too eager to talk with him, just keep quiet. Let him start the conversation."
Moomin scoffed, stepping to the side so he could walk past her. "Great, so then we'll just eat in silence. Wonderful plan."
"Did you hear me? I said let him start the conversation."
"I heard you. But you should know that Snufkin doesn't enjoy small talk. If he's going to talk, it's going to be to tell a story, or to convey information."
"I don't have time to explain this to you. Just trust me!" Little My elbowed his side, pointing out proudly, "Hasn't my advice been completely on point so far?"
Moomin scowled, hunching his shoulders up instead of responding. He didn't want to say anything that would fuel her ego.
~~~
Moomin brought a simple lunch for the next day -- a cucumber sandwich with a side of strawberries, pretzels, and some juice. He figured it would be a fine lunch to eat in the library with Snufkin by his side.
Snufkin had retrieved him during his last morning class just like he'd done yesterday, holding up his lunchbag as a silent question. Moomin had just smiled and held up his own lunchbag, which he'd grabbed before heading into class in preparation.
But he didn't say a word as they walked across the halls. Didn't make a peep as they walked into the library. He didn't make any kind of noise as they sat in the very back of the library, concealed by some very dusty bookshelves full of equally dusty, thick, hard-cover books. And as they sat down to enjoy their separate lunches, the only sounds coming from him were the soft, quiet sounds of chewing.
Once again, Moomin felt ridiculous, and stupid, and completely out of his element. This went against his very nature. He didn't like to sit in silence. He didn't want to act uninterested when he was with someone he liked. He wanted to just talk, and be happy, and enjoy their time together. Why was he listening to Little My, again? She wasn't right about everything.
"You finished all your homework?"
Moomin jolted a little, turning to Snufkin in surprise. "Hm?" he swallowed his bite of sandwich.
"Your homework," Snufkin repeated, a grape in his hand. "You finished?"
"Oh." Moomin felt taken aback. Was Snufkin... really asking him such a dull question? "Yeah, I finished it all. Didn't take as long as I thought it would, which was nice."
"That does sound nice." Snufkin smiled a little before popping the grape into his mouth. "I'm sure you did it well. You're always diligent with your work."
"Thank you?" Moomin laughed weakly, unsure of what else to do from such a strange compliment. He couldn't remember the last time Snufkin had given him a verbal compliment; usually it was always in his smile, or in a pat on the shoulder, or a head nod.
"You're welcome."
They went back to eating in silence for a moment. Moomin was honestly starting to feel a little dizzy.
"Do you think you'll be busy after school today?"
"Hm?" Moomin had just picked up a strawberry. "Uh, I don't think so. Why?"
"Want to go to the beach?" Snufkin asked, ripping a piece of bread before dipping it in peanut butter. "We could look for unique rocks. For your collection."
"Yeah?" Moomin's eyes widened. Snufkin remembered his rock collection? He thought he'd bored Snufkin whenever he talked about it. "That sounds like fun!"
"Great." Snufkin smiled, his eyes crinkling in that charming way of his. "And we can tell each other mermaid stories. Know any good ones?"
"I'm sure I can think of one." Moomin smiled, his heart flipping once in his chest. They often told each other stories, or made one up together. "Although you might have to jog my memory."
Snufkin chuckled, nodding as he ate his peanut-buttered bread.
Moomin simply smiled in return, taking a hearty bite of his sandwich. He couldn't wait for school to end.
~~~
"I hear you have a date?"
"Can you please stop sneaking up on me?" Moomin requested of Little My as he walked out of the bathroom. "And how long have you been standing there?!"
"Not long." Little My shrugged as she walked beside him. "Anyway. You're going rock hunting with my brother? How romantic."
Moomin was sure his face was bright red. "It's not a date, and it's not romantic. We've done this before."
"Oh, whatever." Little My rolled her eyes. "Anyway, I have some more advice for you on your 'not-a-date' outing."
"What?!" Moomin creased his brows at her. "Don't tell me I still have to ignore him? I want to actually have fun with him, you know!"
"And you'll have your fun, I promise." Little My grinned. "But you still can't act like he's all you ever think about."
"He's not!"
"Mmhm, sure." Little My snickered. "Anyway, you need to show him that you're more interested in the actual activity you're doing than you are in him. And the best way to do that is to talk about someone else -- like how you'd talk about a crush."
"Excuse me?" Moomin felt his cheeks flush again. "But I don't have a cr-crush on anyone..."
Little My only stared at him.
"Shut up."
"Just talk about some celebrity you like," Little My advised. "As long as you mention that you wish you could go rock collecting with them someday, it's perfect."
