I have terrible motivation, but once while I was in a super goofy mood I started writing a fic where the Mayor, upon noticing that Faith and Buffy clearly have romantic feelings for one another, realizes that the best way to get both slayers on his side is to convince Buffy to date Faith. What I’m trying to get at is, The Mayor plays matchmaker for Faith and Buffy as part of his evil Ascension plan and not at all because he loves Faith and wants her to be happy. There was also a subplot were the Mayor kept “gently” encouraging the people of Sunnydale to wildly flirt with Angel as a plot to break up him and Buffy, but Angel was just... so not understanding that he’s being hit on. And another subplot was the Scoobies all basically going “what do you mean it’s not heterosexual to be attracted to people of the same gender??”

Hot take (but not really hot, more like lukewarm, and also not really a take), but the Angel-Cordelia-Doyle dynamic was so fucking good. Like c’mon, a centuries old vampire playing detective who also has to babysit his two constantly-in-danger coworkers, a kickass former cheerleader with a crossbow and a sarcastic half-demon seer who’s definitely not heterosexual? Astounding. They all have the emotional intelligence of the blueberry scone, but someone how they love and appreciate each other. It’s some good, underrated stuff.

utterly irrelevant but i always feel so many emotions for that one scene in Fredless where Cordy, Gunn, Angel, and Wesley are just sitting around talking about how nice it was to meet Fred’s parents who were actually… paternal. like, they’re demon hunters who save the world and fight the good fight, but beneath it all they still just want love and approval?? they’re all so tentatively excited and shocked that people would be so loving just because they can??? it’s supposed to be a comedic moment, but it’s kind of really sad?? and even further than that, it become a very final moment wherein they all realize that this is it. you don’t get to step away from the supernatural world, especially when you have nothing to go back to. Angel Investigations is home now, because it must be. it’s bittersweet, because the moment is very… familial, in that they’re brought together by circumstance but are now held together by more than just the mission, but still, there’s no out, no escaping. The course they’ve set upon is an inevitable one, a singular outcome in fighting the things going bump in the night. And they’ve accepted that.
