Bruce's eyes — she finds those and locks her darker gaze within them. There are so many words aching to be spilled, but they hide behind her teeth, not because she is cowardly but because she now understands what it means to hold an explosive and decide not to detonate it. She wants to build this, Bruce, not destroy it.

❛ Secrets have a way of making themselves known. ❜ Perhaps it is solemn to say, but she finds comfort in the truth. She finds comfort in how it simply is. With a soft smile that is as sincere as every other part of her, she brings his hand to her lips to bestow gentle kisses across his knuckles.

Privacy is important to him, and so, it is important to her, too. But no one is saved by denying that the ship is sinking. A blind eye does not keep the water of the sea from filling your lungs.

She does not want to detonate the explosive, but Bruce just might. And so she waits for the decision that is not hers to make, feeling helpless for the first time in her life.

Bruce can see what Lois meant now. It's clear to him that Diana is holding back, not letting her real feelings to come through. He doesn't know if he's part of the problem, or Diana not knowing that much about this world.

His hand gently squeezes hers. "I do like being with you, and I am happy, Diana, but when you're in a relationship with someone – both parties – have to be happy, not just one. You need to speak your mind if something is happening and you don't like it. I won't know unless you say something."

He has a feeling it's about why he wants their relationship to be private. It's not just about the League, it's about how the group will be if they break up, and it's messy. He'd rather no one know for the other fact that his decisions and hers will be questioned when it comes to missions.

They're growing bigger, and with that more personalities are being added to the mix. If his time with his own group has taught him anything, nothing is off the table when it comes to arguments flaring up and insults are being thrown around. The fact that their relationship can be thrown in his face to somehow dismiss or discredit his decision is cumbersome.

Bruce sighed heavily, everything is getting complicated, but Lois' voice rings in his head: 'Don't push her away'.

"I know you didn't tell her, but she suspected we were together and I slipped up and confirmed it for her. I didn't realize I was being obvious when it came to her. It's only a matter of time before Clark realizes something, too."

Without her armor, in these civilian clothes of hers that feel more like a cheaply made costume, Diana feels naked, exposed to the bruising air of the world. And bruise she does, as though her heart is a delicate canvas that paint is continuously spilt upon. A mess this has all become indeed, these secrets that tie her tongue to the roof of her mouth, deterring her from speaking. She's lost in the confusion of it all, her thoughts falling back to him, as Lois speaks. Diana is new to this world, new to this language, and understands very little of what Lois actually says, even less of what she means.

But her face, struck by the devastation of heartbreak, is brought to life by a word she does certainly recognize. Bats. Oh. what had she missed? ❛ --- I do not understand what you are saying, Lois, ❜ she admits softly, and it's the first time she has lied to Lois by something other than omission. Is that what Bruce has made out of her? A liar?

she's new to this world . full of hope , almost blinded by the sun . the world of men was not a pleasant one , lois lane should know . her whole career she's been pitted against them . she likes diana , she's unique . not like any other woman . a wonder . there's this look in her eye already , something that a man has caused . she can tell . luckily , she's just started to date a farmboy , and he treats her well . rich guys have too many skeletons ... look at lex luthor .

For her part, she's dressed to the nines for him, meaning she wears armor and has the lasso glowing at her hip. She even brought the sword and shield, because who knows when a warrior princess might require them?

❛ I believed you might be flattered. That a being of my power sought you out. ❜ She steals his vernacular and makes it her own.

"I'm not in the mood to deal with you." He already had to deal with one specific pantheon of Gods recently. The last thing he needed was to have to deal with a subset of another.

"Don't you have something more important to do? Saving a child perhaps? Maybe the world from some self made cataclysmic event and not bother one of the most powerful beings in all creation?"

Sometimes Diana deflects compliments like she does bullets with her gauntlets. This is not one of those times. She basks in the praise with a smile that's rolled in sunlight. A sliver of dirt lines her neck to beneath her collarbone, but it seems to glisten in the way of something golden. In so many ways, she is golden, too. But war has also left its markings on her skin and deeper than that, bruising the sacred beats of her heart. She collects herself, smile tucked firmly into her cheeks, as she assesses the canvas of the scene, hands on her hips in that mighty display of hers.

❛ It is a great thing, to be recognized by another as skilled as yourself. Though, between you and I, ❜ she begins, a conspiracy in the sparkle of her eyes. ❛ I long for the day when we might not have to be so strong. ❜ War will either end or Diana will die, but she will not stop fighting until it does or she does.

nebula isn't exactly an extrovert — she'd hardly call herself A DELIGHT to be around. the cyborg is well aware that she's rough around the edges, and at times, odd in her mannerisms. that being said...something about the woman in front of her tells her she needn't worry all too much about being misunderstood. something about @shelassos whispers "reflection" to her.

"you are strong. A TRUE WARRIOR — i'm impressed."