Moomin groaned and stared up at the ceiling. Was he really going to keep listening to Little My?
~~~
"I hear Adam Moon likes to go for walks along the beach," Moomin rambled to Snufkin as they searched the sand for unique rocks. "He says nothing clears his head better than the feeling of sand in his toes and the sound of gentle waves rushing into his ear. I think I agree with him, don't you?"
"Mm," Snufkin hummed, his eyes trained down at the sand.
Moomin swallowed, his mouth quickly drying out. "He'll even go swimming when the waves are more rough. Says he likes the danger. I think I'd like to try that sometime, you know? Jumping straight into a whitecap, fighting against the oncoming waves."
"Like a mermaid would do," Snufkin mused quietly.
"Yeah, kind of." Moomin laughed lightly.
They hadn't yet started making up a mermaid story together; that was probably Snufkin's subtle way of saying he wanted to move on from the current conversation. For once, Moomin didn't take the hint.
"But mermaids probably wouldn't enjoy walking along the beach. And Adam also said he liked to collect seashells, or cool-looking rocks. I wonder if he'd be impressed by my collection?" Moomin laughed again, feeling a bit strange as he said this next part. "I bet it'd be fun to go rock hunting with him. We'd talk about the coolest rocks we've found so far, and help each other find even better ones. Maybe he'd even write a song about it? Two people sharing a hobby together. Or maybe that's too simple for a song."
"Anything can become a song." Snufkin was smiling, but it didn't crinkle his eyes like normal. "Two people sharing a hobby together sounds like a wonderful theme."
"You think so?" Moomin felt like his heart was slowly pounding its way out of his chest.
"Mmhm." Snufkin nodded, stepping a bit closer to Moomin as they continued searching the sand. "I could try my hand at such a theme, if you like?"
"Would you?" Moomin's eyes raised in astonishment. "On what instrument?"
"Guitar, probably." Snufkin mused. "Or maybe the flute? That might suit the sounds of a beach better."
"The flute does have a lovely sound." Moomin's heart was in his throat. Was Snufkin... really saying he'd compose a song for him? Based on a theme he'd spouted randomly?
"I'll start composing tonight." Snufkin smiled in that unfamiliar way again as he looked over at Moomin. "And show you what I have tomorrow."
"Sounds like a plan." Moomin smiled wide, having to stop himself from putting a bounce into his step. "Ah, but anyway -- let's start our mermaid tale!"
"I don't much feel up to storytelling right now," Snufkin replied, his hands folded behind his back. "But you can tell one, if you like."
"Oh, sure." Moomin smiled down at the sand, humming as he thought of a way to begin.
~~~
Little My didn't have anymore advice for him after the beach. When she told him that Snufkin was going to compose a song for him, she'd only smiled wide and told him to enjoy "whatever came next." Whatever that meant. Still, Moomin was relieved; that meant he could just be himself when they hung out next, right?
School went by in a blur. Moomin could hardly focus on his classes, so distracted with thoughts of what kind of song Snufkin might compose. It was rare for him to take any suggestions for his songwriting. He usually said that his songs were an extension of his heart, and he didn't want anything influencing them unnecessarily. Which meant this was a huge, very big deal, and Moomin was allowing himself to feel flattered.
When classes finally ended, Snufkin and Moomin headed to the school's music room. Snufkin said he liked the acoustics there, and Moomin was happy to hear one of his songs anywhere.
"I'll sit here?" Moomin took a seat in a random chair, smiling as Snufkin retrieved his flute from his backpack.
"Sounds perfect." Snufkin smiled warmly at Moomin before walking over, standing right in front of him. "I know you like pop music, though you also have a fondness for classical sounds."
Moomin nodded, once again surprised at the fact that Snufkin remembered this about him.
"So, I tried to combine the two a little." Snufkin nodded once before closing his eyes and holding the flute to his mouth. Moomin joined him in closing his eyes, wanting to hear the full force of Snufkin's melody.
It started out slow and high, like the wind across the ocean, before a few quick notes interrupted it, imitating the sound of birds squawking. It made Moomin smile; he loved how easily Snufkin could imitate nature in his playing.
After a few more squawks, the tempo increased and a jaunty yet steady tune took shape. Snufkin began tapping his foot, and Moomin got the impression it was meant to represent someone's footsteps as the flute continued its faster pace. Moomin could just imagine the scene: two people walking down the beach, laughing, playfully bumping into each other. Just enjoying a warm day by the ocean.
