Trigger List /Qualifying ASMR Sounds
An idea of what I'm looking for in an ASMR!
Disclaimer: I know how much work goes into all of these videos. So if your ASMR doesn’t make me tingle it’s not meant to be an insult. It just means its not for me. Like I say in my blog description, I have ADHD and OCD. Because of this I’m super picky with my sensory issues and noises. If a sound messes with my sensory, I can’t do it and I have to turn the ASMR off. There are still millions of other people out there that will like it! :D This blog is just for idiots like me who can’t listen to certain things.
Tool Sounds. When a tool touches the camera, you don't hear a "tap" you hear what the tool is supposed to sound like. AKA - drawing on your face and using a pencil - I look for the pencil noise.
Face Touching. When touching your face, you're able to hear the hands rubbing across something.
Tweezing Sounds. Tweezing sounds thats not just the high pitched empty tweezer. Korean ASMR seems to have mastered this with style. They sound like they are actually grabbing something with their tweezers and I never knew how much I needed it until now.
Scissor Cutting. Cutting with scissors that aren’t cutting air. Once again none of this high pitched fake cutting sounds. If it’s a hair cut RP, the ones that cut fake hair or a dolls hair will call more tingles and less cringe. :)
Correct drawing sounds. If you’re drawing on my face or on my body, I hate hearing the camera tapping sound. It just kills all the would be tingles and I have to turn it off. A simple overlay sound of actual pencil/pen/marker meeting a surface meant for drawing or even drawing on something around the edges of camera will cause more tingles than you know.
Harsh Brush sounds. Brushing the camera or the mics are just to die for. I’ve yet to find an ASMR that was too harsh with their brushing sounds. :D But using different brushes is also amazing. One of my favorite brush sounds are the paint brushes used for home improvement against wood.
Scratching sounds. Harsh scratching sounds directly on the mics are also to die for.
Eyebrow Shaving Tool. Using the eyebrow shaver on a glove or surface and we hear the outcome. Gah. One ASMR-ist got me addicted to this sound and now she can’t make it enough. XD I blame her completely (in a good way). Thankfully other ASMR-ists are starting to use this technique too so I’m able to diversify a bit.
Sand Cutting. Once again gaaah. I can’t get enough of kinetic sand cutting especially when the ASMRist cuts all the way down to the cutting board and you get that satisfying harsh crunch.
Sand Brushing. Another big one. Running tools through the sand with a microphone close is just so so tingly. Especially when you can hear the tool being used grating through the rough sand particles and you get a satisfying crunchy sound.
Eyebrow Grooming. My absolute favorite ASMR theme is eyebrow grooming. I love the spoolie sounds against the eyebrows when it brushes something. I love the shaving tool when it shaves against something. Filling in Eyebrows as well. All of this is super tingly if done right! Also another big trigger in this family is drawing the guides on the eyebrows with a marker and hearing the actual marker against skin noise.
Putting Hair Up in Curlers or Pinning it Back. So a new list of triggers that I’ve found when I discovered Korean ASMR is that tingly sound when they roll your hair up in a curler or pin it back to get it out of your face. I never knew I needed this so much until I was introduced to it and now I’m hooked.
Face measuring. Whether or not there is an actual reason to measure the face, I still love a good face measuring ASMR. Especially when the measuring tape is used and possibly drawing marks/guides on the face. Then add whispering you can’t exactly understand but it helps the one measuring you’re face - tingle fest.
Ear Cleaning. I have one ASMRist that I will listen to every ear cleaning video she has. She is the same one who introduced me to the eyebrow shaving tool and she uses it to shave the ears in your hair. TO. DIE. FOR.
Scalp Treatments. I have a very specific scalp treatment that I can handle. If they are using shampoo, conditioner, and other squishy sounds I can’t do it. But if they are scratching the scalp, using powder and brushing the powder onto the scalp between the hair and parting the hair with a comb .. I’m in.

What I like about this ASMR
All of the sounds are layered and line up nicely
The eye brow grooming is on point. Love the eyebrow shaving.
PENCIL SOUNDS OMG. When she draws the eye liner on your eyes, she layered actual drawing sounds. This was what drew me to her originally. Full body tingle from my neck to my back.
The tweezer sounds actually sound like she’s tweezing something. It’s not just the high pitched “tweeze” sound.
