THE SIRENS SONG.
--------------------------
I hear singing o'er the water,
Sirens songs and laughter,
Calling to me, come to me.
Whispers from the ocean,
That set my soul in motion,
Wait for me, please wait for me.
------------------------------
The moon is in the glassy sea,
The sky is red, as red can be,
And beyond the pier my lovers wait.
Hurry, hurry, the Sirens song,
My journeys taking way too long,
And I fear that I will be too late.
------------------------------
And then I'm in their ice cold arms,
Lost forever to their Sirens charms,
Drowning, sinking, weeping.
And all too late I realise,
The love that's in the Sirens eyes,
Is not the love that I was seeking.

ANGELS WINGS.
I have put it off for long enough,
Now it's time to gather up your stuff,
A year has passed since that dreadful day,
When you were sadly called away.
Your room 's become a holy shrine,
A capsule of some other time,
A sad reminder of when you were here,
And this room was filled with mirth and cheer.
I am not trying to erase your being,
It's just that here I keep on seeing,
Your tear-filled eyes, your frowning face,
And I know you want to leave this place.
I have you trapped amongst your things,
Now it's time you grew your angels wings,
These relics keep you bound to me,
Now it's time for me to set you free.

SHE SOLD HER GOLD.
( the price of rings my mother sold )
She pawned her gold to feed us,
To nourish and to heal us,
She went without so we could live,
Until she'd nothing left to to give.
She lost her heart to a lonely man,
Who found the bottle when our lives began,
He was lost and gone before we knew him;
The daemon drink had took and slew him.
Her wedding ring was all her wealth,
And when we were ill, it bought us health,
It bought us food when bad times struck,
And she bought it back, when she had some luck.
But luck was scarce and in short supply,
As every year she struggled by,
We watched her hair turn silver and grey,
We watched her beauty waste away.
The price of rings my mother sold,
Yet her heart was made of solid gold,
And the ring that caused her so much pain;
She will never have to pawn again.

our swansong.
I wasn't going to write today,
I thought that you might want to talk,
I thought you might have things to say,
And maybe we could take a walk.
The air is cold, but its nice and dry,
And there's no one out; we'll be on our own,
And maybe we can figure why,
Why we were not meant to make a home.
Through the trees the breeze is wailing,
And the sky is dull and dark and grey,
Our life, our love, is slowly failing,
And we cannot chase the gloom away.
We hold hands as we walk along,
Kicking fallen leaves aside,
And this is it; our sad swansong,
The love we had, has gone and died.

SILENT IS THE NIGHT.
Silent is the night,
when everyone's asleep,
No one hears my pain,
no one hears me weep.
Everyone's in dreamland,
and no one will ever see,
How lonely is my night,
how I ache to dream with thee.

STAR MAN.
A Star Man came to me last night,
And I asked him what was wrong,
He said we've been listening to the tunes you sing,
And it seems you've changed your song.
I asked him what he meant by that,
And he hung his head and cried,
He said there's too much bloodshed in our world;
Too many innocents have died.
He said we've been watching you from afar,
And your world's a sorry place,
Wars and famine across the land,
Your Earth's a huge disgrace.
He said I bring to you a warning,
For your world will surely die,
Your finger's on the button,
To rain missiles from the sky.
And when it starts it will not stop,
Till there's only misery and death,
And the ones who press the button,
Will do so with no regret.
He said no one will listen,
For they are blinded by their greed,
A few acres here and there,
They say they really need.
He said I could go with him,
To his home in outer space,
But I said I must stay here;
I am needed in this place.
And when the Spaceman left me,
He said I wish you well,
He said I could only save so many,
I could not save the world from hell.

FRIENDS.
----------------------------------
I don't have many friends,
But the ones I have are true,
They are always there to help me,
In everything I do.
They are always there to talk to,
To lend to me an ear,
To listen and to guide me,
And help me overcome my fear.
-----------------------------------
True friendship is a blessing,
And true friends are hard to find,
And when I find a friend who's true,
I return their faith in kind.
And I am here to listen,
To try and help them out,
For true friends and warm and caring,
They're what's life is all about.
------------------------------------
Sometimes when I am struggling,
When I'm in a lonely place,
I call a friend up on my phone,
And my troubles they embrace.
They offer me advice,
And they help me get things straight,
They turn around my crazy thoughts,
And they reinforce my faith.
-----------------------------------
I know my friends are out there,
And I am here for them,
I am here for them to talk to,
And help them if I can.
And when we meet tomorrow,
For coffee at eleven,
We will laugh away our sorrow,
'Neath the sunlight sent from heaven.

LIGHTING CANDLES.
I will light a candle for your sadness,
To try and fill your heart with gladness,
To drive the lonely dark away,
And to try and fill your empty day.
I will light a candle for your worries;
Worries, that fall like snowy flurries,
I pray the flame will melt your snow,
And you can let your worries go.
I will light a candle for your caring,
For all the care you have been sharing,
May the candle flame burn warm and bright,
As you help to put all wrongs to right.
I will light a candle for your loved ones,
For the ill, the hurt, for the unloved ones,
That the candle flame will forever shine,
In their healing hearts, and in mine and thine.
I will light a candle for the lost,
For those poor souls that need it most,
May the candle flame burn bright and true,
Because I'm also lighting it for you.
I will light a candle for the lonesome,
That the flame will help to guide that someone,
And a candle, brightly shone,
Will guide that someone home.
I will light a candle for you and me,
Because lately we've been lost at sea,
We are together, but we're all alone,
And the candle flame can guide us home.

