“You look beautiful…” Gabriel to Jane
If this was any other man, Jane would’ve scoffed. Her hair was still damp and sticking to her back from the shower she just took, her face was completely bare and even a little red from her skincare routine, and it wasn’t even like she was in some cute pair of pajamas. She hadn’t been anticipated the night going the way it had, plus it wasn’t like she could exactly pack an overnight bag without her parents getting suspicious. So, she probably looked even tinier than usual with one of his t-shirts absolutely swallowing her.
Surely, this look wasn’t anything to be excited over, but Gabriel’s expression had her blushing. It suddenly felt like a sauna in his room. Maybe he was just like every other guy and she was an idiot, but that didn’t feel like that was the case. She felt so empowered under his gaze - like she was sexy, beautiful, intimidating, endearing all at once - which was all so very new to her. She knew he was being sincere and that lit a whole new fire beneath her skin.
And the fact that this was how he responded when she asked what he was thinking in the given moment? Jane was positive if she swooned any harder she’d collapse. “I think you’re beautiful.” She countered, climbing into his bed like it was the most natural thing in the world. She tucked herself underneath the covers, giggling as he immediately pulled her to him.
Jane relaxed almost instantly, wrapping her arms around him as her head settled against his chest. It was like this was a routine of theirs for years, even if it was their first official night together like this. “And no one, literally no one,” She murmured against his kiss, pressing a kiss to the hollow of his throat, “Has ever made me feel as seen or heard as much as you.” Jane blushed. “I feel beautiful every single day thanks to you, baby. Thank you.”

"I don't think I've ever seen you this happy..." Imogen to Killian
There was no way in hell Killian wouldn’t be back home this weekend. He had no idea what he’d be in store for, but Ambrose had asked him to come, said it was important, and that was all he needed to hop on a plane. He was glad it went without saying that Imogen would be joining him, because, damn, he couldn’t even be upset at the side of him she was now seeing. Her observation was accurate - he couldn’t remember the last time he smiled this much.
Of all the things he was expecting - most negative, considering his cousin’s odd behavior lately - he hadn’t been thinking he’d be meeting his goddaughter for the first time. Hell, he didn’t even know he had one until laying eyes on her! Ambrose somehow managed to surprise the entire family, but Killian couldn’t even stay annoyed for long. Not when Callie was literally the sweetest, most adorable baby he’d ever seen. He wasn’t looking forward to his time in London coming to an end, but he couldn’t wait to see his best friend and his little niece all the time.
“I’m really happy for Ambrose.” Killian murmured, careful not to disturb the baby in his arms. Ambrose was taking a nap now that he had an abundance of people ready to give him a hand and, naturally, Killian was swift to help. Plus, he was coming into town. He wasn’t the one with prior arrangements unlike several others. “Most of my family wants children and he’s no exception. Even if she was unexpected, I know he’s thrilled to have her.”
He would be lying if he said being with Imogen back in Hungary, with them babysitting his very new niece, didn’t have him feeling a lot of things at once. Things that he knew Ambrose would inevitably call him out on later. Killian kept his focus on the baby in his arms, because if he looked at his fake wife it would be all the easier to keep envisioning what their kid could look like. “And she’s pretty stinking cute, no?” He continued, his grin deepening. He couldn’t resist the urge to boop her little button nose. “I’m glad you came with me to meet her…even if we didn’t know that’s what we were doing.”

