hi! i just finished your chessboxing au. woaw. im going to reread it tomorrow, actually. i was curious to ask, how do you weed out any ideas that aren't tangible enough to make Something out of, and do you have any wips you want to spill some beans on?

That is an... interesting question. @lifewithoutrainydays recently pointed out that I have a tendency to throw myself headfirst into stories when all I have is Vibes without thinking too much of the logistics behind them, which I think is a fairly good representation of my creative process - and often leads to some pretty gnarly, gaping plotholes and times when people ask me worldbuilding questions and i have to shrug wildly and go 'I HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE, SORRY'. The answer to this question is, i think, the weeding of ephemeral ideas happens naturally and without me giving much consideration to it. Either the wispy see-through idea gets developed the more I think about it and grows stronger as I pour more into it, or it just dies a forgotten death somewhere before I can get anywhere with it. I know this probably isn't very helpful. (And if this isn't what you meant, let me know, I may have understood the question wrong.)

Unfortunately, I don't have any Sanders Sides WIPs that y'all don't know about at the moment! I just have the TLT AU (next chapter currently nearing post-ready completion, and I'm pumped to get that out), and the Syzygy epilogue, which I am... struggling with. I'm in the last semester of my undergrad at the moment, which involves a Fairly Large creative project, and because of that I don't have a lot of spare energy for new creative stuff in this fandom. I'm still hanging around and tossing ideas at myself, but... no new writing projects! Not yet! I'll get some more on the burner eventually.

"Because they’re the same person, but their perspectives have been separated until now, and they’d experienced" And it cuts off from there. Was there supposed to be something there or forgot a period? My brain can't shut up about this. It's weirdly cut off, not gonna lie.

Good evening! I have a random question. Because my current obsession continues to be Syzygy (And Eucat and Sanders Sides) I can't help but wonder about the world building. I have thousands of questions but because of current events, this one question stands out more. What does happen in the Syzygy Universe when a total Solar eclipse happens (Or an eclipse in any matter). Like any special things happen when infusing foods with the current state of the sun/moon? Does any tarot card reading just doesn't make sense because of the moon getting in the way? Does the Sun propaganda celebrate because the sun isn't in full view of the Earth?

oh yeah, we ARE getting a syzygy, aren't we? I live in Australia, so I don't get to see it, but it's still fucking excellent.

There's three main types of eclipse in the Syzygy universe: solar, lunar, and astral. Solar eclipses, aka what happens in chapter eight, are when you have the sun, moon, and Earth lined up in that order. Lunar eclipses happen when the sun and moon sandwich Earth. Astral eclipses, rarest sort, are when all of the planets (+ the sun) in the solar system happen to line up perfectly with the Earth, so you can draw a line from one end to the other. (Remember, this is a geocentric solar system! So the Earth's in the middle of everything.)

In all cases, the perfect straight-line alignment of three or more solar bodies causes a massive fluctuation of energy. If you've got any food out infusing, it essentially gets supercharged. It's like extra-spicy, but magic - some people can't tolerate the superenergy spice, others swear by it.

In solar eclipses, the moon + sun essentially dancing so close together means that, rather than prophecy and fortune getting blocked out, it gets a boost - teamwork! Solar eclipses are a good time for fortune-tellers. Lunar eclipses, not so much - the sun gets grumpy about the fact that it can't see its husband, so it just refuses to give anything at all for the duration. If you're planning on doing something sneaky that you don't want any prophets predicting, it's a good time to do it. The Sunbaners are particularly fond of getting things done on lunar eclipses.

Astral eclipses happen so rarely that there's no much literature on them - the last time one happened was centuries ago - but the general consensus is that when every planet is lined up with the Earth and the sun, things get fucking weird.

so youve done matilda, and the locked tomb. any other books series youd be interested in doing sasi crossovers with and why? personally im a huge fan of the idea of a night circus crossover, though the characters would be hard to match directly. i just think the vibes are great

I'm not familiar with the Night Circus, although just looking at the summary I can't help but agree. And honestly I think it's more fun when you don't match characters one-to-one while doing fusions and crossovers, when you're trying hard to fit characters into certain molds you lose at lot about what makes them unique. and I say this as someone who's fallen into that trap a bit while writing the Locked Tomb AU.

ANYWAY that wasn't the question.

Right at the top of the list is Dracula, because I've always wanted to do an epistolary and I've been feeling the urge to try my hand at some vampire nonsense for a while now. This is the most likely to actually happen.

Series of Unfortunate Events and/or All The Wrong Questions (the prequel series by the same author) - Lemony Snicket has such a fun, distinctive narrative voice, and the world is surreal and weird in a way that I think I'd enjoy playing around in. Having the Baudelaires move in with long-lost uncle Thomas would be nice and fun too as a concept. ('that isn't patton! that's clearly count olaf pretending to be janus pretending to be patton!')

Not precisely a crossover, but I really want to do a fic that cribs the vibes and atmosphere of Madeleine L'engle's Kairos/O'Keefe series for a long loooong time. I actually have a typed-out typewritten first few pages of something like this, although it ended up getting massively revised into Syzygy (and I haven't touched it since because it feels like it would be a bit too similar for my liking)

also, Jantigone got me really thinking about playscripts and adapting various plays through the lens of these characters - I really, really enjoyed doing it, and if I ever get my brain hooked on another old play the way I did with Antigone, I may have to do it again.
