while the droid didn’t exactly trust char as far as his arms could reach , it wasn’t like they didn’t trust her at all . positively sceptical , maybe , that there wouldn’t be a break in their mutual understanding of both their current situation : stuck on an enemy ship intending to be sold as special cargo . it’s been around three rotations . no hyperdrive , minimal essentials and rations , not really bothering cyan but even they had to admit they were getting bored waiting for a rescue which might not arrive . it’s this reason why they turn once more to char after some idle chat , now trusting to strike up more than a few words . not everyone knew cyan could speak like a human , not often did they spend enough time around someone to warrant it .

“ think i’ve got an escape route in the works . nothing solid , dangerously stupid . it’ll involve taking over this ship . ”

To be sent out to an archeological dig wasn’t that strange Obi-Wan, especially considering his apprenticeship with Qui-Gon was filled with Jedi Archives and missions dealing with artefacts and legends. Obi-Wan was no stranger to a dig site, or mysteries, and while a younger version of Obi-Wan might have been horrified at the thought of being excited at this type of mission, he’s glad that Anakin is able to have this experience.

apprehensive, that’s how they felt. it wasn’t often the archaeologists were able to answer questions, find glamorous artefacts - especially where planet-wide excavations were concerned. this time was special. unique. almost like they had a knack for it. preposterous. ❛ believe me, this isn’t worth missing. completely unexpected, but a fantastic opportunity i’m sure you’ll agree. ❜

eagerly, kai welcomes the duo into the excavation area. it wasn’t large, as standards go, only opening up a few months prior with many more stages to last years. potentially. the size of a small hamlet, partially uncovered ruined walls dot the undulating surface becoming further concaved towards the west boundary. within that space, a wooden box had been found, planned, and now they required specialist eyes to confirm their theories. tentatively, hands reach out to secure the box. surprisingly well held together, it’s dated to be around eight hundred years old. he opens it to show velvet cushioning and an item sat comfortably within it - a jedi holocron. an old holocron. from an area previously thought to just be a farming community. ❛ this belongs to your lot, right ? ❜
