Final Wonder Trade: A week on

The last Wonder Trade I made: Sewaddle in a Moon Ball, received a Porygon-Z. So I'm going to sort out what Pokemon to move forward. One of my last Wonder Trades was a Seedot named "ECLIPSE2024". If I ever become a successful author, I would use my wealth to fight against injustice or pull a Suzanne Collins and disappear, only going out in public to promote a new book.

It's ironic, that despite being hailed as "The Book Series that got kids reading", Harry Potter basically hastened the decline in reading. Teachers have said in recent months that Generation Alpha can't read at all. In a 2023 survey of "Things British Generation Alpha are into" Harry Potter isn't even in the Top Ten, with American and Japanese Brands dominating. My Generation Alpha cousins don't care about Harry Potter at all; in fact the only "Millennial" thing they're into is Pokemon, and that is because Millennial parents are introducing their kids to the franchise, and many former fans are saying they won't read Harry Potter to their kids. Reading the books as an adult, you realize that nothing changed in the Wizarding World, with the status quo remaining the same. Compare that to The Hunger Games: Katniss' decision to kill Coin instead of Snow was to prevent another dictator from taking over Panem and also allow a more democratic system to emerge. I noticed in my experience that people that was voracious readers before being introduced to Harry Potter would still remain huge book readers into middle-age, while people that was introduced to Harry Potter never read anything else. In sixty years time people will be reading The Lord of The Rings, while Harry Potter will be looked at in the same way works by Enid Blyton is seen today.

Final Wonder Trades

I remember back in the days I was on FFN how people printed fan fiction they loved and put it in a binder, for their own personal use or to see how far they progressed as an author. If I decide to book bind in the near future I will use my own fan fiction instead. When I do bind "Beyond The Pale" it will be for my own use and also to show how much I have improved as an author.

As promised! I wrote about the illegal fanbinding that's led to writers deleting their works recently, how that connects to the current pull-to-publish wave, and what happens when the rapidly expanding sphere of fic readers starts to get disconnected from *fandom*:

The ever-increasing reach of fanfiction has inched the practice away from text-written-in-community to a more traditional author-reader relationship—and the context collapse that’s come with viral works being treated like any other romance novel has spurred clashes between different types of readers with different sets of expectations. In the past few years, fic authors across all corners of fandom have increasingly complained about shifting attitudes from readers who treat them like any other content creator, demanding the next chapter as you might demand your favorite influencer’s next video. But unlike on creative platforms like TikTok and YouTube, the fic writer doesn’t get revenue from their new installment.

We'll also talk about this in some capacity on the next episode of @fansplaining! (In contrast with today's episode, on the non-monetized, gift-economy practices of many fanbinders, whose hobby is also imperiled by the people selling and buying fic.)

Now that all Wonder Trades are done

I can now finish off my WT list and try and get the following:

Johto Starters in Dream Balls

Turtwig in a Dream Ball and an Apriball

Chespin in an Apriball

Basically, all Training with the exceptions of Eevee, Rockruff and Starters will cease at this point. One Pokemon I'll be WT is Maractus. I'll certainly send out the Hitmons though, but considering that I have done a lot of Wonder Trading over the past seven months without using a Trade Bot is pretty impressive.

Pop Culture in Bramble Clough

Books: The Hunger Games is popular. Other books that exist include the Sorcerer At Sea series and Percy Jackson. Apparently, Generation Beta has no interest in Harry Potter

Video Games: Pokemon is still going strong, along with the rest of the Nintendo franchises. Indie Games are popular as well.

Animation: Retro-style animation is hugely popular, alongside European animation. Anime is still popular, with "Wait, how many Isekai have we parodied?", "Shojo Cavaliers of the Elements" and "Vampires vs Demons" all being popular amongst the students at Springfield Drive.

TV: Streaming is quite popular, and television has received a new boost of popularity thanks to the revival of Saturday Night Television

Many of the Worlds in the main Sim games are a part of one country, SimNation.

The Vincent Skullfinder buried in Sunset Valley is the same character from MySims.

