Dairy Whiskey – WIP Intro

hello hello hello lovely people! it’s been a hot minute since i came on here with some wip stuff so here’s dairy whiskey (again). if you’ve been following me for some time now, you must have read my first intro for dairy whiskey (when it was supposed be a novella and the story was very different from what it is rn). if you have, i want to give you all my love for staying on my blog for so long. if you haven’t, here we go with dairy whiskey 2.0 (sorry but i had to call it that).

so, what happened? what’s going on?

well, dairy whiskey was supposed to be a novella (like i’ve already mentioned, please excuse my redundancy) with an intended word count of 30k. i started writing it last year, and well, that didn’t work out, so i started rewriting it as a novel. i took a long break from the draft and paid no attention to it the first four months of 2022 (not ideal but that’s what we have to work with so let’s just ignore my lack of attention span and call it a day). i enrolled for a writing course in may and decided to work on dairy whiskey for the programme. so now, i’ve been actively drafting this baby.

ramble over for now, i promise. let’s quickly get to the specifics. it’s a long, long post so brace yourselves. i suggest getting tea and snacks.

hey there! i've been on writeblr for almost a year now (where did all the time go?). i'd made a writeblr intro back then, but have grown tremendously since and think it's the right time for an updated version that represents me more authentically.

about me

my main wip which is currently, in all its glory, a blank document. this is a literary fiction novel about lost childhood, religious trauma, toxic relationships, and the concepts of purity and sin. even though it's never explicitly stated, this story is set in my hometown so expect a lot of kerala's landscape and culture.

literary fiction novella about identical twins norah and renee. central themes include grief, trauma, and guilt. told in a series of poetic vignettes.

this is a literary fiction novel about clueless boys noah and levi as they try to untangle their complicated lives overnight with each others' help. my first step into gay waters. central themes include survivor's guilt, effects of fame on celebrities, and of course, love. this novel is sisters with @avakrahn's every sun that ever died. wip intro here!

Hello! I’m super excited to share that issue 60.1 “Wonder” of PRISM international has dropped, and you can find my short story “How You’ll Feel After the War” within! This magical little story is part queer love story, part soft fantasy, and part apocalyptic fiction, ft. a godly cat and a city where the sun has stopped setting (and the couple who find a secret place where night still falls).

A literary adult novel set in 1980s San Francisco, following twins Felix and Dorothy as they try to navigate their trauma and identities after escaping the conservative Christian cult they grew up in - and realising they are not the good people they thought they were. Features religious trauma, queer history and lots and lots of water imagery.

A literary/contemporary/??? new adult novel set in 2018 UK, following three autistic housemates - Kristen, Tomas and Junie - trying to survive their final year of University and all the massive life changes out of their control. Features second person POV, some experimental form, flowery prose and my proof that litfic protagonists can be funny <3

Collective title for my short fiction! I like to write about relationships, breaking points, self destruction and impulsive decisions. Highlights include a teenager taking her little sister to the aquarium after killing their father, ace lesbians teaming up against the commune they spend their summers on, sneaking out to visit your brother who faked his death, setting a laundromat on fire to impress a girl and a cat that might be God.