DANCING WITH A LEPRECHAUN.
When you are dancing with a Leprechaun,
The Leprechaun calls the tune,
He will use you as a pawn,
Beneath a blood-red moon.
He will promise you your wildest dreams,
And tell you your the only one,
But beware, all's not as it seems,
And of you he's making fun.
He is charming and beguiling,
He's as slick as oily eels,
He'll bewitch you when he's smiling,
As he dances jigs and reels.
He will fill you up with poteen,
Till you don't know your religion,
He will dress you all in green,
And have you cooing like a pigeon.
And as the moon begins to wane,
The sun rising in the east,
He'll befuddle your poor brain,
For he's a cruel and nasty beast.
You will wake up far from home,
With a sore and aching head,
You'll be cold and all alone,
And far from your nice warm bed.
So never dance with a Leprechaun,
He will trick you and beguil,
He will laugh and call you amadawn,
And at your troubles he will smile.

Distances So Wide.
I died the day you went away,
I broke up all inside,
I felt my world just slip away,
Like the ebbing of the tide.
I prayed that you'd come back someday,
But the distance was too wide,
My life, my love, had gone away,
And I hung my head and cried.
I begged and pleaded with you to stay,
To be my blushing bride,
But you just smiled and turned away,
And my pleading you denied.
And now there's nothing left to say,
I'm all broken up inside,
My life, my love, has flown away,
And the distance is so wide.

HIDING IN MY ROOM.
When I hide myself away from the world,
I go inside my room,
I'm like a frightened little bird,
Hiding from the moon.
I'm afraid of what's going on outside,
And I don't want to be involved,
So inside my room I try to hide,
And pray my worries will dissolve.
Inside my room I'm all alone,
And I'm safe inside these walls,
A sanctuary of wood and stone,
Where no one ever calls.
Inside my room, it is so quiet,
And I feel complete and whole,
In thoughts I drift into the night,
And I listen to my soul.
But I know I must come out some day,
And live among living,
I can't keep myself all locked away,
I can't take without some giving.
But into my room I will return,
And again I will be free,
It's guiding light will forever burn,
Just calling out to me.

SILENT AND SO LETHAL.
In the mighty state of Texas,
Lives a Sasquatch broad and tall,
And he claims to be the champion,
And best farter of them all.
He lives on rancid meat,
And on humans ( quite a few ),
And he boils up all their bones,
To make a stinking pot of stew.
In the frozen Himalayas,
You'll find a Yeti with thick hair,
And before you even see him,
His smell will foul the air.
He lives on birds and vermin,
And other creatures he can trap,
But even humans breath their last,
If too near them he does crap.
Back over to the States,
Where Bigfoot does reside,
And when he lets a fart,
Trees tremble near and wide.
It sounds like roaring thunder,
Like a rocket screaming by,
And squirrels fall from the trees,
And birds drop from the sky.
But none of these are champions,
They're put firmly in their place,
By the Little Irish Leprechaun,
Who leaves them in disgrace.
He is silent and he's deadly,
When he lets a squeaky fart,
With a stench that is so lethal,
It will surely stop your heart.
So he carries the flag for Ireland;
The Champion Farter of the World,
And if you think he can be beaten,
You are truly being absurd.
He's the wearer of the Shamrock,
He's a stinker through and through,
And he laughs when he starts farting,
And he'll stand right next to you.

LIFE IS A CRYSTAL BALL.
From a distance of so many years,
I can see things now I could not then,
I look back now through a veil of tears,
And relive those days all o'er again.
I see them now from a different view;
Their meanings have all changed,
The time we lived in was never true,
Just little fibs we rearranged.
How short the childhood, we never thought,
We could not see that it soon would end,
Schooling, learning and what it brought,
Our dreams escaped, no more pretend.
And now I see where my friends have gone,
And I wonder if we were friends at all,
The days of youth, the days of fun,
The life we lived in a crystal ball.

SUMMER RAIN.
At least we had some time together,
And I'm happy for those days,
They were filled with sunny weather,
Before the skies turned grey.
We had lots of fun and laughter,
And some silly little tears,
But no happy ever after,
Was written in our years.
I'm so thankful for the times we had,
And I know you're proud of what I've done,
But I can't help but feel real sad,
Not to share all this with my special one.
Time moves on, but life stands still,
And you left a hole that can't be filled,
But you also left a force of will,
And a love of life that can't be stilled.
You're always with me; you are always here,
And I know someday we will meet again,
Once again you'll fill my heart with cheer,
And we'll laugh and play in the summer rain.

THIS OLD HEAD OF MINE.
This old head of mine,
Likes to steer me wrong,
It tells me things are weak,
When everything is strong.
It tells me to turn left,
When I know I should go right,
It tells me things are bad,
When everything's alright.
----------------------------------
It whispers in the dark,
When the silence is profound,
It tells me things I've lost,
And forgets the things I've found.
I know I should not listen,
To the voice inside my head,
But it can be so persuasive,
And up the garden path I'm led.
------------------------------------
I know I should be listening,
But my ears refuse to hear,
I hear you knocking on my door,
But i pretend that I'm not there.
I wish that I could open up,
And tell you how I feel,
But everything is false,
And nothings really real.

Thoughts.....
Sometimes the silence,
Is the only answer we get,
And the silence is the voice,
Of the things we so regret.
Sometimes the answer,
Is in the words that are not said;
When the only words we hear,
Are the voices of the dead.
If we only stopped to think,
And accept the end is nigh,
And decide to go on living,
Though our hearts just beg to die.
If we pause for just one moment,
If we ask why we're alone,
It's only when it's too late,
That we want to go back home.
That moment when we know,
We are truly lost to pain,
It's only when it's over,
That we want to start again.
