Aaarrrggghhh!!!! Matey!!! It be Orange-Beard the pirate Captain!!! I love this holiday special so much and it’s not just nostalgia. Garfield specials always had a real story. And there’s Ghost Pirates!!
Campfire Tales. This is a rework of a piece I did when I first started to really pursue illustration over 6 years ago. At he time I wasn’t able to really get the “magic of storytelling” aspect to read like I wanted. I’ve been messing with this comp for years to try and hit it but still without success. Finally my growth as an artist reached a point where I could communicate my true intent for this piece. I’m finally happy with it.
The moral is…the person you are may not get it yet, but just keep working on your skills and voice. Keep learning and practicing and give yourself the chance to try out new things.
The Wild Thornberrys. A huge fan of this very worthy show for the 90’s. Nature, adventure, talking animals, family and messaging about poaching and conservation. Of all the shows that deserve a reboot I can’t believe we are missing this one. Oh well. Go watch the original. It’s still awesome.
Jurassic Park Visitors Center. Favorite movie had such awesome Production Design by the amazing Rick Carter. The design of this building immediately set a tone for the entire film and gave a unique personality to the whole island. A perfect centerpiece. I simplified it and added a bit of playfulness in my own style, but I think it still works. What do you think?
Ship’s Nurse. In a circumstance to which the passengers of the Sealark currently find themselves…it is of great fortune to have her along. Utilizing her medical skill will be invaluable in the task of survival ahead of them.
Darth Vader. This is a rework of an older piece. I was never able to get the contrast and the right feel. When I tried a limited color “woodblock” sort of look it finally hit where I’ve wanted it to. Success!
Jurassic Park Vintage Poster. I recently stumbled on this little gem. I made this back in 2014. It was one of the first things I created in Illustrator. It was with this piece that I realized that digital illustration was something that I really enjoyed and wanted to pursue.
I’m doing a little series depicting the iconic sea floor home of Sponge-bob Squarepants, Biki Bottom! I’m starting things off with everyone’s favorite burger joint, the Krusty Krab. Home of the world famous Krabby Patty.
This is a rework of an older piece. I was never happy with the level of refinement and detail in the first version. This one make me mucho much more happy.
A few of the game characters I’ve been working on. So far I have around twenty and still going. The game requires that you travel with a team so characters are a very important part of gameplay as well as story.
She is one of my favorite characters and this iteration is just untouchable. In a recent rewatch it really hit me how screwed up this character became. It’s almost sad if she wasn’t so cool! This one is a compliment to the Penguin I did about a month ago.