Similarly, Doctor. F. is a respected scientist in the Sims universe.

I would love to start wearing earrings again, but because the earrings I used to get from Primark caused an allergic reaction to the nickel it is becoming harder to find earrings I can wear without having a reaction; the only metal in earrings I don't have a problem with is Sterling Silver. I can't wear gold earrings after I had an allergic reaction to the starter earrings when I got my ears pierced. The other day I discovered titanium earrings. Titanium used to be for men's jewellery when I was a child, but in recent years the metal is being used in women's jewellery.

Ferrets 1-0 TERFs. Former Prime Minister Liz Truss launched a bill to ban Transwomen from female spaces, only for Labour to debate on ferret names (as well as cats and dogs). The thing was, the Bill MPs wanted to debate is the Animal Welfare (Import of Dogs, Cats and Ferrets) Bill, a Bill that tackles illegal smuggling of animals that had been on the cards since 2018 (Along with a Bill banning Puppy and Kitten Mills aka Lucy's Law; Lucy's Law passed in 2022 and was named after a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who was over bred at a Puppy Mill). The second bill was to do with manufacturing and farming. A debate on Multi-Story Car Parks was also on the list. Liz Truss' Bill was poorly-worded and doesn't have as much support from MPs and the general public as the animal and manufacturing bills. In the UK Bills are only passed if there is wide support from Politicians and the public. Also women have women-only spaces already.

The struggle to find Neon Yellow Sequins

I want to start collecting materials for a project I dubbed "The 24 Tributes Sewing Project". For the District 5 Tribute Parade I have wrote down what two sequin colours I want: holographic Silver and Neon Yellow. I have a little Headcanon about a power plant worker, prior to the Dark Days, created a comic book superhero named "Sella Man" in order to promote nuclear safety. Basically the comic got popular in District 5 and The Capitol, so much so that the Prep team for the District 5 Tributes had decided to dress Foxface and her District Partner as characters from the comic. Unfortunately, the two sites (Josy Rose and another UK based site) have gone offline, and the former had a huge amount of Neon Yellow sequins in the size I want. Sequin World (UK based) has Neon Yellow sequins, but there is only two packs left. If I can't find the sequins on an UK based site I might have to look at an US based site instead to find the Neon Yellow sequins. I try and buy my sewing materials local if possible.

The last forty days of Wonder Trade

Now that we are less than forty days until the 3DS and WiiU's Online servers shut down, I have been detailing what I hope to do in those forty days. First up: From midnight tonight UK time I will only train up the following: Starters, Eevee, Rare Balls, Stone Evolution and Rockruff. Anything else that isn't those Pokemon will be released.

Second, the Galar Gym Leaders WT will take place on 3rd March; the Ghosts WT will take place on the 10th and the Paldea Gym Leaders WT will take place either on the 17th or 24th March.

Third, the Paldea Gym Leaders WT will mark a period called "The Clean Up WT Era" in that I will be Wonder Trading to take out the Route 1/First Island Pokemon and releasing them.

Finally, the "Clean Up WT Era" will end on 8th April at 6pm UK time.

Well, that was a plot twist

You know J/K/Rowling's TERF friend Helen/Joyce? Well, she was caught reading a smutty Harry Potter fan fiction on a train involving Draco and Hermione. Yet TERFs and GC scream "TRANSGENDER PEOPLE ARE PERVERTS AND ARE AFTER OUR CHILDREN!". If someone yells about "Protecting kids" it usually means they can't be trusted. Even more hypocritically, the fanfiction in question is called "Mudblood Bitch", with GC and TERFs often complaining about "bitch" being sexist

Fuck Libs of TikTok

A Non-binary student, Nex Benedict, was murdered in the girls' bathroom by three older girls at Owasso High School; Owasso School District in Oklahoma was targeted by Libs of TikTok in 2022. Nex was Cherokee. Two weeks ago, Oklahoma appointed Chaya Raichik, founder of Libs of TikTok, to the state's education board so that the state can ban books that doesn't fit their narrow criteria.
