In case you've been wondering what I've been up to, here's a little bit of exciting news...
Netflix Announces Live Action Sweary Sweary She-Ra
Entertainment - Embargoed until 1st April
Netflix has announced a live action series based on mildly popular webcomic Sweary She-Ra. The new series, Sweary Sweary She-Ra, will be a more foul-mouthed take on the original.
Commissioning editor for Netflix UK & Ireland, Fiona-Orla O'Leary, said "We really enjoyed reading Sweary She-Ra, but felt that they didn't say the f-word anywhere near enough. Honestly, it really ruined the atmosphere for me, and we're going to put that right, one fuck at a time."
Although a full cast and crew has not been announced at this time, the webcomic's writer, Alice Hancock, will serve as head writer for the project. Co-writer Entrapta will star as an actress who plays Entrapta.
Netflix CEO, Ted Sarandos, told of his enthusiasm for the new series: "At Netflix, we have a long and proud history of championing writers and new programming. Sweary Sweary She-Ra will bring a popular series onto our screens at last, and we look forward to not promoting the show and cancelling it before the first episode has been broadcast."
Well would you look at that, here's another She-Ra Uncut video about everyone's favourite character!
Starring the ever wonderful @tippytoezombie and @truckeecheeze among others (including, scarily, me)
The kids on TikTok think that just because he was a classic country singer, Johnny Cash was conservative??? My babies he covered a Nine Inch Nails song in his seventies.
Classic country singers (the majority of which came from poor roots) were always talking about how much The Man sucked because they were taking money from poor rural folk. You’re gonna tell me that’s conservative?? Get outta here.
One of the most popular requests I got was for Sweary Owl House and this is me giving it a try. I'm committing to doing a pilot episode in order to gauge reaction, popularity, whether it works, etc.
I will preface it all by saying that I don't know The Owl House as well as I know SPOP (but I have watched all the episodes, so I know that much). I lose nothing by trying!
Once this episode is done, I'll probably do one of three things:
Call it there and not do any more
Carry on and do the whole thing
Carry on, but only doing some episodes and skipping others
I weep for its beauty, and because it is the end. Even though I know Alice is far from finished in putting out great stuff, I feel like something wonderful has left this world.
Here, Adora isn’t just speaking to her friends. She’s speaking to all of us. Everyone living in places where the powers that be are trying to take our rights, to drive us out, and even to take our lives.Â
But we have love. We have pride. And we’re going to win in the end.
That would make an excellent line in a song, that.
The good folks over on the Uncut cast & crew (thanks Nickie for the idea!) thought doing some character Q&As might be a fun idea.
So... if you could ask the Sweary She-Ra characters anything, what would you ask? It can be general questions to pose to them all, questions for particular characters or... whatever you fancy.
Pop them in the replies, in my ask box or over on the discord, and we'll try and get some answers for you!
It probably hasn't escaped your notice that we've been very slow when it comes to making Uncut videos, and it hasn't escaped ours either. There's numerous reasons for it, but largely it comes down to the fact that we have lives and haven't been able to dedicate much time to working on it - just for myself, I work 5 days a week, I spend 7 or 8 hours on making posts for this blog plus I have various scripts to write for deadlines. All of that has taken priority over videos.
What we've decided is to turn our focus to shorter videos and sketches. Obviously, these will mostly be SPOP/Sweary She-Ra stuff, but we're also open to doing other fandoms if the mood takes us. The down side to this means that we're no longer going to make the full episodes (I'm sorry, it is just more time than we can give), but the positive is that we're freeing ourselves to make more of the other moments on this blog.
So, this is where the question comes in - what Sweary She-Ra scenes would you like us to create in video format? Pop them in the replies, in an ask, on the discord... we'll try and do the ones we can!