"How do I look? Like I'm dumb as hell and filthy rich?" Imogen to Killian (lunch with the wives lolol)
“You look…” Killian began, already sighing wistfully at the sight of her. He had to give her another once over and that was hardly enough. Imogen really was the most beautiful woman he’d ever laid eyes on. “I don’t think there’s an appropriate comparison.” He mused, shaking his head. If they were actually a couple, if he could excessively dote on her in private, there was far more he would say. He didn’t need to make things weird, though.
He figured his staring wasn’t exactly helping his case, so he made himself busy by grabbing her jacket off their bed and so he could drape it over her shoulders. It completed the look. “To answer your question, though, you look filthy rich, yes. Dumb as hell? Not really.” He chuckled, giving her temple a tap. “Unfortunately, I’m biased, but it doesn’t even matter. These people are genuinely stupid, so it’s not like they’ll see through your act.”
God, if she didn’t have to be at this damn lunch he already would’ve had her out of this outfit. He couldn’t put his finger on it, but it wasn’t the “rich” aesthetic that was doing it for him. There was something more mature about her look than he was used to. It was like she was dressed like a wealthy wife, but he was more focused on the latter aspect. She looked like after grabbing lunch with the other women, she’d grab their kids from daycare and coordinate some family activity for the evening. Or maybe he was just projecting a daydream of the future onto her. He didn’t know and, fuck, he had to snap out of it.
Killian pressed a kiss to her shoulder, even if her skin was now covered. “I might make you feel dumb as hell when you get back…” He murmured, giving her waist a little squeeze before stepping away. He had to or he wouldn’t be able to take his hands off her. He would definitely be thinking about her until she returned. “Have a good lunch, Im.”

"I love you, Andy..." Maeve to Andy
Oh god, Andy wasn’t going to cry right now. He didn’t want to ruin this moment by crying, even if they were happy tears! What guy got as emotional as often as he did? And, when it came to Maeve, he was always kind of emotional. She was everything to him and it was more than he was used to. She left him overwhelmed in the best way possible.
Maybe a few weeks ago, he would’ve been insecure and would’ve questioned her, but he didn’t need to now. He could feel his girlfriend’s love. Still, though, it was one thing to have an assumed comfort versus hearing things out loud. Andy thought it was pretty evident that he was in love with Maeve, but he’d still yet to say it himself. While she usually left him an idiot, he wasn’t going to be an even bigger one than he was used to.
He crossed the distance between them to kiss her hard on the lips. He could genuinely stay there forever in her arms if someone let him. “I love you.” Andy whispered, trying not to choke on his tears. “I love you so, so much Maeve. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
He rested his head against her shoulder when he was done, his fingers sinking into her hips. Andy never wanted to forget what it felt like to quite literally lean on her for support. He would never not be in love with her, he feared. “I am yours.” He murmured, smiling into the kiss he pressed onto her shoulder blade. “And I always will be.”

“I know how we can relax later…” Imogen to Killian
In retrospect, Imogen and Killian didn’t need to go grocery shopping together. Instacart was always an option, so were separate trips. They were both competent enough to follow each other’s lists, which they did throughout the week. On Sundays, though, much like real married couples, they did one big haul together and killed at least an hour aimlessly walking around the store grabbing things they needed and, often times impulsively, wanted.
As far as Killian was concerned, this was a casual date and it was one he looked forward to weekly. He liked planning their meals - who would cook what, when - and he enjoyed how they were starting to prepare more of them together. Honestly, he even liked bickering with her over which brand they should go with over certain items (even though he usually conceded to her). Everything felt natural and he had to remind himself how she literally wasn’t his wife. She was his business partner.
Who could blame him for forgetting? Especially when Imogen stopped them right in front of the health and beauty section. There was a bag of Dr. Teal’s lavender epsom salt in one hand, its matching bubble bath in the other, and a suggestive expression on her face. She knew exactly what she was doing. “You are a visionary.” He mused, nodding to himself, grabbing both items from her and dropping them into their cart.
“I hope by later you mean once all these groceries are put away.” Killian nodded to their haul. It wasn’t crazy, but they definitely had work cut out for them. “Because I’m going to be the opposite of relaxed until then, unfortunately.” He said solemnly, cracking a grin. They didn’t have much left on their list and thank fuck for that.