The tune turned staccato, and Moomin could imagine each note as one of the people pointing at a rock, fascinated and curious. They probably even pick a few up to inspect them, before tossing it back to the sand in the next second. A brief, quick string of notes gave the impression of laughter again, and a long, lingering note brought to mind the two stepping closer together to link arms.
The previous jaunty tune came back, now with the two walking arm in arm -- warmer, cozier. The sun was setting, but they didn't mind; they had each other, and that could keep them going for a long, long time.
The slow notes returned, and Moomin imagined the two staring into each other's eyes, the ocean and the rocks completely forgotten. And as the last note lingered in the air, Moomin could imagine them leaning in for a kiss.
Moomin opened his eyes slowly, a smile coming onto his face as he saw Snufkin staring expectedly at him, his flute clutched to his chest.
"That was lovely," Moomin whispered, glad to see Snufkin smile from the acknowledgement. "I really enjoyed it." He laughed, shaking his head. "I can't believe you wrote all that in one night! You really should audition for some fancy music university."
Snufkin chuckled, nodding his head in place of a bow. "Thank you for the confidence. I'll think about it." Snufkin trailed off, stepping closer to Moomin so he could lower his voice. "It's... easy to compose for you, though."
"It is?" Moomin only blinked at him, confused. "Why?"
Snufkin merely stared at him, his brown eyes shining in a way that Moomin had never seen before. "Because," he whispered, leaning down.
Moomin didn't understand what happened next. One second he'd just been enjoying Snufkin's song, flattered that he'd composed something just for him. And in the next second he felt a gentle pressure against his lips, Snufkin's freckled face closer to his own than it had ever been before.
Snufkin moved back barely an inch, their eyes staring into each other's and their breath mingling together. "Because," Snufkin repeated, his cheeks tinging pink.
~~~
Moomin wanted to cry. He wanted to scream. He wanted to punch a wall, run away, jump into a freezing lake -- anything to take his mind off of his current problems.
He didn't know how to react to Snufkin's kiss, so he'd ended up just sitting there like a gaping fish, completely silent. Which had proven too much for Snufkin, who had stood up tall, packed up his flute, and headed out with a quiet, "See you tomorrow."
Little My had been waiting for Moomin just outside the music room, a smug smile on her face. She'd asked if he enjoyed himself, and that was the first time Moomin had felt like crying.
Because he hadn't enjoyed himself. Not really. He knew he should have; he'd literally dreamed of kissing Snufkin before. He'd often thought about what it might feel like to be able to have him that close.
But the way it happened was all wrong. Because Snufkin had only started acting different when Moomin had started acting different. When Moomin had began ignoring him, and acting like he didn't like him as much as he once did.
But that wasn't how he wanted to treat someone he liked! He didn't want to pretend he wasn't interested! He wanted to give his partner his whole heart, and talk about everything together, and actually act excited to be with them!
But if Snufkin didn't like that -- if he actually did want to be with someone who wasn't so attached -- then it wasn't Moomin that he liked. It was this stupid, fake persona that he'd adopted, all because Moomin wanted to see if anything would change.
And now that he knew it had changed everything, he had a choice to make. Keep acting unattached so he can be as close to Snufkin as he wants, or act like himself again and let everything go back to normal.
But could that second option really happen? How could Moomin go back to treating Snufkin normally after this? After seeing what Snufkin truly wants, and knowing that he'll never be it?
Moomin wanted to cry. He wanted to scream.
He wanted to forget this ever happened.

Summary:
Moomintroll breaks the silence first. “What’s going on, Snufkin?” His words are so soft, gentle, like a blanket wrapped up around Snufkin tighter and tighter until he can’t move. Where does he even begin? Even if he knew the words to say, how could they climb out of his throat? Acid rises again. He coughs it out into the bucket on his lap.
“Are—are you sick?” Moomintroll asks, brows knit and blue eyes wide. “Do you need to see a doctor?”
“No, no.” Snufkin shakes his head. Deep breath in. “I’m… fine.” He finishes lamely. Not the word he meant to get out.
Moomintroll does not look convinced. “Well, okay. If you say so.” His bare foot taps Snufkin’s socked one. “But if you want to stay over, you’re welcome.”
He couldn’t do such a thing. “Oh, I—"
“We don’t have to talk or anything,” Moomintroll says. “We can just watch a movie or something.” Not talking sounds pretty nice.

21! and 7 please? \(//∇//)\ thank you, love your writing so much ♡
Ahh! Thank you for playing. (⁀ᗢ⁀)
21. Moomin-starfall
Moomin! I’ve never actually finished/posted any Moomin fic, but I am still quite fond of all things Moomintroll. This story is loosely inspired by Stardust (novel by Neil Gaiman and also a movie), wherein the Moomin gang rescue a strange young lady who bears a striking resemblance to a certain scruffy mumrik.
