There's a world with a rhythm for you and me!

Hi Welkin hiiiii :3 this guy is SO SILLY I'm really happy with how his designs turned out 🩷🩵 as always, extra info under the cut!!!

I'M NOT GOING TO LIE. i have very little figured out on Welkin right now... So, let's start at the beginning, I guess?

I'm not really sure what the deal with Welkin's childhood is. I know he had some Heavy Isolation stuff, but considering that he's either a Tall-man/Half-Foot and Beastkin, it isn't really that surprising. I think that he was raised mostly by his older brother, but he eventually left his homeland for new horizons! Or something. Also his parents were chefs. That's important to me.

I think that he makes a really interesting contrast to Izutsumi, because while they are Both Cats, Izu shows a ton of those catlike behaviors, while Welkin very actively tries Not To. Whether that is successful or not depends on the situation.

Welkin is a sort of dual character? He presents as this very energetic and maybe a little shallow person, but he is someone who cares incredibly deeply and worries just as much to match. He is NOT winning the IDGAF wars. He also has a tendency to get lost in thought a ton, but never bothers to explain what he's got on his mind. He wears his heart on his sleeve when it comes to how he feels about others, but never what he actually thinks. Does that make sense? Anyways, because of this duality, Welkin acts without thinking a lot, mainly in battle. If he doesn't, he'll start clamming up, so better to just rip the band-aid off, I guess. It usually works out, to the dismay of his party members.

Welkin is a performer/bard, sort of by Force? Nobody really takes him seriously, so it's really All he can do. Despite this, he can't play a tune to save his life. So, his musical instrument of choice are these two tambourines! He can also perform illusion magic :3

He's a part of Laios' party, and I think he serves very well as a distraction! His tambourine is loud and his illusions are nothing to scoff at! He's been a part of Laios' party since before the start of the plot. I think when they first met, Welkin forgot his own name. Not for any reason, Welkin is just like that.

He's working as an adventurer because he's saving up to open a bakery! He's been working at it for around 2-3ish years at this point.

OK basic info OVER!!!!! now I get to write about EVIL THINGS 💥💥💥 it's literally just party relationships.

Laios - THEY'RE SO BEST FRIENDS YOU DONT UNDERSTANDDDDDD.... Welkin finds Laios Incredibly Cool, and he genuinely loves listening to him talk about monsters. Welkin is always there to lend an ear and a hand, even if he doesn't follow Laios' plans sometimes. There's a nice friendship there,, a no judgement zone!!! They get each other. They're best friends.

Falin - Being close with Falin sorta comes with the territory of being bffs with Laios! Welkin appreciates Falin a lot, and they're very nice to each other :3 friend Chip :3

Marcille - They're also really close friends!!! Despite Welkin's pretty obvious biases towards Laios, he tries to see things from her perspective, and tries her best to calm her down if she is freaked out by something. I think that Welkin also likes to ask her questions about magic (goes for Falin too tbh)

Chilchuck - oh it's so over. Welkin thinks he's the coolest thing to ever exist in the whole wide world. They're close-ish, and they can usually be found standing next to each other. Welkin thinks it is amazing and incredibly admirable how Chilchuck is able to lead the party through dangerous situations! They have a silly relationship, it consists of a lot of banter and (play) arguments I think.

Senshi - Welkin is usually watching in awe when Senshi cooks things. He finds the environment of a bustling kitchen really nice, and loves learning things about cooking. Welkin is decent with a knife, so I'd like to think he helps in meal prep sometimes! Welkin is a known sweet tooth haver, which Senshi is trying to Discourage but also. The silly is too strong I'm sorry Senshi you can't fix him

OKOK OK ONE LAST THING!!!! based off of the Shapeshifter Chapters, here's what the doubles of Welkin would look like!!!!

Laios' Welkin: In Laios fashion, his double of Welkin is pretty accurate, with just one detail missing: his tail bow is missing the dangly bits. Otherwise, he's pretty on point from the little we'd see if Laios Welkin. First to be booted.

Chilchuck's Welkin: So,, take Welkin's playful personality and turn it up to 11. Chil's Welkin is the kind of guy always down to mess around, and is a little too lighthearted than normal Welkin. There's a few noticeable differences, like, his hair isn't in the normal ponytail, but the thing that gets him booted off is the fact that his tambourine has, like, 6 extra bells on it. Because. Chil is the Sneaker. And Welkin is someone who is supposed to be Loud.....

Senshi's Welkin: Quiet, sweet, and demure, just a guy who wants to learn how to make sweets! I think he might be a little more kid-ish than regular Welkin,,, ALSO instead of having his little waist-scarf thing, he'd have a little apron!!!

Marcille's Welkin: Basically, just someone who's always down to help and offer a smile! Marcille's Welkin is way more calming than the rest, because of Welkin's habit of trying to make sure that Marcille (and his party as a whole. But mostly Marcille because she needs it the most i think) is feeling ok and alright! This is the Welkin who manages to make it to the Final Round so to speak, but is easily disqualified when Laios notices that this Welkin's temper is non-existent, and a few other things I haven't figured out yet jfjdjsj