"Did you eat my candy... I thought I had more than this..." Imogen to Killian (pregnant, on the verge of tears lolol)
As much as Killian wanted to retort that no, he wouldn’t have eaten the candy he waited over an hour in line for, that he knew how much she craved them and wasn’t an idiot, he just frowned. His pregnant girlfriend was upset; this was a very real thing for her to be upset over. That response wasn’t going to help either of them in the slightest. He didn’t think pointing out that she had gone through more than she realized was the best approach either.
“I didn’t think I took much, but I should’ve asked. I’m sorry.” He admitted, even if it was a lie. In the grander scheme of things, this was literally harmless. He was actively trying to keep Imogen’s mood from worsening. It was kind of the least he could do for the next couple of months.
Imogen’s lip was still wobbling, which had him cursing under his breath. “What if I went right now to grab you more? And I can order some knockoffs to be delivered in the meantime?” He offered, hoping that was a valid solution. Besides, while he wanted to comfort her, he wouldn’t mind stepping away from the war zone that was her emotions lately. He knew it was irrational, because it was just her hormones, but he hated seeing her any bit distressed. That was why he was ready to wait another hour or more for some candy if necessary.
“Text me what you want, alright? I’ll be back as soon as I can.” Killian promised, crossing the room so he could kiss her. He never left her without doing. And, even if she was a little upset with up, she kissed him back promptly, giving him a small thanks. “And I might as well grab dinner on my way back. Start thinking of what you want, please.”

"You're both still wearing your rings... as if the family doesn't know it's a job." Ambrose to Killian (yes he's grinnin)
“How long have you wanted to point this out?” Killian countered, raising an eyebrow. It was late, he was tired; they’d been drinking a little. He didn’t have the mental or physical strength to try and starting a pointless argument with his cousin. Ambrose was right. He’d been wearing his ring since he arrived - why wouldn’t he when he only ever removed it for water - and the family knew the true nature of his relationship to Imogen.
He leaned back into the patio chair, taking another swig of his beer. While he was acutely aware of his conscious decision not to take it off, he hadn’t been focusing on his partner’s hands. Had Imogen really been wearing it the whole time too? He couldn’t see her now, but he’d make a point to check her ring finger before bed. The thought that she continued to wear it, too, though…it definitely made his heart skip a beat for reasons he wasn’t sure of.
Killian toyed with the gold band absentmindedly, a soft smile on his face. “I can’t answer for her, but it’s easier to keep it on for me. Forces me to never break character.” He was definitely joking there, but that was up to Ambrose to notice. If he didn’t, though, he wouldn’t be wrong either. There was definitely some truth to what he was saying.
His cousin was giving him such an expectant look, he couldn’t help but laugh. “Whatever you’ve assumed, you probably already convinced yourself you’re right and that you won’t listen to me if I don’t tell you what you wanted to hear.” Killian mused, daring Ambrose to say he was wrong. “And while you could be wrong on so many levels, you’re probably right about whatever you assume about us. I like wearing this ring.”
Killian picked the beer he settled between his legs and finished it off like it was as good as water and he was dehydrated. “And I like her.” He admitted, finally saying the words to anyone outside of London for the first time. “I like her a lot. That’s why she’s on this break with me and why I want her meeting everyone. You have no idea how much I want her, Ambrose. She is all I think about now, it’s pretty pathetic. ”