Moomintroll stepped closer, raising his voice enough to be heard over the crashing of the waves against the rocks. "Snufkin!"
"Oh, Moomin!" Snufkin looked over, his eyes gleaming with a fierce delight that belied his calm composure. There was something undeniably wild about Snufkin in weather like this, almost as though he was throwing off a mask of civility, just like the clouds were, and reveling in the coming chaos. "Hello! What brings you out here?"
"I was looking for you. Shouldn't you come in? Mama says the storm's going to hit soon!"
"She's quite right about that. That's Moominmamma for you."
 A particularly strong wave hit the rocks, sending up a curtain of water that just barely missed soaking Snufkin from hat to boots. Moomintroll jumped in surprise, and nearly lost his footing on the slick rocks.
 Snufkin didn't even flinch. "Oh, this is no kind of weather to be outside in!" "Now that's where you're wrong," Snufkin said, in that peculiar way he had of disagreeing kindly, so that a moomin almost forgot he was being disagreed with. "This is the best kind of weather to be outside in. When else but during a storm is the world so beautiful?" "I prefer a sunny midsummer's day myself," Moomin answered honestly. He followed Snufkin's gaze out towards the heaving waves. They looked cold. And dangerous. "And I'm not really sure it's a good idea to stay out here much longer unless you really want to get wet."
 "That's true," Snufkin said, with a wistful little nod.
 Moomintroll brightened. "Does that mean you'll come stay with us in Moominhouse tonight?"
 Snufkin hummed thoughtfully, his gaze still fixed on the broiling clouds sweeping towards them. "No," he decided. "Not this time."
 "But-!"
 Snufkin's eyes were warm as they flicked over at him. "Maybe next time. You can help me pack up my camp, though, if that would make you happy."
 "Alright," Moomin agreed, even though it didn't, not really. "Where are you going?"
 Seemingly almost without his permission, Snufkin's gaze drifted back towards the storm.
7. DCMK-gypsy AU
This is going to be a little present for the delightful @rainyfox3, once I get my act together to write it. ^_^; She asked for an AU where Kaito was part of a nomadic group (similar to the Romani), and Shinichi was thoroughly not prepared for that.
Warm, callused hands wrapped around his wrists, startling Shinichi into looking up. Bright, mischievous blue eyes stared back at him. It was the boy with the ringing laugh. “Come on!” he grinned.  “What a- ack!” Shinichi's words dissolved into a yelp as he was dragged bodily out of the crowd and into the centre of the square. “Dance with me!” the boy commanded, and immediately pulled Shinichi into a spin. “Wait, no, I don't-” Shinichi tried, but the boy's grip was firm, and he seemed in no mood to listen to protests. In the midst of the whirling scenery, Shinichi saw the other travellers tugging more people into the dance as the crowd of onlookers grew. He mentally shrugged. Getting out of this situation was likely to be more trouble and attention than it was worth. The reel the fiddlers were playing was familiar, at least, and the boy was a good enough leader that Shinichi's rusty dance lessons weren't all that difficult to recall.
Ask me about a WIP!

Hello everyone! This post has been a long time coming and we didn’t really expect to get as much traction as we have, but since we’ve managed to accumulate a few curious folk, we wanted to shed some light on this little AU for some of y’all who have questions but don’t know how to ask. The goal of this post is to answer a few basic questions for folks across the fandoms we tag so that there’s a bit of clarity around what the heck we’re doing here.
So without further ado, let’s begin!
WHAT IS THE WANDERERS OF LIGHT AU?
Wanderers of Light is a crossover au between two Moomin characters and the world of Final Fantasy XIV. It is an AU started by siblings who play two of our favorite fictional siblings going through the main scenario quest (MSQ) together. There is a bit of lore as to how these two started their adventure, but essentially, we're taking Little My and Snufkin from Moomin valley and transport them to Eorzea, Narnia style.
We go through the MSQ together, while also pulling shenanigans on the side. So if you like Moomins x high fantasy adventure setting, have a soft spot for sibling adventures that sometimes get a little TOO adventurous (think saving the world, killing corrupted authority figures, fighting wars, and leading revolutions among other things), or you're a FFXIV player who likes to see what other players are doing with their downtime bc oh look! G-poses, drawings, stories aside from the msq??? If you're any of these things, we welcome your follow and added interest!!
I'M A MOOMIN FAN BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT FFXIV IS, CAN YOU EXPLAIN?
