Some of y'all still want to make what's happening in Afghanistan an excuse to justify your Islamophobia. How do you not understand that it's literally Muslims they're killing, beating, shooting and murdering in cold blood, families are being torn apart, people's basic human rights are being taken away from them. The Talibans do not represent Islam. It's the Muslims in Afghanistan who are suffering the most right now.

The cool thing about art (and writing, in particular) is that it doesn't have to make sense to anyone but you. As you long as you love it, it's beautiful. And as long as it's beautiful, other people will love it, too.

My favorite thing to do in my writing is add short, seemingly-random descriptors in the middle of an otherwise ordinary paragraph. Sometimes I'll even pop them in the middle of dialogue! Like, Character A will be talking about the weather with Character B (this is just an example, of course—meaningless dialogue has no place in any kind of writing), and will internally note the eyelash that has fallen on the curve of B's cheek. Or the strand of hair that's slipped out of their ponytail. Or their chipped nail polish when they go to shake hands.
Occasionally this can read a little sloppy, but, if skillfully done, really has the power to set the scene and make it more realistic and appealing. That's why so much of the writing advice you see mentions the importance of observation; it is by taking note of our surroundings that we come to picture in our mind's eye the little things about a character or setting, and are able to translate such imaginings in our writing.

In the darkness, I see you
And I reach for your hand
But you pull back
As if you don't recognize me—
As if, in the darkness
You don't know me
Like I will always know you

but oh,
there is a bit of sweetness
in loving you in vain;
just as I wake up at dawn,
and want to dream
again

we were like daisies
our stems stubbornly defied
the pull of gravity, and
our petals held us together
like glue
we were invincible—
or so we thought.
for now my petals are drooping
my stem is the flimsiest thing
and i am stuck in a vase
longing for a glimpse
of your face

before i met you,
the concept of love
had yet to be discovered
by my aching heart
but then i did.
meet you, that is.
smeared across the surface
of an imperfect sunset,
there you were, your
blue-greens burning with
an intensity so strong
i was nearly blinded.
i wondered if
you saw in me what
i had seen in you;
just a person with an
empty heart
that needed to be
filled
so you see,
it was in that moment
that our lives took a turn
the way that life always does
when you meet someone
worth living for

Our love is like a candle's flame
It rattles and it shakes
It's so delicate that a single breath
Can cause both hearts to break.
Our love is like a bird that soars,
It flourishes in the sky,
Yet when one of its wings get broken
It can no longer fly.
Our love, our sweet love,
Is also very deadly,
For if we fall too hard we mix
Into a very ugly medley.
Do you see it now?
How can we love each other,
When all we do is wreck one another?

what i love about being a writer is how eternal the craft is. no matter how long it's been since you actually worked on your wip, you're still a writer. it's in the way your subconscious looks at nature and sees metaphors, in the way your mind predicts a plot twist and sees it coming, in the way your notes app is filled with single lines of poetry that you never went back to, in the way you always have a notebook with you even if it's empty, in the way that you pick up pieces of history and twist them into stories in your mind without even realising it, in the constant daydreaming about a fantasy world you'll never actually write.
being a writer isn't just about writing, it's a state of mind. and i think that's really beautiful.

I am drowning
Drowning in a bottomless pool
My last breaths form bubbles
That rise to its surface
You are there
You
Just
Stare.

Parting is such
Sweet sorrow, or so
They say—
But being with you
Hurts in a much
Different way.