"My mother died when I was fifteen and my father ran off when I was a kid... there was no where else I could go so I moved in with Issak..." Imogen to Killian
Killian listened to Imogen with full attention, not once interruption her even though he almost did involuntarily a time or two. He was pissed, she could tell, but this moment wasn’t about him. So instead of accidentally making it about him, he focused on the little pattern his thumb was brushing into her palm. He didn’t focus on, however, how natural it felt to keep pressing his lips to the back of her shoulder, absentmindedly kissing her every few minutes.
He recognized it was now his time to talk, but he couldn’t find the words immediately. He would tell anyone who asked that he was strictly on a job, but he knew that wasn’t the case anymore. Imogen was far more than just a business partner to him. Killian wouldn’t dare think of the ‘L’ word. Anyone who could see him react right now would know, though, that this response came straight from his heart.
“I’m so sorry that was your reality.” Killian murmured, his frown deepening. Imogen couldn’t see it, but she could surely hear it. It felt like second nature to tell her that she was his family now, that by extension she was a Hadik, but he stayed silent. Not only did that realization freak him out, but he was sure it would only do the same to Immy. “They failed you. Not your mom - I wish I could’ve met her…but your father and brother?” He scoffed. Neither man deserved the title, the tie to Imogen.
“Do you need more money?” Killian asked suddenly, raising an eyebrow. “Not that I won’t take care of you…but the last thing I want is your brother causing you more problems.” He explained “You are never going to be at his mercy again. And if he shows up, I might actually kill him, so really there is nothing to worry about.”

“Fancy running into you here…” Ambrose to Bianca (ya know in the apartment complex they both live in 🤣)
This couldn’t be happening. Bianca had been trying to motivate herself to go to the gym for quite some time now, but it wasn’t until tonight that she showed up. She quite literally waited until it was nearing midnight so the chances of her sharing her complex’s tiny gym with anyone else was slim to none. She wouldn’t have let company deter her fork working out, she just preceded solitude.
And, of course, one person had to be there. Not just anyone, either. Her insanely attractive, super mysterious, infuriatingly charming neighbor. Bianca could’ve died on the spot. This wasn’t fair. She recognized she had a crush on him - she wasn’t delusional - but how was she supposed to recover from seeing him covered in sweat, his muscles out on display. Part of her was thrilled that she chose a cute little set (she specifically ordered it to motivate her to hit the gym), however…she kind of felt naked in it?
If it was possible to muster an annoyed expression through a blushing face, she surely attempted to. “It’s almost like we live in the same building.” It was such an effort to keep her voice even, but she managed. He would not have the satisfaction of getting her any more flustered.
Bianca settled her yoga mat down across from where Ambrose was with his weights, forcing herself to maintain eye contact as she sat herself and began her stretches. “Looks like you’ve been here for a hot second.” She mused. That was a good way to segway into checking him out again, because there was no way he didn’t see her doing so. “Damn. If I knew there was a chance of running into you here, maybe I would’ve forced myself down here sooner.”

"I was in the neighborhood... just thought I'd pop by and see how you're doing." Ambrose to Killian (still cheeky)
Killian didn’t even have it in him to pretend to be annoyed by Ambrose’s nonchalance, or the fact he casually picked the lock to his house. One moment he was at the end of the room and, in the next, he was by the door and he was crushing his cousin in a hug. It went without saying how much he missed him. Ambrose was closer to him than all his brothers combined; he was his best friend. Even as mission forward members of the family, it wasn’t often they were this far apart or so long.
“You bastard!” Killian laughed, giving him another squeeze before releasing him. He felt like he was dreaming. He should’ve known better, though, when Ambrose was being a smug and sneaky little shit the last FaceTime they had two nights ago. “Did you have a free weekend? What the fuck are you doing here?”
His next moves were purely out of excited instinct. “Imogen!” He called up the stairs, his voice clearly eager. Killian knew she just got home not too long ago and hoped she hadn’t hopped into a shower yet. Not that it would matter, of course, but his two favorite people were actually under one roof and he was thrilled. “Ambrose just showed up! Come downstairs!” He glanced back, making sure his cousin was still there, then added, “Please?”
Then his attention was back on Ambrose, who smirked and nodded towards the upstairs. The raise of his eyebrow asked what the fuck that was. Killian would deny the fact that he blushed, but the other man would definitely call him out. “What? Better I tell her before she comes down to the intruder in our house. She could’ve ran into you first, you idiot.”

