“[… M]any of us have never had a good role model on how to have civil and productive disagreements. I took a great class that helped me a lot when it comes to having difficult conversations. 1. focus on the behavior, not the person, not their motives. 2. don’t assume you know why somebody is doing something. (I.e they are coming in late because they are lazy). Because then you get stuck in a moral judgment scenario, not a problem solving scenario. Ask questions and remain curious before you decide you “know” something. 3. You don’t have to get to mutual agreement that behavior X is a problem/wrong/shouldn’t happen, etc . Then you are stuck in the problem. What you have to get to is an agreement about a mutual solution. 4. It is possible to have a solution to a problem without either party having to admit they are wrong. They just have to agree that they will do X instead of Y. 5. It is even possible to resolve an issue and still think the other person was being ridiculous/overreacting, whatever. As long as you have a solution that both parties agree to, you can feel however you want to about it, as long as you honor the agreement. 6. And remember that somewhere there is somebody who is having a problem with you. Yes, you. How do you want them to approach you about it? Try that.”

as a Jew I find the antisemitic trope of the Wandering Jew endlessly fascinating and there’s a version of it that lives rent free in my head that I can’t get out
because yes, we have been cursed—not by G-d, but by man; not for anything we’ve done, but for libel against us—and the curse antisemites have forced on us is that we must wander forever. we don’t get a home, here or there. we aren’t allowed to put down roots in diaspora, but we aren’t allowed to return either; regardless of which we do, the nations try to drive us out and impose their sentence on us: you must wander some more
there is a deconstructed version of the Wandering Jew that I want to reclaim, not as a testament to our sin but as a witness to the nations’, how they’ve treated the wanderer in their midst. on some level, a witness to how the nations treat all wanderers: Jew, Roma, bedouin. but ultimately, a testament to the libel & persecution we as Jews have endured & persevere through
this Wandering Jew is a weary old immortal forced to wander by hatred that goes before him through the nations, who has seen those nations come and go, empires rise and fall, and bears witness to our plight through every one, waiting for injustice to be righted so he can finally rest

I've been getting a lot of new followers lately so here's a rent lowering gunshot to make sure nobody's coming here expecting boot licking
"don't use mental disorders as insults" includes "narcissist" and "psychopath" and "delusional"
"natives have a right to live in their ancestral land and practice their culture" includes Palestinians AND Jews (and war is bad can we please agree war is bad??)
"you are not immune to propaganda" includes you the person reading this and me the person typing and all types of propaganda and cultural biases it's not just a billboard saying "obey government" it includes growing up thinking that punishment is necessary for justice and the assumption that a modern-looking city isn't in Africa and that tumblr post you didn't think much about before reblogging
"everyone deserves human rights" includes even the worst person you can think of and the people you personally think shouldn't exist

I'm so fascinated by the decision to use a Europe-only map and then paste in Israel off the coast of Ireland of all places like they could have just used a map with Israel on it it's right there in the corner and a lot of maps of Europe do include it?? Just. Fascinated.

America is absolutely disconnected to meat
I think I realized this when I had went to see my dad and stepmom one day and asked if I could place my hawk’s food. (A rabbit leg) in the freezer. My step mom was disgusted by the idea that a leg from an animal was in the freezer meanwhile an entire chicken was sitting in the fridge.
Your rotisserie chicken is an entire chicken.
Your pork chop is a hunk of pig.
Your rack of ribs are from a cow’s rib cage.
It’s like Americans view meat as colorful red and pink hued shapes that just exist and come into the world packaged.
You see so many people getting harassed or even having their content flagged for showing how to process or field dress meat when it’s at it’s freshest. Right after culling. For some reason this is considered “gore” by many folks when in reality it’s no more different from plucking a processed chicken after cull.
You also notice that Americans have an idea of what’s normal meat and what isn’t normal meat and there’s racist undertones that I’ve noticed in a lot of these comments left on foreign cooking videos
You have people that claim a video of a man in a different country preparing something like this is “eating a dog.” Meanwhile this is roasted goat.
Tumblr media
You have people who’s only perception of an edible fish is in fillet or fish stick form and they call something like this nasty because “Eww there’s a head!” Yeah.. most animals have heads..
Tumblr media
Some of ya’ll need to realize what your meat looks like prior to processing and that it’s prepared in different ways. We also need to erase the stigma behind non traditional meats.
