There are lots of shiny hunts I think are cool, I just have no interest in doing myself (like shiny lock removals, or the shiny costumes in battle revolution, or a shiny in the orre games) and I wanna hear about other cool hunts. Maybe pick something new to add to my hunting bucket list.

SO. Question for you all. What is your biggest white-whale shiny, and have you hunted it?

Mine was probably ranger manaphy or wshmkr jirachi, both of which I have successfully hunted. maybe a gen 1 hunt of some kind (I have done one, I ended up doing eevee, but I think any gen 1 hunt would have been cool)

There's one last hunt I'd really like to do before bank goes down, and it's honey tree munchlax. I'm working on getting a munchlax to spawn, so hopefully I'll have time to actually do the hunt before bank is dead

Both munna were friend safari, both mime jr were hordes. Unfortunately not long after getting them there was a mishap and I lost the data for those hunts so I can't say how many encounters they all were

The female mime jr will be galarian mr. Mime while the male will be mr. Ryme. And the munna in a heal ball will be evolved as well

Shiny deoxys numero dos, after 1779 encounters. 1000 were run aways in emerald, and then I switched to srs in leafgreen.

Named after one of the nucleobase which compose nucleotides (which compose dna)

I would be the worst at shiny reaction type videos lmaoo. my coolest shiny to this day is either manaphy or jirachi and tbh I don't remember how I reacted to jirachi, but to manaphy I just said 'holy fucking shit' in a tone that made my brother think I was mad. big, over-the-top reactions? couldn't be me

Shiny Wishmaker Jirachi has finished his ribbon master journey and is now resting comfortably in pokemon home. And with that. my two biggest white whale shinies are totally done!

Here's Luca all snug in Home btw. He shined in 1031 encounters, about 40 of which were with a timer to aim for a specific shiny frame. Like I said, I didn't intend in getting the shiny that way and was just doing a few in the beginning of each session for the hell of it.

Named after the concept in biology of a 'last universal common ancestor' which is pretty much what mew is to pokemon

So in pokemon emerald, I would ideally like to get a non-manip mew AND 3 more deoxys before bank goes offline, since I'd like to have all deoxys forms in my living shiny dex.

I have transferred the manip mew up to home, and have decided I am going to focus on deoxys for now, as I think in the long run I'd regret it more if I focused on mew and thus ran out of time for deoxys vs if I focused on deoxys and ran out of time for a second mew.

So. For now, it's all systems go on 3 more deoxys, which will hopefully be quick

Like on one hand, I do feel less satisfied with the shiny mew because of the manip. But on the other, there's nothing wrong with trying manip as a hunting 'method' and deciding it's not for me. I did that with gen 2 breeding. I tried it, I got my shiny, and when I decided it wasn't how I wanted to play the game, I didn't release the shiny. I kept it, and just moved on to methods I did enjoy.

I think that's kind of where I'm at with it. I feel like it cheapened the shiny, but the shiny is still perfectly legit and legal, and can go in my living dex as a souvenir of the one time I tried rng manip.

BUT. will I be satisfied with a manip'd shiny in my living dex.

So, uh, little question.

Since I hunted deoxys, I was curious about what shiny frame I hit. So I dumped the save onto an sd card to check it out.

This led to me noticing I had a pretty early shiny frame, and just for the hell of it when I start my mew hunting sessions I've been using a timer to see if I can hit it. I didn't really intend on doing the hunt this way, I've just been giving it five or so tries at the beginning of my sessions.

Well. I hit it just now.

And now I don't know if I wanna catch the shiny because, I mean, I need this shiny. Or if I consider it rng manipulated and thus not fitting for my dex. I didn't mod the game or anything, but I did use a timer for the frame. Which is manipulation.

Maybe I just catch it, call it my one foray into rng manip out of curiosity, and allow it to be an oddity in my dex? In the end it's not that different than other hunting methods

But on the other hand, I did use external programs to see my frames and time it, so, does that make it too much like cheating?

SO QUESTION.

Edit: I caught it, but won't save until I've decided. I think most people consider rng manip a form of shiny hunting, but I have to decide if I feel like it cheapens my mew to the point of not wanting to keep it.

My luck has been stupid good lately. Manaphy in under 2000, jirachi in just over 3000, and now deoxys in less 550. I feel like I'm due for a long one soon