Yeah! So FFXIV is an open world mmorpg where you play as the "Warrior of Light" aka your super customizable main character that can be of any of the playable races who work under any classes of your choosing.
Already lost you? Ok so take Little My, she's a Lalafell who's a warrior class, so she's the smallest race available who swings a big froggin axe! And Snufkin's a Miqot'e bard (but started as an archer!), so he's a cat boy with a bow/arrow and an array of instruments at his disposal.
Tumblr media
(screencap courtesy of our friend, Tristan)
Back on track, as the Warrior of Light (WoL), you start out as an adventurer with the class you've picked in character creation. Depending on how you want to play the game, you can follow the msq where you meet a cast of lovely characters with a storyline that packs some heavy punches in each arc--or as we call expansions, which our pinned posts are made to indicate where we are in the story so as to let people know not to mention spoilers. You can also play the game for completely different goals, like g-posing (essentially playing dolls with your characters and posing them for pretty pictures), pvp fights, Dungeon crawling/Raids with friends and complete strangers, home decoration, crafting up clothes, AND SO MUCH MORE! But for most things available, you have to unlock via msq, so be ready for that!
The community is full of friendly people who LOVE new players!!! Like if you enter a dungeon with a party of strangers and you tell them in the chat that you're new, they will be SO patient and supportive bc generally everyone wants you to have a good time here.
The story of the game revolves around you, the WoL, having time-traveled 5 years into the future from the original upload of the game where a great dragon, Bahamut, destroyed much of the world of Eorzea, and you--along with your friends, the Scions--are helping the land recover and rebuild after the Calamity.
I'M A FFXIV PLAYER AND I THOUGHT YOUR BLOG WAS CUTE, BUT WHAT ARE MOOMINS AND WHO ARE THESE CHARACTERS?
HI!! Welcome! So, I could go on about Moomins, in fact I don't think I could do much justice in a couple paragraphs. But for this au, I can give some brief explanations.
So if you google Moomins, you'll find these little white plump creatures that look so pleasant, right? Those are the titular moomintrolls created by the lovely Tove Jansson in her Moomin novels in the mid-1900s that have since expanded and exploded into a world-wide phenomenon. You have the books as well as the comics Tove and her brother created together, as well as multiple film/tv adaptations of the characters and stories. Some of the most well-known tv depictions are the 1990s anime and the 2010 Moominvalley, but there are also gems in the fuzzy-felt version, other stop-motion, and even live-action adaptations! The Moomin stories cover subject matters regarding love, loneliness and aloneness, family, friendship, growing up, and freedom among other things. It’s definitely something much deeper than what it seems on the surface!
Anyway, as you google the Moomin family, you’ll notice that among their cast of characters, you'll find an angry little girl in red and a polite looking fella in green:
Tumblr media
Those are our siblings! Half siblings, actually, which is why we've given them different races because Snufkin's papa (The Joxter) is often depicted as a cat-like creature, so he mostly takes after him.
Little My is the smallest of mymbles (which is commonly believed to be her race/species type?) who is known to be the mischievous, not afraid to speak her mind, and has an honesty in her that sometimes people don’t want to hear. She's also Snufkin's older sister. Snufkin is the baby younger sibling of the two and arguably the wisest of their friends. He's well-traveled and loves his alone time, but is a friendly fellow to find on the path. Both value their independence but usually make a great team, especially when wreaking havoc together!
END NOTES
So that should be a fair introduction! If you have any questions, we welcome asks and may even draw them out if the mood suits us. But yeah, this is basically a self-indulgent au between us that we wanted to share with the communities here. Hopefully this explains why some of y’all keep seeing them in certain tags, and let us know if you’re interested in either of the content this post has enlightened you about!

So I’ve finished Moominvalley season 2 (2019) and my god I loved it but it hurt me so much in return holy wow. Anyway if you’d like some of my thoughts about it feel free to keep reading ^-^
(fair warning it’s a lot longer than I thought it’d be)
Episode 2 the fire spirit got me so bad in my feelings and even funnier yet I could tell it would by not only the title and thumbnail but the second I heard the song by cavetown I literally was like ‘hm it sounds like something by cavetown…This should be fine’
oh how wrong I was because of how it ended with the little fire spirit sacrificing itself to save Moominvalley and how upset Snufkin was, he seemed to be pretty attached to the lil goober when the gang dropped it off.
So having his care and attempts to protect it, be basically for nothing would’ve been soul crushing for him. Especially with the fact that in the next episode it’s implied that he hasn’t left/been near his tent, makes it seem like he’s grieving the loss. (Or it could just be me being delulu again, because like snufkin wasn’t really needed for that episode but still.)
