Saw someone say Halsin is like a more mature romance than Astarion because he doesn't need to be fixed. Which firstly as fun as the jokes are I don't think that's fair to what the Astarion romance really is. Tav is not Astarion's therapist, and Astarion can be just as supportive of them in their struggles.

But secondly Halsin definitely needs so much therapy! He just hides it better than some of the others. People who are actually well adjusted and mentally healthy don't end up traveling with Tav. They're all so full of trauma it's ridiculous. Dude doesn't even have a parasite! He just wants to be there.

Halsin has immense guilt about the shadow curse and its consequences AND everything else he neglected at the grove in single-minded pursuit of it. He spent like three years as a sex slave apparently and probably hasn't fully processed any of that. This man is not okay! He's just quieter about it and like marginally more functional. Just because he has a good job and hobbies doesn't mean he isn't fucked up underneath all that.
