You are very much allowed your grief. I'm sorry I don't know how to express my support well at the moment (and I don't expect you to expend effort telling me, I only say that to apologise for my clumsiness), but I see the pain of the Jewish people I know, and I know it is valid and I wish for you to be better protected from the hate in this world.
My support is for all innocent civilians and my anger and sadness is for all those dead and hurt. I haven't wanted to centre my own feelings, but I also don't want to add to the silence that makes you feel unsafe. The rise of anti-semitism is despicable and you should not have to deal with it.
I hope I have never made you feel unsafe, but I apologise if I have.
There is so much that is overwhelming right now. I hope you can find some peace.
Re: Your addition to that reblog chain on antisemitism, holy fuck. You should NOT have to experience guilt for feeling grief and fear. I’m not Jewish, but I see the ugliness that you describe happening around me on a daily basis. I want to see an end to the death and suffering in Palestine as much as you do. I want to see an end to Jewish death and suffering as much as you do. I don’t know how to fix this, but I don’t want you to feel alone or feel like the Jewish community are the only people who have your back. Many, many non-Jewish people/goyim have your back. I’m so sorry that some of them in your RL circles don’t. It’s shameful.
Thank you for sending this, anon 💙

Google's going down...
Sharing this FASCINATING article on why Google Search is shit now, and who is responsible. Because there are identifiable people. And the man most responsible is Prabhakar Raghavan.
These paragraphs in particular feel darkly humerous as a Tumblrite:
Do you want to know what Prabhakar Raghavan’s old job was? What Prabhakar Raghavan, the new head of Google Search, the guy that has run Google Search into the ground, the guy who is currently destroying search, did before his job at Google?
He was the head of search for Yahoo from 2005 through 2012 — a tumultuous period that cemented its terminal decline, and effectively saw the company bow out of the search market altogether. His responsibilities? Research and development for Yahoo's search and ads products.
And the comments are full of people who have worked with him agreeing that he is to blame and the article is right.
There's something viscerally satisfying about that:
I hate to voice hope, because it will be destroyed, but i really feel like if Google crashes and burns, this may be a bit of a warning sign.
I have heard Tech Bros say that Google will be forever and nothing beats it when I have tried to talk about its problems. It's like they think it's always been there - too big to fail.
But search IS failing. It was in trouble in 2019, and the decisions they made in response to it have made it bad in a way everyone can see now.
I got an email today from Google saying they've updated their ToS. I'm so tired. I want to move off Gmail to Proton Mail, or... something. But even though i have moved mail providers before, it has been a long, long time. And Google encouraged me to store thousands of emails and documents there. I don't have the spoons. But maybe one day...
In the meantime: Start Page exists and gives better results than DuckDuckGo.
There are options for search. It is NOT a monopoly anymore, and I... I want to believe that everyone who jumped onboard the AI train is going to regret it hard when challengers rise up from the outside.
We used to say 'I'll do a search' before we said 'I'll Google it' and we can do again!

Things that work in fiction but not real life
torture getting reliable information out of people
knocking someone out to harmlessly incapacitate them for like an hour
jumping into water from staggering heights and surviving the fall completely intact
calling the police to deescalate a situation
rafting your way off a desert island
correctly profiling total strangers based on vibes
effectively operating every computer by typing and nothing else
ripping an IV out of your arm without consequences
heterosexual cowboy

My fear is that executives will blame this person for not realising they have to change their feedback into something the AI can use... not realising that it can't.
This machine kills AI

To anyone who believes fairy tale romances never happen in real life, may I remind you that JRR and Edith Tolkien met and experienced a forbidden love in their youth, and then were separated for five whole years because of his guardian’s rules that he could not date till he was 21, and she got engaged to someone else only because she assumed he’d forgotten her and lost hope that she could ever be with him, but then on his 21st birthday, he wrote her a letter saying he still loved her and wanted to marry her, she responded basically saying ‘if I’d known you hadn’t left me on the shelf, I would never have said yes to anyone else,’ then a week later she greeted him at the train station and then immediately dumped her fiancé, and they got married and she converted to his religion and danced for him in a flowering field far away from the trenches into which he was drafted, which left such an impression that he crafted an entire story about the most beautiful maiden in the world who danced in the woods and made enormous sacrifices to be with the man she loved, and they had four kids and remained faithful to each other and blissfully grew old together and their gravestones are now marked with the names of that same fictional couple that he created, who broke every rule and overcame every possible obstacle to be together and get a happy ending, who only did all that because he based it all on their own real love story.

it’s so funny if you keep the gith egg in Lae’zel’s inventory the whole time because you eventually get the chance to ask her about it and she’s like all attached and whatnot, and up until this point you can be like “well we can just pretend she’s leaving the egg in camp every day and not literally carrying it around” but then you get dialogue options to suggest to her that she leave it in camp and she’s like “Camp!?!? The place where people get kidnapped and try to fight each other and devils won’t stop showing up? I don’t think so.”
So like there is no way to headcanon your way out of the fact that Lae’zel is literally carrying this egg around every where she goes because she explicitly refuses to leave it alone in camp
