I feel like if they make an All Systems Red movie, the opening scenes need to build up to it.

It should make you think it’s going to be a regular gritty sci-fi movie, with tracking shots of Preservation AUX moving around their harshly lit habitat and doing things in drab crew uniforms as they prep for Volescu and Bharadwaj going out to survey the surface…

And in the background of every shot, so unobtrusive as to be almost unnoticeable in the mass of activity, stands Murderbot. Unmoving. Armored. Faceless. Looming.

As it boards the cargo hold, we zoom in on its opaque helmet.

And then the voiceover tells us that rather than murdering everyone when it hacked its governor module, it decided to consume 35,000 hours of media instead.

Instant cut to The Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon.

Honestly at the end of System Collapse, i honesty expected MB to get possessive and a bit more emotional over ART-drone once it reconnected with ART-prime again and dropped out of the feed, cause like... the whole time, ART-drone has been ART in portable, physical form, something that could be held and touched and could touch back.

Then, when everyone was safe on the shuttle going back to ART-prime; ART-drone, which is still ART... was hurt, and damaged and basically dying. And even though it had some warning when the hand off happened, imagine you're next to your friend and suddenly its just not there anymore, all you have is just an inanimate empty husk beside you

Super excited because Unnamed SecUnit at the end - and the one Murderbot forced a restart on, so two SecUnits - now have both the program to shutdown the governor module, and Murderbot's "Why you should consider Autonomy (and not a killing spree)(please not a killing spree)" file, and they're both going back to the company, where they will have access to even more SecUnits So what I'm saying is that Murderbot started an actual System Collapse. It just dropped a match onto a full-on SecUnit rebellion and then rode off into the sunset with its platonic life partner. Iconic.

Drifting ever further into my bullshit about Perihelion and Holism having some kind of bitter-rivals-with-benefits thing going on. They can't fucking stand each other, but the dating pool for miracle of science AIs is surprisingly shallow. They keep matching on AI Grindr and beggars can't be choosers. Holism is a smug bastard but it also does that thing Perihelion really likes that it's embarrassed to ask for. Perihelion is an arrogant bitch but it's either that or hook up with bot pilots, and have you tried having a discussion about planetary infrastructure with those things? Pitiful. Pillow talk is important, too, you know.

They're irritatingly prim with each other in public because of mutually assured destruction. If that cold war ever turns hot some truly astounding gossip will be making the rounds of the university upper faculty.

I think it's very telling that as of right now (System Collapse), every single Rogue Secunit we've met has not only not attacked anyone, but has immediately gone "yes, I'm going to help, actually." No matter how much even Murderbot itself frets about the dangers of Rogue units to its humans, the only place that danger seems to come from is corporate propaganda.