Holywow I loved how the Hobgoblin and Sniff were just bouncing off eachother so well. Then the Hobgoblin giving Sniff ✨EMPATHY✨ my god that was amazing, especially with how Moominpapa and Little My were like “ew get away from me”
I love how the Groke is now just becoming a more casual part of the community especially with the trial episode, like don’t get me wrong they’re still uneasy with her presence but they still wanted to give her a fair trial and everything.
Ooooh no the ✨The bad feelings✨ I was having about Snorkmaiden and Moomintroll were riiiighttttt. Moomintroll seemed more angry about having to leave the valley (and Snufkin by association) than leaving Snorkmaiden to the point he was unintentionally hurting her. Twice. Technically thrice if you include the fact they broke up. But I’m glad that Moomintroll is beginning to learn that he’s gonna have to accept a couple of things about Snufkin, if he ever wants him to stay. But still kinda hurts a bit.
I loved that Moominpapa and Moominmama have character arcs that don’t involve getting divorced, it’s refreshing and sure they still fight and have moments being mad at eachother but at the end of the day they still love each other and honestly? I love them for that.
Ah Moominpapas midlife crisis, I hope that I can be able to just pack up and go when I hit mine. Sounds like the dream honestly and I wish I could be as creative as Moominmama, just painting the walls with no worries.
I also LOVED the sea shanties just 👌😩 it brings me so much joy because there was a good chunk of time where that’s all I’d listen too.
The last episode though also gave me a gut punch because of the fact Snufkin came back before he left for the winter, and that he just welcomes himself in because he knows that they wouldn’t mind him being there, regardless of if they are or not. I hate it here. Snufkin you found family fuck. And that everyone there played ‘The Moomin Family’ for the kid.
“Have you checked his bedroom yet?”
“Naturally c:”
of course you have you absolute loser I love you for that. Seeing him get so excited about possibly finding HIS letter, only to be disappointed was devastating too.
Oh but the puppet show, oh when I tell you I almost cried, It’s even sadder that Moomintroll (seemingly) isn’t going to back to Moominvalley. Also my heart dropped to my ass when they almost lit the fire with the ancestors inside, but Snufkin excitedly finding the note inside the fireplace? Put my heart right back in my throat
But more lightheartedly damn Snufkin has got some moves and seeing everyone close to the Moomin family looking back at their time and memories together fondly was so incredibly sweet.
Anyways TL;DR a super strong season that got me right in the feels every time, I’m so excited to be able to start the 3rd season soon!! But thank you so much for reading this! I hope you have a wonderful day, night or time and take care!!

I’m pretty curious about Joseph (which is my middle name btw, how neat is that!?) regarding his history and personality. Oh, and being a Moomin far less removed from society as Moominpappa, I wonder of Joseph’s connections to the likes of Aunt Jane and Sir Gaylord Gobble, Moominpappa’s late sixth cousin four times removed (Who I only know of being mentioned in Ep 46 of the 90s anime).
Oh that's so cool that your middle name is Joseph!!
Anyway, Joe is a bit of a wad, you see.
Being the second child of a very rich family (Jane being the eldest and the younger being another brother named Jeremy), aswell as the older son planned to inherit the family fortune while his older sister would inherit whatever the man she marries has, his ego prone self had alot of that status get to his head and made him a bit of a prick. He's gotten up to alot of adventures with a rotating cast of people pulled in willingly or not usually in the hopes of finding treasure or fame and most of them end up with an uphill battle of who'll take the credit if the other person/people doesn't/don't comply with his demands.
Eventually when he came of age and desired to get a partner, he picked up a lower-class Moomin Maiden of grey fur and doe-eyed dreams by the name of Catherine or Cathey, playing along with her fairy tale fantasies of princes and poor women. He thought her sweet, naive, trustworthy and all the things a man would like in a woman under his thumb and treated her as lovely as she is.
When the time came for marriage and soon enough a child bearing striking resemblance to his father (even if the fur is impure), tragedy struck and all but one survivor from the rich family (Jane, save for her poor tail) had been killed or turned to stone. Catherine, being not from the family, fled by the orders of her husband and, child and newspaper cushioning in paper shopping bag, found a Moomin orphanage in the middle of nowhere, both seeing herself unfit to care for the child and so that the threat wouldn't find him, and then later she perished herself.