"Jesus Christ! Don't fucking do that, you're gonna send me into labor..." Imogen to Killian
When it came to his family, Killian didn’t mind freaking them out. If anything, he actively sought out opportunities for him to freak them out. He was a quiet man, in many ways than one, and he used it to his advantage. If he wanted to creep up on someone undetected, he knew how to, and his success rate spoke for itself. However, he was naturally so quiet and unassuming in his day to day, that sometimes he’d sneak up on someone without necessarily intending to. That was more often than not the situation with Imogen.
Sometimes, he enjoyed messing with her. Other times, especially now, he wasn’t trying to scare her. He just wasn’t trying to draw attention to himself. He clearly caught Imogen in a moment - she was showing, finally - and approached her while she was admiring her reflection. He didn’t want to startle her, but sue him for forgetting where and when this was, and taking his time to appreciate every new curve and detail of her body. It had to have been a few minutes before she eventually noticed him, jumping and swearing when she did.
Killian immediately blanched. “I-fuck…sorry.” He had promised her he would stop it, but this was clearly a habit he wasn’t conscious of. He was a practical man, yet he lost all practicality when it came to Imogen and their child. Her words actually found a way to make him a little rattled. “Maybe I do need to wear a bell…” He conceded, his gaze still on her.
He crossed the distance between them, making sure she was watching him as he did so. He wasn’t going to scare her again. Killian met her eyes through the mirror, then wrapped his arms around her from behind. He kissed the top of her head. “You’re so beautiful, I forget where I am sometimes.”

"My brother is an asshole, but he's no one you need to worry about... he's got no idea where I am right now." Imogen to Killian
“Okay, I won’t worry.” Killian nodded agreeably. He wasn’t just saying it to say it, either. He wasn’t going to worry regardless. He was a very practical person - Imogen said he was far and clueless. He sounded like a Neanderthal, honestly, and Killian knew he would now be tipped off if the man was close. The Hadiks were always two steps ahead.
He knew why Imogen gave him that little addendum. He wouldn’t worry, but he wasn’t particular thrilled. In fact, it was clear his partner was picking up on his tells as quickly as he was hers. Killian was pissed listening to her detail her backstory. When she arched an eyebrow, he held up his hands. “Seriously, I won’t worry. We’re on a job; seeking him out or letting him distract me isn’t something I would let compromise our work.” He vowed, then frowned. He was nothing if not honest. “Even if I’d like it to.”
Killian chewed on the inside of his cheek. Imogen was still looking at him like she knew he had more to say, which he did. He couldn’t even scowl at her right now. “I can’t promise, however, that I won’t act if that changes. If he shows up…” He chuckled, but the sound was cold. He probably didn’t need to say anything; his expression said it all. “Well, let’s just say there’s nothing I’d let compromise our work. And I’d enjoy however I’d prevent that from happening.”
They were both clearly still riled up, so he just pulled up UberEats and started to put together an order for dinner wordlessly. Imogen mentioned Thai early, which was what he pulled up. Good food would clearly help lighten the mood. When he was done, he offered her his phone and smiled at her fragment of one. “I’m sorry he’s a jackass. You never deserved that.” Killian mused, clearing his throat. “Say the word, though, Immy, and no one will ever worry about that Fuck again.”

“That was quite the speech…” Maeve to Andy
Andy had gone back and forth between sharing his speech with Maeve before graduation. It wasn’t like it was a secret - it was a surprise - but he was so used to sharing everything with her. Besides, public speaking wasn’t his forte (as he thought was pretty damn clear by his shaking voice), and he wouldn’t have minded his girlfriend’s reassurance. She gave him confidence unlike anything or anyone else.
At the end of the day, though, he was happy with his decision to let her hear it the rest of the crowd for the first time. Andy made sure she was okay with him mentioning her, but he didn’t give her any other context beyond that. His speech was appropriate, of course, but he couldn’t not dedicate part of it to Maeve, which had coincidentally been part of his final words.
So much of the future is unknown, which is as exciting as it is scary. And while I don’t know exactly what mine will look like, I know it’ll be spent alongside my amazing girlfriend. I would’ve been up here today regardless, but Maeve is the reason I’m only stuttering and not crying. Believe it or not, I love her more than numbers, and I’m so proud of her. Thanks for supporting me, baby.
“I hope I didn’t put you too much on the-“ Maeve wouldn’t even let him finish his sentence before her were on his. He grinned back into the kiss, already knowing that question was rhetorical. He saw her face when he finished his speech. Hell, she had been his focal point for 90% of it, and he found a way to maintain eye contact during her paragraph.
Andy held his girlfriend close to him. This was a happy moment and he wasn’t going to bring up the break they were about to be on in order to get to that future he spoke of. “Well, where to now? It’s officially summer and I’m all yours.”

