As we’re in the Hunger Games renaissance and I’ve just completed my rewatch of the series, one detail I’d love to point out at the very end of Mockingjay part 2 is how perfectly the filmmakers capture the early spring lighting in the Pennsylvania/ Appalachian setting. I grew up in eastern Pennsylvania and that lighting we see in the first scene of Katniss hunting upon her return to District 12 and with Peeta’s return to District 12 captures the very beginning of spring so beautifully. It conveys the tentative hope for new beginnings along with the melancholy nostalgia that I have always felt particularly with that time of year. Just a fun detail I wanted to point out.
