Nico pouts, hooking his thumbs into Will’s belt loops when he holds onto him. “You know you’re way too nice to me,” he tells him, voice slightly muffled by his face pressed into Will’s shirt. “I thought I would be cooler about this. And it seemed like fun. It was fun.” He wiggles his shoulders a bit in the hopes of making Will smile. “New York City’s changed a lot since I was first there. I’m very old.”
Will laughs and shakes his head, then leans down to place a kiss on Nico’s hair. “Careful, I might just start treating you like my granddad, and I’m not sure you’d want that,” he teases. Then, Will leans back slightly and puts his hands in Nico’s cheeks, holding his face and looking into his eyes with a smile. “But I get it. Honestly. From now on, we’ll just explore one fun thing at a time. Sound good?”

“I have to be a little sorry,” Nico grumbles. “I’m supposed to have my shit together by now. It’s been a long time since I started living here at camp. I should be fully recovered and able to, like, function.” He rests his head on his knees and shuts his eyes, peering up at Will a moment later.
“You think I’m beautiful?” He’s smiling a bit, unable to help himself. He holds onto Will’s hands, and puts his legs down so he can rest his temple against Will’s chest.
“I’m sorry I freaked out on our date,” he mumbles. “I think going to the city was a bit much for me.”
“Everyone heals and recovers at their own pace, Nico. You’re not supposed to have your shit together if it’s not the time for you.” He smiles and lets go of the other’s hands only to wrap his arms around him and pull him close.
“We’ll take it slowly now. I should have realized the city was a bad idea. And honestly – you don’t have to apologise for freaking out. It happens, and it’s okay.” If anything, Will feels bad for not thinking about it before going out with Nico, before suggesting an environment that he should have known might not be the best idea, especially not for two demigods.
