I am curious to know what they were thinking when we opened the final gate that lead them to safety. Maybe they sensed our kind hearts at first, which is why they continued on — but the moment they saw the trailer, they turned to run. Probably because a trailer is what brought them to this awful place. It is hard to comfort the lucky ones such as the angels in this video because they can still hear the screams of their friends who were left behind and this keeps them in a terrified state. The livestock auction was brutal, as always, but it was a little bit easier due to the camaraderie that ensued. 13 rescues/sanctuaries from all over came together for this. 39 animals were saved today. 39! Since we had a couple of people questioning why we would put funding into an animal who needs extra special medical care (which is always expensive), instead of putting that money into numerous healthy animals in need of saving … I will keep it simple and say this. Every animal deserves a chance and we specialize in tough cases. Rancho Relaxo doesn’t exist to save millions of animals. Rancho Relaxo exists to alleviate as much suffering as possible and spread awareness through our residents’ stories. We exist to make the world better, ONE animal at a time. Not one thousand animals at a time. Money means nothing and animals have zero concept of it. If you don’t agree with this, don’t donate, unfollow, whatever. But leaving negative comments based solely on your opinions is not the way to go because those comments plant seeds and people hold back from donating — which makes it impossible for us to help any animals in need. If these comments were rooted in facts or real concern about the care of the animals, then yes! Comment away. Speak up. But this is not the case here. People are concerned about spending “too much” money on one animal. Why? What’s too much money? Who sets the limit? Fuck money. I hate it. I hate asking for donations, but I have to in order to continue forward with our mission. I love our supporters. The ones who get what we do and why we do it. That is all. I took a little break from driving to type out this caption. I should be focusing on Luna Jubilee — but here I am, expelling energy to spell out why each animal deserves love and the care they need in any given situation. Friends, have you ever met someone utterly fragile and astoundingly resilient at the same time? Then maybe you’ve met a Monarch butterfly. It takes up to five generations for them to complete their journey of migration. (Can we just stop and think about this metaphoric #truthbomb?) As we (hoomanz) have built our modern society, we’re taking away the places they call home. Now they are going extinct. Standing in one of the last places in which they can shelter, we considered how they, too, are a community. It left us questioning our own definitions of journey, civilization, and beauty in life. Are we so short sighted that we cancel out those who exemplify the answers?