Joseph is like. If you took Moominpappa and made him worse by making his selfish or impulsive decisions genuinely malicious and self-serving rather than made simply from lacking foresight. He's very reminiscent of Moominpappa in the comics and some of his more aggrandizing/patronizing moments in Moominpappa's Memoirs or Moominpappa at Sea, he has his charms and his kindnesses but they get crushed aside further by the lack of genuine trying to be the better man and lacking excusable obliviousness or sympathetic plights. He generally thinks most people he meets are undeserving of his time and often ignores them when he can in favor of anyone who could provide him with his desires (be it his partner, parents, and anyone he considers useful or entertaining, high-class or otherwise)
Jane at times felt embarrassed to be related to him because of his recklessness and lack of deep care for others, she thought of him as a hazard to any social circle he's in and especially a hazard to her friends which he regularly mocks. When time came that she met her nephew, only known as (the) Moomin at the time, he felt he was back to haunt her in some twisted way because her sour memory of him viewed him as the type and it very much contributed to her derogatory and incredibly critical behavior towards her nephew.
Sir Gaylord Gobble isn't a figure Joseph would be personally familiar or involved with so there's nothing on that manner, just a distant relatives.
Moominpappa has two other relatives in the comics, a cousin named Alfred who is only mentioned in Moomin Goes Wild West in where the family time travel and meet themselves in the past, and a second cousin of Moomintroll's named Wispy from Moomin and Aunt Jane (a Lars comic) who isn't a moomin but one would assume that 1. He is probably related to Alfred if we want to make this family tree tight and 2. Interspecies genetics are weird (this is mostly why I created Jeremy whom I mentioned earlier), but neither of them have much of a connection to Joseph since Alfred was very young before the incident happened and Wispy would've been born long past his death.

Played the Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley demo
Tumblr media
teehee will the real Snufkin please stand up??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First of all the art and music are so gorgeous. The watercolor effect and paper texture are enchanting. I felt soothed just watching the intro. It's very moomin-y and made me remember how I felt when I first discovered the books. When you walk through puddles, there's the sound of splashing water, and when you cross a log bridge, it sounds like hollow wood. Ideal vibe.
I did try *cough* to jump off the cliffs and stuff... but no, you can't kill yourself in this game, bahahaha. Unsurprising but Idk I've played Sims too long and "how can I kill everyone" has become my modus operandi. Not even Moomins are safe.
You pretty much just use space bar, S, and A, so playing was easy. I encountered some trouble when jumping at times, but Idk if that was jumps being glitchy or just me still getting the hang of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Snufkin in this is freakishly strong. Able to carry rocks while jumping across a rushing river and push a giant boulder around. Superstrength!! But it is a lot of fun, really, running and jumping everywhere, climbing things... I got stuck at one point where you have to climb behind a waterfall, because I didn't think you could climb horizontally!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now this game stars Snufkin, but don't be fooled, it's really a Snufkin roast. You watch Teety-woo (who is leading the tutorial basically) follow Snufkin around getting ignored for ages x'D and he's so complimentary the whole time that it morphs into an insult. The rest of the time, in the name of helping, he does a lot of nothing and you stop feeling bad about ignoring him bahahahaha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your "mighty" harmonica x'D has the ability to calm and charm other creatures and make them fall in love with you. I don't care what anyone says, I love this whole music therapy angle. I also like finding inspiration in random bushes. It WAS a bit weird to use the harmonica on this Creep only so he could give me a boost up the cliff lol what was wrong with stacking rocks?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the harmonica's best use is DEFINITELY hypnotizing birds and then launching them at a target. Who need guns when you have birds?? Seriously this was way too much fun, who knew Looney Tunes humor would be this amusing to me as a full grown adult :P
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You get quests, like "rescue all the baby birds." But whenever you feel like it you can fuck off and go fishing for a while. Sorry mama! I didn't notice any game-related effect from it, like catching actual fish. So idk if that's the way it's meant to be, for relaxing, or if I'm just stupid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was a little confused when I got like three quests and didn't see how I'd made any progress on any of them. Then all of a sudden the mama bird, who says "woo" when she's sad and "teety" when she's happy, led to the completion of the "Find a name" quest. And I love Teety-woo praising the existential beauty of his own name, and then fucking off to pay some bills. The great Snufkin who?? I've got responsibilities!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh no... signs! Oh no... a park! Being asked to look after it is pretty funny! But the ensuing complete and total property destruction is even funnier!
Not even kidding, Snufkin demolishes this park. It was really fun! This game isn't hard, but for someone who doesn't play games, it wasn't too mindlessly simple for me either. I enjoyed dodging the park keepers, launching birds at their heads, and yeeting signs into oblivion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And we end with the discovery that Moominvalley has dried up and Moomintroll is nowhere to be found! An excellent prologue. I'm definitely looking forward to this game. I like the idea of a game that has both relaxing elements and more energetic ones without being too terribly kiddie (of course it's perfect for kids, I'm just saying, as an adult, I wasn't bored), as well as one that is whimsical and silly without losing emotional depth, with manageable, personal stakes. The demo definitely didn't take me very long to get through and I have no idea how long the full game will be. But long or short, the story seems promising.

