mmmm draxum rant under cut vvv (ab how the fandom treats him not the guy himself)

i love the rottmnt fandom but the way that ppl treat draxum.. y'all love evil bastards but can't STAND when they get redeemed in a satisfying (and character-accurate) way fr. his backstory is very clearly that of a survivor amongst a species that, for the most part, had been shoved into one city underneath New York, by force.

and hell yeah draxum was an evil bitch about it! he wanted to wipe humanity tf out! but when you realize that all he's experienced with humans was essentially them shoving his kind underground, u sorta understand why he does what he does.

but then in fics he's this like.. heinous bastard willing to commit every form of torture imaginable when that's literally not him? at all?? he's never been shown to torture people. the closest we saw was in the first episode when the pizza delovery guy asked if the oozquito would hurt and he said "yes.. if i'm doing it right" and that's IT. that is IT.

and then he got another perspective of humanity through mikey! he saw the mother & her kid during that one episode and decided oh fuck they're just like us fr!! and SAVED her ass. even if he was and always would be all shy about it n shit, he still HELPED humanity in the end. MULTIPLE TIMES.

and again, the fics i read? love them. love them so much. they're so well written and the storylines are always CHEFS KISS but every time it goes over draxum being a ✨evil bastard willing to psychological torture anyone and anything to get to his goal✨ i either sit through it with a mental >:[ in my head or i skip it entirely, because reading it feels like a betrayal of an incredibly well written character and his redemption.

anyways i am a draxum apologist through & through. if you like making him that way, good on you for vibin, but personally i want the guy to be happy in the end

Imagine Joltik electrotherapy. You have these teeny critters nibbling on a battery, then nipping at juuuust the right nerve cluster.

Emmet trained his horde to zap him and Ingo whenever the repetitive motion gets too much; apparently, evidence for electrotherapy on fatigue is anecdotal at best, but if anyone would get inexplicable results, it would be them. (It's also supposed to help with range of motion).

Fun fact: we don't fully understand how the brain works, but we do know that zapping certain parts of it can help with depression and some other stuff that's still under review (seriously, sometimes brain research would just be, "let's put a magnetic field in your brain; if your eyes get bad while the machine is on, that's the visual cortex").

Warden Ingo vaguely remembers that tidbit, and asks Melli if Lord Electrode can lightly shock his brain to get his memories back. It doesn't work, but Ingo at least thinks, "Hm, yes, this feels familiar."

This is why his eyes glow in Hisui.. too many joltik shocks directly to the head. Gets too tired and the 13 joltiks under his hat start shocking his brain to puppet him around like a ratatoullie

i disliked dream massively after the whole cheating thing, not really because he cheated (that sucks but also whatever) but because the way he handled the whole situation (doubling down, very clearly faking results and statistics, being extremely nasty to the people who pointed out how rare his stats were) was just so immature. i was like wow this guy will never take accountability for anything. and then he never did

yeah!! yeah fucking exactly. How easy would it have been to say “oh my bad it’s possible I fucked up. Let me double check.” But that was never gonna happen. he just doubled down so much it was actually crazy. And that’s how it was forever and always.

its been a rough week. i dont want to be disrespectful and make the whole horner situation about ‘uuhuhhhuhh my poor interest!!’ bc thats not my main point at all but it HAS affected me a lot. especially in how i enjoy/see f1 rn. idk the stress of it all really really made f1 feel like less of a safe hyperfix place for me and instead of taking away stress (i mean ill always be stressed about racing, but thats the FUN stress yk ☹️) gave me a lot more. i think i just need a break for a few days or something 🥺🥺🥺 thankfully its not race week

that brings me to my second thing tho: i use f1 a lot. its my special interest + hyperfixation and this mixed with still going through a breakup atm is just. not to be dramatic but it feels like im losing another part of my life ☹️☹️ its not that serious i know and ill recover from this but its rn just making me feel BAD and everything.

i also miss having a partner. and im on my period. so fun times 😨😨😨
