It’s maddening tbh. I’m generally over all of this stuff, royal watching, the drama, etc., but to see the utter hypocrisy right now…it still fucking sucks. I wish Meghan was seen as fully human even a little bit. I honestly do not understand how people in this fandom, the media, the public can say the shit they say to defend Kate and William without immediately being struck by lightening for their lies and hypocrisy.

Crisis talks for two irrelevant royals and an irrelevant royal reporter.
The BRF is in their flop era. All because they refuse to address racism. It’s actually comical.
And people think the BRF are the victims here. That is what is insane.
In 10-20 years this whole sordid drama will be seen as a stain on the history of the BRF.

I just can’t get over the fact that people are more mad about someone being accused of making a racist or insensitive remark than that the incident actually happened.
Reminder: NO ONE has denied a damn thing thus far. And we KNOW KP is 💯 willing to deny shit and same with BP. Hell, they are happy to lie even.
So if that continues you have to assume they can’t deny it because they know the press has corroborating material.
Y’all want someone, be it Omid, Harry or Meghan, to be punished for reporting someone made a racist comment instead of, I don’t know, investigating what the fuck happened. That doesn’t clue yall in to how diabolical this all is?
We can accuse the royal family of aiding and abetting a pedophile (multiple times over) but racism is a bridge too far?
People have lost the plot.

I have Spotify premium and I found out yesterday that the Endgame audiobook is free there so I’ve been listening since last night and so far it’s pretty good and despite what the British media would have you believe this isn’t a book about Harry and Meghan. I’m 5 hours to this 14 hour audiobook and Harry and Meghan have been mentioned a few times but they are just background characters up to this point especially Meghan.
No shade to Harry but I’m kind of enjoying Endgame a lot more than Spare which I really struggled to get through at times but to be fair Spare followed the documentary which I also struggled with and had criticisms of so maybe I just don’t like the way Harry and Meghan tell their story.
I didn’t start this post to talk about any of that, what I really wanted to talk about is the phrase unconscious bias and how much I hate it and how mad I am at Harry for constantly using it to water down his family’s racism. In Endgame and in some of his interviews Omid Scobie continuously uses the term particularly when speaking about the concern about the baby’s skin color and Meghan’s experience within the family because he has to keep saying that Harry and Meghan never said it was racist which is true but it’s so frustrating because of course that shit was and is racist af.
Anyway, I’m annoyed with Harry and I don’t get why he and Meghan are wasting their time trying to have a relationship with that man when I’m listening to Omid talk about how worried he was about Prince Andrew’s mental health when the Jeffrey Epstein stuff was happening and how much of a soft spot he has for Andrew and so far there’s no such care or concern for Harry or his children, and If it’s true that Charles was one of the two people talking about Archie’s skin color and Harry and Meghan have maintained a relationship with him and even tried to establish one with him and their children then I don’t know why they even brought it up because it makes them look bad since we know Charles hasn’t even apologized because he doesn’t think he did anything wrong.

I think people need to understand that when someone says the situation in Israel/Palestine is complicated they are not necessarily saying that the discussion of who the oppressor vs oppressed is complicated. The Israeli government has been oppressing the Palestinians for a very long time, that is clear, and it is not complicated to understand that at least since the 80s they have had dramatically more financial and military power to keep control of the territory in the way they like.
However, it is reductive and dismissive to insist that there is no complexity in the potential ways to move forward to bring peace to the region. Despite what people on tumblr.edu like to believe, "Israel should never have been created" is not a practical solution to an incredibly heated geopolitical situation in the present day. Israel was created and it does exist. 10 million people live there. 74% of the population is native born and the country has existed for 75 years. Hand waving these fact away with the opinion that "they should move back to where they came from" may make you feel good about being a Radical Leftist, but it does not give anyone a road map for how exactly millions of people without dual citizenship are supposed to just up and evaporate. Nor does it acknowledge the reality that 21% of Israelis are Arabs, the very people you are claiming to want to give the land back to.
Insisting that there's nothing complicated about expecting an entire country's population to willingly dissappear with no consequences is not a productive way to think about this conflict. It ignores the many massive superpowers that have an interest in proping up different states in the region, the power dynamics involved in any land back movements, and the inevitably negative consequences of totally dissolving an established state without a plan. It is also completely and almost comically unrealistic, so much so that it makes it hard to believe that anyone who's opinion starts and ends with this idea really gives a shit about anyone who lives in the area as much as they care about their online leftist clout.
There's nothing complicated in understanding that the Israeli government is and has been maintaining an oppressive apartheid state for decades. It is, however, very complicated to come up with a realistic way to resolve some of the most intricately entangled land disputes on the planet without plunging the region into total chaos. Not everyone has to be deeply educated on every geopolitical situation, but it is very hard to take people seriously when they know nothing about the politics or history of a region and yet insist that there is nothing complicated about it at all.
There's a lot of people on this website who are getting dangerously smug about their own ignorance, and are starting to go down Qanon type anti-intellectual paths in the name of being sufficiently radical. Not knowing the details of a very convoluted land dispute isn't something to brag about online as you call for intentionally reductive solutions. You can support the Palestinian cause and be aware of the oppression they have faced while also holding off on calling people trying to do real analysis and de-escalation work bootlickers. We need to get control of the urge to fit every global issue into a simplistic YA novel narrative structure that appeals to Western revolutionary fantasies.

Low key I’m kind of happy that documentary wasn’t nominated because I didn’t like it that much to begin with so I don’t want to hear about it anymore I’m ready to move on. I’ve been thinking about this for a little while but maybe I’m just ready to move on from Meghan and Harry 🤔

To your previous post: I agree that people have short memories but also that the past 6-10 months have been a struggle bus for the Sussex fans who just want happy fluff content. But I also think that people forget that the last thing the media wants is for Harry or Meghan to be happy or be seen as happy. That’s not what pays their bills lol. And while Harry and Meghan play themselves and dilute their base a little bit by playing into these traps, I do also think people have to remember that the Ms. awards were supposed to be the start of a new era for Meghan. And the pap situation, imo, was a bit of a play by the press to ensure that that era doesn’t come( no Diana conspiracy just they wanted photos of her looking unhappy and went way left in their pursuit). Because I still stand by the fact Meghan (and Harry to an extent) could be heavy hitters if she just… moved on. And I do think she is trying but doesn’t know how when she gets sucked back in sometimes by things outside her control. I hope the next 6-12 months is a lot happier and future focused. I think invictus will be a restart for them both. And they BETTER get those photos and video clips beamed everywhere. PR needs to be PR-Ing lol
Yup. Big agree.
Although I still think the pap situation was a mix of both the media being assholes and also frankly the over the top reaction from Harry and Meghan. They were frightened, fair enough. That is why you hire comms people who can be cool heads and navigate those sorts of situations without completely eclipsing the whole reason for night in the first place.
I certainly hope we get good stuff from IG! Both because the competitors deserve to not have their excellence overshadowed by media antics and Harry and Meghan’s need to react and because I’m ~exhausted~ and just want to enjoy my faves doing cool stuff for a great cause. The Heart of Invictus should also be out soon so hopefully we again see Harry in his best light, too, with promo.
But they shouldn’t have to rely on IG for a reset or whatever. At this point the media environment is what it is and what it has been. That they haven’t fully adapted to it is a red flag. I mean they even had industry outlets going after them on Spotify. Something has to give.
