              WANDERING  EYES  AREN ’ T  VERY  SUBTLE  ,  not  that  they  appear  to  be  anyway  .  she  notices  ashe ’ s  pair  eyeing  the  home  cooked  meal  shinobu  prepared  once  she  open  her  assorted  bento  .  words  unspoken  are  the  loudest  but  her  ears  still  expect  to  hear  a  question  .  she ’ ll  give  her  some  time  to  be  brave  enough  speak  up  ,  for  now  she  tries  to  swallow  that  laugh  building  up  ….  for  about  half  a  second  .  first  ,  a  smile  turns  then  a  giggle  .  covering  her  mouth  shinobu  turns  away  to  let  out  a  hearty  laugh  .

              HE ’ S  AS  FOOLISH  AS  EVER  .  she  expected  as  much  ,  for  him  to  be  so  agreeable  in  the  face  of  her  aggression  .  those  words  accumulated  over  a  long  time  &  the  lid  she  so  carefully  placed  atop  it  all  contained  cracks  .  they  finally  gave  way  .  the  smile  on  her  face  &  chipper  tone  ,  the  glue  that  held  it  all  together  ,  couldn ’ t  hold  it   back  much  longer  .  her  little  song  &  dance  of  anger  made  her  look  like  a  fool  in  the  presence  of  his  calm  .  why  didn ’ t  he  show  any  anger  or  visually  appear  disheartened  by  her  words  ?  she  just  admitted  to  lying  ;  putting  on  a  mask  of  falsehoods  ,  hiding  the  true  ——  more  fearful  girl  behind  it  .  in  a  way  ,  he  &  everyone  else  didn ’ t  know  the  true  shinobu  .  how  could  he  be  alright  with  that  ?  why  ?  ...  why  couldn ’ t  she  be  so  reassuring  &  confident  like  him  ? 

              THERE  WAS  RAGE  behind  her  words  &  it  lingered  after  he  spoke  .  part  of  her  wanted  a  negative  reaction  from  him  (  maybe  after  suffering  there  was  comfort  &  familiarity  in  the  taste  of  cruelty  )  .  she  wanted  to  argue  .  pointing  her  fingers  &  aiming  at  a  target  to  release  her  anger  would  probably  justify  the  mess  she  allowed  to  boil  over  &  spill  ,  but  her  shameful  attempt  left  her  with  a  shattered  pot  .      ❛      i  apologies  ,  rengoku - san  .  i  was  being  very  hostile  with  you  ,      ❜      shinobu  hung  her  head  low  .  her  eyes  couldn ’ t  even  glance  at  his  shadow  ,  she  didn ’ t  feel  disserving  to  look  upon  someone  like  him  .  like  the  sun  ,  he  was  far  too  bright  to  look  at  .  her  apology  was  a  pathetic  attempt  at  picking  up  the  broken  pieces  .  what  was  said  had  been  said  .  there  was  no  taking  back  those  harsh  words  &  yet  she  wanted  to  retract  them  but  instead  her  hands  are  left  with  cuts  ——  an  emotional  scar  acting  as  a  reminder  to  bottle  these  emotions  better  .
