in thai is it common to refer to oneself by name instead of using first person pronouns? because watching girl from nowhere — เด็กใหม่ — it seems like specifically the main character consistently does that. even though the english subtitles will use first person pronouns, she’s clearly using her own name. maybe i can only tell that she’s doing it because her name is the only one repeated enough for me to recognize it?? anyway. would love 2 know

Girl From Nowhere 2, Episode 2 : The strict teacher tried building herself wall based on the societies standards of love, in the end Nanno shows, what really love is. It's not just man-woman but also woman-woman

Girl from Nowhere Season 2
Tumblr media
WARNING MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS! [if you haven't finished already]
After more than two years, our favorite daughter of Satan made her way once again onto our screens. With its clever twists and turns, gore, and creepiness, Nanno had successfully won my heart in season 1. However, I cannot say the same thing for this season.

Compared to season 1, season 2 was lackluster to me. It always felt like something was missing, which I think was most probably due to the introduction of another entity and their ideals clashing with each other. This season felt more like a bridge season than a season by itself.
Tumblr media
Of course, we got to witness the craziness of Nanno and the chaos she brought to the sinners in the eps. The episodes are good as well, however, they lack the intensity and strong messages provided at the end of each episode in season 1. After the introduction of Yuri, we get even less time to witness the hauntingly clever mind games and manipulation of Nanno, plus Yuri always gets in her way and sabotages her plans. To be honest, I do not understand why Yuri was even added to the show in the first place.

With the introduction of transfer of power and the possibility of legacy, the writers seem to be focusing on creating more "Nannos" with the possibility of even replacing her in the future. Of course, Nanno is Nanno and her perspective and personality are what makes her interesting. If the writers do choose to introduce more Nannos in the story, I fear the series will turn bland. I read somewhere that Nanno, Junko, and Yuri are supposed to show the three types of karma in thai culture; if that's the case, then the story makes more sense. Nonetheless, I am curious to see how the writers will choose to advance the story.

This season has fewer episodes compared to the previous one, but nonetheless, it felt unfinished. To me, it couldn't revive the depth from season 1 and left many questions unanswered as well. For instance, if Nanno was really turning human and why? Or this was another one of her elaborate schemes to make Yuri believe that Nanno is really dead? If she intentionally turned Yuri or was it a mistake? If so, why? What happened to the guy who licked Nanno's bloody ice cream? and others.
Although this season felt a bit disappointing, the actors nonetheless gave a praiseworthy performance. Seriously, Chicha Amatayakul was born to play Nanno. Her quick transition from crying pitifully to laughing like a maniac always gives me chills. I can't imagine anyone other than her as our beloved daughter of Satan. Nanai from episode 1 portrayed the struggles a teenager faces during pregnancy so immaculately, especially since he is a guy. Minnie, JennyX, the teachers did a very well job to bring the characters to life as well. Not to forget Yuri and Junko who I know did their best but annoyed me to hell lol.
One request I have for the writers and directors is that if there’s going to be season 3, can you not make us wait for two long years? Thanks :).

If things are black, white or colored. Who is right? Who is wrong? and who is better than their friend? Are we really the ones to judge in this greyscale world? - Girl From Nowhere 2, Episode 6 - Liberation