Tayberry Moves Out
On overcoming anxiety
As May headed into its final week, Moomin was gradually able to relax somewhat and live a slightly more balanced lifestyle. They were able to go on a weekend camping trip with Snufkin and Moomintroll and briefly forget their worries. Little My began preparing the crew of the Scarlet Mymble for the annual voyage and pointedly tempting Moomin to join them. The entire crew had agreed that the voyage should be to The Hobgoblin’s Hotel every year after the excitement of last year’s trip.
“You never know, the Hotel may have an eye opening experience waiting just for you. Besides, Moominvalley will be awfully quiet with all of your friends gone. Snork Maiden will definitely miss your help in the galley. I don’t like admitting to having sentimental feelings for anyone, but I would miss you, too, if I’m to be completely honest.”, Little My reminded Moomin one afternoon in the first week of June while the family was having tea.
“If I’m meant to go anywhere, the Hotel can summon me perfectly well from here (at this they raised up the key around their neck to eye level to make their point).”, Moomin said.
“Alright, be stubborn. It’s not like I’m anyone to talk about backing down and being reasonable. Just remember that we’re leaving at the beginning of next week with or without you.”, said Little My.
“Why don’t you all just move into the Hotel permanently if you like it so much! It could send you back to Moominvalley at any time if you’re feeling nostalgic or homesick. Why would you want to come back here where you have to do everything for yourself! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some shopping to do!”, Moomin said, storming out of the front door with angry tears in their eyes.
With the boost from being upset, Moomin made their way to Linda Fillyjonk’s General Store in no time at all. Once there, Moomin realized that they had gone merely to get out of arguing with Little My, their parents and Snufkinpapa and had forgotten to make a shopping list. They stood in the middle of the store feeling ridiculous and getting more and more angry with themself as well as everyone else in their family. Linda came out from behind the counter that ran the length of the back wall and approached them calmly.
“You look like you could use a friend and a good listener more than groceries and dry goods. I’m here for you if you want me to be.”, said Linda.
“Oh! Thank you, Linda! I….it’s that my sibling, Tayberry, left Moominvalley with a new friend of hers and I’m afraid that she won’t come back….that everyone who holds Moominhouse together will go away, too! I can’t imagine Moominvalley without Moominhouse! I HAVE to do what it takes to hold it all together!”, Moomin said.
“Can I tell you a story? Fillyjonks are the biggest worriers in the world! Even more so than Hemulens! My aunt lived in a village a lot like this one in a large house her ancestors had built near the shore. Her children had all gone out into the world years ago and her husband had died immediately after the last of them departed. She kept the house immaculately clean and strictly organized to fend off any further changes in her life. She lived in constant fear and anxiety that her slightest mistake would bring her house down around her head and she would lose the last thing that gave her any sense of security. To make a long story short, a terrible storm came to shore and annihilated every trace of her house and all the things in it that she thought would fend off any disaster. She got out in time with only her life, the frock on her back, her most elegant pair of shoes, and her favorite hat on her head. She found, to her surprise, that her relief at having survived outweighed her considerable loss and that she was now free to move on. She found herself rejoicing over life itself and her newly discovered strength. The point is that no amount of worrying can fend off uncertainty, but that everyone has the strength to face both the good and bad times.”, said Linda.
“Is that story really true?! It must be! You wouldn’t tell me all that if it wasn’t! You……you’ve given me a lot to think about. My family has been trying to say the same things to me, but I was too angry at Tayberry for leaving to listen. I think I might go on this year’s voyage in the Scarlet Mymble after all. But first, I need to apologize to my family for being in such a bad temper with them.”, said Moomin.
The End

fanfics i wanna write but have absolutely no motivation nor time to
tmc characters being dropped into moomin valley. them trying to get back, but also... not. nobody WANTS to leave, but they know they cant stay. familial bonding. adam is given a mother-figure in the form of moominmama. mark, ruth, jonah, cesar, and dave are all alive (with scars where their fatal wounds were, so its not like they just... appeared into thin air. it was REVIVAL)
snufkin is forced to come to the conclusion that EVERYONE knows he likes moomintroll... except himself. when he finds out hes like... "pardon? you mean im not ill? oh thank goodness... now how do i get rid of it" (he wants to get rid of it bcuz he thinks moomintroll doesnt like him back. yknow the drill)
