That Anon needs to take a nap, lmao. "Gold-Star Lesbians" and "Platinum Gays" have a history of bigotry and exclusionism within their own communities.
Personally I'm most amused by the hypocrites who support bisexuality but are of the opinion that if you're homosexual and have been with the other sex you're not a "real" homosexual, you're bisexual or other.
That people are now trying to push for those to be considered actual sexuality identities is just... Mind-blowing.
I agree, but I really don't want to start any drama.
However, I feel like with any community, there's always going to be some exclusionism and I really, really, appreciate your points. Also, I like how you pointed out the hypocrites who say they support bisexuality but then turn around and make it seem like it's a bad thing to be bi if you've been with the opposite sex.
And calling someone not a "real" homosexual because they've dated the opposite sex is so weird to me. It's like people don't consider the fact that compulsory heterosexuality exists and it affects so many queer people in the worst ways. Like I have a friend and she told me that when she was younger her parents made sure to tell her to marry a man in the future. Years later she got into a relationship with some guy and she really wasn't happy because she wasn't attracted to him at all. Later on she came out as lesbian but her being with a man in the past doesn't make her any less of a lesbian because she isn't even attracted to men in the first place. She just thought she was.
The same friend of mine also has been shamed by other lesbians/wlw in the community for not being a "gold star" like they were. It's hurtful on so many levels because my friend didn't know she had other options besides men because that's what her family and society conditioned her into believing.
Anyway, thanks so much for the ask and I totally agree with your perspective.

Nico: Why do you hate Percy so much?
Hades: Because he’s a whore. Like father like son
Percy: Wow “like father like son” huh? Its crazy that you say that bc—
Nico: Percy don’t—
Percy: Nico’s way into petplay so you may wanna reevaluate that statement unless…oh Hades I thought that doggie bed in the corner was for Cerberus but…if I look around will I find a collar with your name on it?
Persephone: This is why he’s my favorite.

Female homosexuality isn’t “biphobic” you creep
Sorry if my answer to the last ask was a little confusing. I was referring to how the definition of a gold star lesbian makes it seem like dating men has made you "dirty" or "unclean." This feels biphobic (to me at least, feel free to disagree) because bisexual women are attracted to both women and men and other genders too, so by putting "gold star lesbians" on a pedestal is invalidating other women who have had sex with men/are attracted to them but are still attracted to women.
On another note, I also want to explain why the term "gold star" affects lesbians too. Not all of us have had our sexuality figured out yet and there's plenty of lesbians out there who have thought men were really the only option so of course they went for them until they discovered themselves and their attraction later in life. I know this might have nothing to do with bisexuality, but it's still worth mentioning when it comes to toxicity in the LGBTQ+ community.

Are you a Gold Star lesbian? (Just in case you don't know what it means, a Gold Star lesbian is a lesbian that has never had the sex with a guy and would never have any intentions of ever doing so)
Actually yes, but I don't want to take pride in being a Gold Star lesbian because I feel it makes other lesbians (and wlw/nblw in general) feel invalid to some degree, if that makes sense. Also it feels really biphobic. Thank you for the ask, though!!!
