“She walks forward with courage and determination, moving through the winds that rush by as she makes her way through The Guiding Woods. Although the path ahead is uncertain, she has learned to become sure of one thing: Herself.”
Courage is the second piece in my trilogy, The Guiding Woods. The Guiding Woods is a metaphorical representation of my experience over the last couple years and how I feel navigating life. It is my own imaginative world that connects us to the natural, magical, and spiritual. 🍃💚
Conceptually, if the first piece (Guidance) is about gearing up to head into the unknown, the uncharted, the dark (and potentially scary) forest, then Courage is about actually facing and navigating the dark (and potentially scary) forest, the unknown journey that is Life.

Continuing with my series inspired by The Seven Endless from Neil Gaiman’s Sandman comics (now also a TV show and audiobook series, all of which I recommend.)
This piece is inspired by Destiny of the Seven Endless and my interpretation of the character. I envision Destiny walking along the path of fate in his gardens, created with each step from the pages of his Book. 📖
This piece is a pencil drawing with digital painting ✏️🎨

A couple years ago, I began drawing a series of work inspired by The Seven Endless from Neil Gaiman’s Sandman and my interpretation of the characters. I originally wanted to release them all at once, but instead, before too much time passes by, I’ll begin with the end! 💀
This piece is especially inspired by my favorite Death quote: “When the first living thing existed, I was there, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job will be finished. I’ll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights, and lock the universe behind me when I leave.”

Rosethorn Acolyte 🌹 ⚔️ My interpretation of the Magic: The Gathering card. A Druid elf nurtures her rose garden in the ruins of a battlefield.
I had such a fun time with this portfolio piece, which I created during a SmArt School mentorship with Scott Fischer and Greg Manchess. 🙂
I’d love to illustrate more work for fantasy RPGs & card games!

Here is the cover illustration I made for “Children of Dr. Moreau” by Jared Battaglia, a YA biopunk science fiction story from the world of H.G. Wells.
Described by the author as "on the mature side of Young Adult fiction with a PG-13 feel... [Children of Dr. Moreau is] a gritty and grounded reimagining of the HG Wells classic where this time the young human-animal hybrids take center stage."

The cover illustration I made for The Omega by G. A. Finocchiaro (available on Amazon, B&N, etc).
This book focuses on the fractured and twisted past of Jacinda, Tony's fiancé, and what the impact of these fractures might be for her present and future and the fate of the world. As usual, there are more than a few surprises along the way. At the end of the trail of breadcrumbs, we might end up with more questions than answers...

"Guidance" is a personal work about learning to listen to my intuition and my inner guides as I carve my own path into the unknown while remembering where I came from and reconnecting with my roots. This is something I believe most of us cab relate to in one way or another. And if you pick up on any Snow White vibes too, I don't mind! :)
(As a side note about remembering where I came from: The nature and animals in this piece can all be found in upstate NY, where I grew up! All things I remember and love about growing up in those beautiful hills and valleys. Except when the bears would dig through the trash.) 🐻

The cover illustration I made for The Raptor by G. A. Finocchiaro (available on Amazon, B&N, etc). It is a YA supernatural love story that is dark, with a glimmer of hope!
Here is the author’s marketing description:
The world went mad when Tony lost Jacinda. She was the love of his life, an enigmatic musician he thought he knew everything about-but her dark secrets left him with more questions than answers.
Unraveling the past with his therapist opened cracks inside his wounded heart and mind, unleashing a night full of terrors. Were they real? Was his mind finally coming undone?
The Thirteen, a collective of mythological gods, are hunting Tony. Led by a vicious stranger named Malus, the Thirteen are on the cusp of fulfilling a mysterious plan when Tony falls into their malicious crosshairs. To survive, Tony must dig through his own secrets to unlock the truth, which includes a return to the site of his worst nightmares: Grace Falls, Pennsylvania, where Tony met and lost Jacinda.
But Tony's not alone-the five voices in his head are there to guide him.
