On Edge
By Simple Fiction
We've come a long way now
And we need to notice
When you left this town
People started talking
It doesn't get me down
But I feel the smoking rising
I'm just a little bit on edge
Just a little bit unhinged
Since you started going out
And nobody could have seen this
But I guess I caught feelings
That I never had
Walking home, it's too late
You ring me up to compensate
And maybe when you drink so much
It don't feel so out of touch, yeah
It doesn't get me down
'Cause I feel the smoke rising, you know
I'm just a little bit on edge
Just a little bit unhinged
Since you started going out
And nobody could have seen this
But I guess I caught feelings
That I never had
Oh, you feel the weight of my lungs
Show it's not a test of my trust
I can feel it all
I can feel it all
And I can feel it all
I can feel
I can feel it all
I can feel it all
And I can feel it all
I can feel
I'm just a little bit on edge
Just a little bit unhinged
Since you started going out
And nobody could have seen this
But I guess I caught feelings
That I never had, you know

You name.
The moment your name comes to mind,
My heard restarts,
I can feel it beating again.
Because you have been so far from touch,
I can't quite imagine you being that close again,
My mind clears and I can’t think of anything else.
My chest tightens and I hold my breath,
A smile brightens my face and I look to the ground,
Overwhelmed with emotion I feel I could cry.
A sense of peace washes over me,
Music we've shared played in my head,
And I laugh at inside jokes we share.
The comedown though is painful,
I want to hug you, I want to feel safe in your arms,
I want to call each other by our last names.
Now I'm nearly crying,
I want you close,
Even if it's just to be friends.

Losing love
Losing love
It's hard to compute
It's even harder when it was never yours,
And even harder when it becomes someone else.
You push it away because you are scared,
Then you grapple for it after realising what you have done
But you can never quite grab ahold of it again
And just like that it's gone forever.
The after thought,
The realisation,
The regret of what you have done,
It always hits when it's too late.
And now after losing love,
I ache for what is lost,
I ache for what never was,
And it's gone forever.

Being alone
Being alone is being surrounded by a room of things but not being able to settle within them.
These things may have made you feel complete or at ease once, so you there hoping they will again.
But in truth, both you and they have changed shape so you no longer fit the same jigsaw anymore.
Or maybe you do but are no longer conjoined pieces that fit seamlessly.
Sometimes you can be alone but still keep one thing with you through it all.
That piece may hold on to you all it has, as you do to it because you both know you have lost everything thing else.
Either way, you always have yourself and the freedom to shake the loose pieces you don’t need to keep and find me ones that fill those spaces.
There is happiness. Happiness in knowing that you can go and find the new piece that fits the new you, the changed you.
Often you will find pieces that are changing themselves and you can change with them.
The beauty of being alone is knowing it's not forever but a temporary thing that you can control.
Love change
Love the refreash
Love the new
Love being alone

I followed the sound of the water, as soon as I saw it I slipped off my shoes and ran down the river bank until my feet hit the shallow water. The cold water made me feel alive. I closed my eyes and for just a moment I could hear everything. I could hear Joshua's heightened heartbeat, I could hear all the birds in the trees, the sound of children further down the river playing, the sound of the light breeze sifting through the leaves of the trees. I could smell the earth and the water it was so overwhelming I could feel myself getting dizzy.

I loved watching him write normally. The way he pondered on his word choice, writing them down softly. But the way he was writing now was harsh, urgent, as if the words would escape him if he didn’t write quick enough.
I didn’t want to disturb him, and I don’t think he had noticed my presence in the room.
The early morning light cast a glamour over him, his hair lighter showing its messiness. The specks of floating dust looking like glitter or pixie dust in his presence. The way the birds sang as if it was a song only for him. The wound of the pencil scratching against the paper filled the room, a sound I loved to hear. The slight incoherent mumble that escaped his lips brought me comfort in a peculiar way, as if those unheard words were only for me to hear, only for me to know about yet even I didn’t know what they were.

Lights shine brighter in darkness
Birds fly higher in the wind
I sing the songs that no one will sing
Because the all words burn and sting
Time slows down when the night draws near
The sun shines brighter when you are here
I listen to the beautiful bird song
Because they too want to belong

My brain: New story idea!! Must write now!
Me: okay… what’s the plot..?
My brain: Hmm, plot? No, no, no, none of that here, my good friend, my good sir, my good ma’am, but may I offer you an overall general Vibe, an aesthetic if you will, a vague feeling to convey, a-

There is a guy in my college class who is the epitome of indie casual fashion, I have never seen him look bad even when he wears an odd combination of clothing. How is that fair? And then there is the epitome of preppy blonde who is always in heels and mini skirts, who looks amazing al the time, who’s hair and makeup is perfect even when messy. Her best friends is the good looking guy, who is really friendly and obviously goes gym. Then there is me sitting at the back like a loner wearing my ‘I’m not anti-social, I’m selectively social’ t-shirt, writing my Wattpad book and going through Pinterest and tumblr instead of doing my coursework. Why am I like this?

Bucky: Hey Sam, I wrote a poem for you.
Bucky: Roses are red, violets are blue. I was here first, and I’m better than you. You can never replace me, try as you might. If you have a problem, it’s you that I’ll bite.
Sam: …
Bucky: What? Don’t have a comeback?
Sam: STEEEVE-
