"What do these children do without storybooks?" Naftali asked.
And Reb Zebulun replied: "They have to make do. Storybooks aren't bread. You can live without them."
"I couldn't live without them." Naftali said.

At the start of a meeting today, the customer asked how my day was going and I said, "Oh, you know. The horrors persist but so do I." And now they think I'm the funniest person on earth, so thanks to Tumblr for my sense of humor, I guess.
(Grade 6 and up) All our favorite fantastical felines are back, along with some new friends, in this sweet series exploring the lives of yokai cats. Some, like Ningyo, are easy to satisfy: this mermaid-like creature enjoys water, fish, and spending time with its human friends (and the turtle that lives in its favorite pond). Rokurokubi usually just wants attention, and it will use its very stretchy neck to get it. Then there's Kage Onna, who just wants to be petted...even though this cat is a shadow and has no physical body.
Others, like Azuki-Arai, have more complicated needs: this yokai cat wants to wash beans (only azuki beans), and if you ever wash the basket it uses for this task, it will make a feline face of disgust. Obariyon always wants a piggyback ride, which isn't the most comfortable thing in summertime. (Also, this cat doesn't like the sound of AC, so its human ends up soaking his feet in hot weather to stay cool.) Fans of this series will enjoy the continuing adventures of these unique cats and their human companions. (4 out of 5 stars)

"I knew she was trouble the second she walked into my 24-hour deli, laundromat, and detective agency, and after dropping a load of unmentionables in one of the heavy-duty machines (a mistake that would soon turn deadly) she turned to me, asking for two things: find her missing husband and make her a salami on rye with spicy mustard, breaking into tears when I told her I couldn't help—I was fresh out of salami."
"Black Girl You Are Atlas" by Renée Watson, with fine art by Ekua Holmes
(Grade 6 and up) As a novelist, Renée Watson has connected with a generation of young readers. Now, in a series of poems inspired by her life so far, the author reflects on the meaning of her name, family history, growing up, and the power of joy and sisterhood. She explores the highlights of different birthdays: one year, she was on a train, traveling across the country. Years later, she was ready to grow up, eager and anxious all at once to move on to the next milestone. Paired with incredible collage art by Ekua Holmes, this poetry collection encourages Black girls to celebrate themselves in all their complexity. (4.5 out of 5 stars)

Big silly lizard and his fluffy moth wife. I have not drawn these two together in awhile so I decided to change that. And yes I changed Mothra’s design and I like it for the most part.
