like not to belabor the fuckin point but the best part about the kiss chapters is the consent, the ENTHUSIASM of it all

i keep coming back to this frame

we've seen the two of them in similar positions before, but almost always with mo reactive and defensive, angrily flustered

here you can tell from the way his head is tilted forward into he tian's space, not trying to escape or make distance, how his hand is holding the edge of the table for balance but not gripping it in some form of fear or panic. he's clearly blushy and flustered but like. into it. anticipating something

nvm this potentially being my favorite series of panels in history, but both of their EXPRESSIONS. first panel, he tian pushing a thumb into mo's lips, and mo not tensing up, letting him part his lips. second panel, looking like he's leaning into the other hand coming up to touch him. mo not only accepting his own feelings for he tian but willing to act on it??

and he tian?? i'm obsessed with how he's looking at mo?? the way he goes from not blushing in the 3rd panel to BLUSHING in the 4th, overwhelmed by mo, by his own emotions, by imagining, hope against hope, what could happen next....

I personally think that the cheek kiss was perfect for Mo, he just started to accept his feelings for He Tian, he's not gonna jump the man, he's new to this showing love and caring for those he love (besides his mother and father)

it’s not just that guan shan kissed him, it’s the fact that he was so overwhelmed by he tian in general that he felt he had no choice but to grab him and drag him to his bedroom so he could have him to himself for just a moment, just a precious second, and yes his mother saw them leaving the kitchen together but that doesn’t matter because guan shan gets to have he tian for just a precious second after the shitstorm that has been the last couple of days — and he tian lets him because, well, of course he does and because he’d risk it all before he wouldn’t let guan shan have him in all the ways he so desperately wants him even if it’s new to them and doesn’t come easily or naturally. and that’s. that’s love folks. that’s a wrap. that’s a goddamn fucking wrap.

Hello! Of course it’s not a bother, I like to help! :)

The veiled hat is called “wéimào/帷帽”. I wrote a little on it in this post, and I also have a weimao tag. Below: historical weimao.

The original form of the weimao was the “mìlí/幂蓠”, a hat with a body-long veil that originated from the foreign cultures of the northwest. The mili became popular during the Sui dynasty (581-618), especially among ladies of the nobility who rode horses on public roads. The fancier veils were adorned with jade and kingfisher feathers. Below: mili in a historical drama.  

The mili’s veil shortened toward the end of the Sui, and the new wide-brimmed hat with shoulder-length veil was known as a weimao. During the Tang dynasty (618-907), the weimao became so popular that edicts to wear the more modest mili were ignored. It was popular not just among palace women, but also among commoners who followed their lead. Below: weimao in historical dramas.
