The amount of people who think mothers should not/do not exist outside their role as caretaker is astounding and depressing.
Heaven forbid, we have individual interests. Have fun having an identity crisis like I did when you have to reconcile the fact that motherhood isn’t the end all be all that you were told it would be. That it’s not fulfilling trying to civilize heathens that don’t want any of your attempts to make them functional members of society not matter how much you love your kids. That your only value rests in taking care of everyone around you while ignoring yourself.
There are reasons why things like “Mother’s Little Helper” were popular but nowadays we have actual outlets for personal growth and achievement.
Let’s normalize woman being individuals with interests at any age and any stage of life.
