SAB/SOC twitter is talking about how the lead character of Six of Crows is Kaz and like...even disregarding the fact that it's very explicitly an ensemble work with six leads, the 'main lead' of the duology is pretty clearly Inej. She gets the most POV chapters, she gets the most character development, she's called 'the lodestone and heart' of the Crows multiple times, several vital pieces of the plot and everyone else's character motivations basically revolve around her, and the Crows' story begins and ends with her narration. Show some respect for my girl!

my favorite semi-official and somehow not overly indulgent Dadzuya moment is in the tekken comic where he saves Jin once (1) and aknowledges him as his son/a member of his family in the same breath

Like. They've both had a rough few days. Their respective subordinates have all gone haring off into the darkness to fucking kill each other. They, at least, can hash this out like grown men and come to some agreement - information for the Crows' lives - over a beer.

And. It cuts between the action-packed scenes and the quiet ones for comedic effect. Kaz and Kirigan sitting down for a civilized chat over a glass of wine in a nice refined bar. Inej hiding from, fighting and then killing the Inferni. Kaz explaining that Alina left of her own accord and escaped the Crows, too. Jesper having his shootout against Ivan. Kirigan asking whether Kaz plans to keep hunting Alina or go back to Ketterdam, and Kaz musing that he's not sure whether he can go back without Alina, he can't put Inej at risk like that. Inej/Jesper and Zoya/Ivan meeting up at their chosen rendezvous points, and panicking a little when they realise their bosses are missing. Kirigan calling for another bottle and asking who Inej is and what she is to Kaz; Kaz shrugs and asks who Alina is to him, which, alright, Mr. Brekker, fair point.

And by the time Jesper and Inej burst in, moments ahead of Zoya and a woozy Ivan, expecting to have to dive into saving Kaz's ass from the scariest man in Ravka, the Dumbass Duo are solidly tipsy, have ordered snacks, and are venting to/commiserating with each other about how fucking hard romance is.

("I called her an investment," Kaz is saying, dragging his hands down his face. "She killed a man to save me and I called her an investment. How can I possibly come back from that?")

("Don't ask me," Kirigan says gloomily, picking at a bowl of nibbles. "I thought I'd done it all right and it still didn't work. I didn't think I'd...misread her feelings. She wore the kefta, she liked the flowers, she kissed me. But no. Disappeared into the night. Just - poof. Gone.")
