as someone who spent my entire youth defending her like i was getting paid for it, i think that long time fans are just so accustomed to her being absolutely crucified for the stupidest shit that it’s hard to face valid criticism now

like people tore her to shreds for acting surprised to win awards and having friends in 2013… and it was that level of torture in response to her doing Literally Anything

so you can imagine why it’s honestly kind of catching swifties off guard to go from that for 10 years to “she’s a billionaire that dates violent racists and stays silent about genocide”
