Yes Baek Eun-ho, be allured by the over-talkative, hyper, wonderfully exaggerated swag that is our favourite character (Yoo Hee-yeon)...

honestly feeling the need to apologize for not appreciating live action zoro's humor enough the first watch. zoro was really out there in the first episode alone shit talking his opponents and putting a bounty hunter's HEAD on the bar cracking the 'he needs a drink, he's had a rough day' joke. cutting helmeppo’s hair off like that. bestie thinks he's so funny / probably internally laughing at his own jokes but he's this intimidating ass demon swordsman & his delivery is so dry that everyone just stares at him like 'r we supposed to laugh or be scared rn???'

people often treat zoro as this devoted dude who would blindly and without a doubt do anything for luffy. and don't get me wrong, he definitely is! but what people usually forget, too, is that zoro is the one that keeps luffy grounded and realistic. he's his first mate. he's the one to stop luffy from being irrational or if he does something not worthy of being the captain. he trusts luffy with his heart and soul, but whenever the guy is acting stupid, he tells him without hesitation and stops him.
i'm tired of people making it look like zoro is this big, stupid swordsman who would do anything luffy asked him to because he is not. he would follow luffy to hell and back, not because it's luffy, but because he trusts him consciously and willingly. he chooses to trust luffy. he isn't a brainless dude in love with his captain. he literally stops, thinks about what luffy says, and then proceeds to either agree with his idea or to stop him right away.
why? because that's his fucking job as a first mate.
captains can and will be stupid and irrational too. being the captain of a ship is not being the one to decide everything and it doesn't make you instantly the smartest. luffy is human. he can make mistakes and he can fuck up and that's why he needs somebody like zoro with him. luffy knows this. that's why he chose zoro. not because he was the first one to appear in front of him, but because from the moment they met, luffy instantly knew he would be the one to ground him and keep him in his place if he ever got carried away.
i'm also sick of people pretending zoro's love for luffy is this huge, poetic, religious thing (it is, though) and making it seem like luffy's devotion to zoro isn't the same fucking thing. this shit is not unrequited, folks, i don't care if you don't know how to read luffy's character but the guy trusts zoro just as much too.
TL;TR: these two are not as stupid as y'all make them seem. devotion goes both ways. if luffy does something wrong, zoro will stop him. and luffy loves him trusts him just as much.

When Only Friends is over and everyone has moved on, we will always remember that the fandom had such an outrage over a two second clip of a man touching another man’s hip tattoo that the director had to apologize and edit every version to put the scene back in

Between Sanji subtly telling Luffy to be more decisive and Nami straight-up criticizing Luffy for being a bad leader and Luffy afterwards losing to Arlong and seemingly losing one of his crew members — Luffy is actually doubting himself at this point. In the manga, Luffy doesn’t remotely get humbled like this until much later. Luffy always saves and protects his crew members but when he is the one who needs something — when he needs encouragement or getting saved — it is usually Zoro, his first mate, who does or says the right thing. In this case, Zoro renews Luffy’s confidence in his crew (by vowing to be a part of it until the end) and also in his role as the captain. And again, the first time this happens in the manga is much later so I am just beyond appreciative that they gave us such a moment this soon on the show.

Casey wrote a queer political romance novel, Matthew made a queer rom com with some politics sprinkled in.
Those are different things.
I wish they could have kept Rafael Luna and made Richards the villain he is in the book... But this is amazon. They invested in this film and they want their money's worth. They want this film to appeal to as many people as possible.
Making the republican candidate a sexual predator who goes around hacking private email servers to out queer kids to win an election isn't going to fly with the conservative/republican audience (though I don't know if they'd watch a queer rom com in the first place but I digress).
They changed the queen to a king and changed the family name as to not piss off the real British royal family. They didn't make the king as blatantly homophobic and racist as the queen is in the book so it wouldn't piss off the royalists.
And I remember seeing a post with tweets from the creator of... I don't remember what show - some cartoon that aired on Disney I think - where they explained all the things Disney wanted them to change in the show and the things they had to fight to keep.
We know the MAAP told Matthew to take out the Paris love scene or they'd give it an R rating. We know he said fuck you to that and kept it in. We don't know how much amazon's execs gave him shit for before officially signing off on the version we can watch now.
They cut an hours worth of stuff, and it probably wasn't all *just* for time.
We got the most sensual and intimate sex scene I have ever seen in any piece of media, we had a conversation between a mother and son where she basically named the entire acronym before Alex told her he's bi. And then she just accepts it and reminds him about safe *anal* sex.
They had Uma Thurman say bottoming!
We don't know how much Matthew López has had to fight amazon for any of those things. And how much he's had to compromise.
Just something to keep in mind.
Having said that - release the deleted scenes amazon!!

with all the beautiful gay content coming out I felt a need to rewatch Young Royals and I am further affirmed that that shit is top tier. the intimacy, the writing, the CHEMISTRY, the acting, the visuals, the soundtrack/score, just ALL of it is the definition of a television chefs kiss and I will forever be obsessed with it

going through the tag was so much fun before the movie dropped, now i get annoyed at every other post i see. the expectations some of you had for this movie? unfathomable to me. imagine they had included june and rafael and leo and all the plot points you cry about not making the final cut and think about the scenes they would have had to delete to make room for all of that. idk about y'all but i rather have them focus on the love story and make the most of that instead of taking bits and pieces from every other storyline without fleshing out any of them. would it have made a great tv show? YES. did we get a tv show? no, we got a movie and a damn good one at that. if you miss june or "cornbread knows my sins, henry" that's valid but how about you just read the book again? it isn't gone just because the movie came out. read the book, love the book and simply view the movie as additional content instead of a replacement of the source material, it's not that hard.
