Bonus goodness: Get on knees, hook toesies under couch or whatever other super low ledge is around, and enjoy bobbing around with no regard to gravity cos your counterbalancing toes gotchu on that. Good for back stretchies.
Hey you! Yeah, you, the one reading this post right now! Get up from where you're sitting right now and go stretch.
Come on, up you get. You'll thank me later. And by later I mean in like 10 mins time.
Go clear some space on your living room or bedroom floor and stretch yourself out.
Contort yourself. Embrace your inner feline and twist your body into inhuman positions as your muscles and bones sing a sigh of relief that they're not all hunched over on a couch or at a computer desk right now.
Reach towards your toesies. Doesn't matter of you can't quite grab em. But reach out to them and let them know you love them. They don't see you very often!
Raise your arms behind your head and feel your shoulders snap crackle and pop. Roll your neck around on all three axes and feel the strain melt away.
Yeah, you really have spent the last decade+ looking downwards pretty much permanently at a device. Your back likes it when you let it rest in literally any other position for a little bit!
Now go on, git! Go do it. Do whatever stretching feels good. Don't worry about looking weird because nobody's watching you. Just indulge yourself. Trust me on this!
- The above message was brought to you by my back, which is sick of my couch-lying, device-hunching bullshit

On the one hand, beautiful, deep quote.
On the other hand, "David Jones" is the name of a department store here in Aus, which makes this unintentionally very hilarious!
Ah yes, to feel the slings and arrows of shoppers moving about inside of you, only there to take what they want, never stopping to see the you, the entity who welcomes them in and tries your best to bring them that which will provide them joy.
The shoppers don't see you, just the products you provide. The fat cats in the head office for sure don't see you, only the profit you make. The workers who keep you moving despite hearing you play the same songs once again, just trying to brace themselves and maintain their sanity until they can get their next pay cheque so they can pay rent this week. It's all just a means to an end.
But you, you want to make people feel welcomed, to feel loved. You want to give them joy and wonder, making them feel like they're in a world of infinite possibilities. You want to spread the holiday spirit and the excitement of finding the perfect present for the one you love.
But at the end of the day, you are just a department store, a cog in the machinery of capitalism which must keep turning. There is no room for feelings in the cold hard world of money. There is no space for artistry, or for customer joy, when they can instead maths the numbers from last quarter to finely twiddle the knobs towards a more optimised experience.
No matter how hard you try, no matter how much you want to feel, all you are is a tool for making money. These deep feelings, these potentials for making people happy that are sacrificed at the alter of capitalism, are a blessing and a curse: a blessing because you can imagine a better way of being, and a curse for knowing that will never come to be.
(PS: Let me be super clear that I am not in any way trying to make anyone feel sympathy towards a corporation. I just found the idea of a physical department store having deep emotions a fun idea to play with. Capitalism is evil and y'all should join your union.)
“It’s both a blessing and a curse to feel everything so very deeply.”
— David Jones

Ok mates, an addendum to my last post (I can't reblog my own post for context when my post is still in the queue). Do I get back into Life SMP over the end of year break? Cos I feel like I need to know what's happening from looking at my dash but also that's a big commitment, especially as I haven't seen the last one yet let alone the current one. But also, my old blorbos!
Dang it, why couldn't the series keep coming out on Wednesdays so I could keep following it live? (Ok Tuesdays for most of the world, but Wednesday evenings is when it used to be available for me to watch down here!)