“When you see Marc, give him this for me…” Jessica to Zane (and probs punches him in the arm 🤣)
Zane didn’t care if he had a head on Jessica and at least 40 pounds on her. He would be the first one to admit that his wife had power in her tiny frame and could pack a punch when she wanted. “Oww!” He whined, rubbing his forearm, giving her a bewildered look. Whatever happened to hello? “Why do I feel like that wasn’t for Marcus, but for me? Which, then begs the question, what did I do?” He demanded.
It wasn’t like Jess couldn’t be serious. After all, the three of them all had experience being the middle men when it came to certain disputes. However, he knew her, which meant he knew that if she wanted to give her twin a whack, she didn’t need an excuse. She would do the job herself. Then again, maybe she already had, and was doubling down on his punishment. It wouldn’t be the first time one of the twins had manipulated him like that. He gave her a suspicious look, lowering his eyes.
“I’m a lover, not a fighter, Jess.” Said the man who got a timeout at his last game for swinging. He wasn’t special - he was just a hockey player. That definitely warranted the eyeroll she gave him. “Okay, okay, what did he do? You know, this time?”
He’d see Marcus a little later in the day at practice, so he was sure he’d get his friends’ side of the story. Not that Jessica wouldn’t readily give it to him. Well, maybe she would’ve, but after he added smugly, “C’mon Jess, we’re supposed to be a team.” He wasn’t sure he was gonna get anything beyond another eyeroll and maybe a middle finger.

"Tell me something I don't know... something that isn't in the file I got." Imogen to Killian
Killian pursed his lips, trying to think of something that wasn’t in the file. After all, he put it together. No one else, aside from Ambrose maybe, knew what was essential information or would even get it correct if they tried. He had been thorough, he thought, without being overly pedantic. Then again, had he really given her a lot?
Given Imogen’s tone, she wasn’t looking for something incriminating. She wanted something fun. He definitely didn’t have many of those sort of details in there, but then again, he wasn’t the most fun person in his eyes. He also hates talking about himself. “Uh…” He scratched the back of his neck, then offered, “I’m a really good dancer?”
If he wasn’t proud of his talent, he probably would’ve blushed. Instead, he just shrugged slightly as if to say it wasn’t a big deal. “My mom grew up learning ballroom and competed a fair amount before she met my dad. She had no daughters to teach like I think she always imagined, but I liked spending time with her and making her happy. Plus, I wasn’t half bad as a kid.” He continued, smiling slightly. “I also did some theatre in secondary school. It was a nice break from all the advanced science courses I was taking.”
He knew the next time they were in a position where dancing was an opportunity, she would take it if only to see his so called skills, which didn’t bother him. He was starting to recognize the little nuances in her expressions. “I know, I know.” Killian chucked. “Not what you were expecting from your husband, huh?”

"I didn't realize you were paying such close attention..." Imogen to Killian
Now that Killian knew that Imogen was alright, he could actually will a small smile back to her. She was safe, she was tucked in under their covers for the evening, and he could finally relax. Not only had he administered her Epipen but he’d called his older brother, the family’s doctor, to confirm she’d be fine. Elias’ assurances coupled with the color returning to her face was enough to keep him from worrying further.
“Yeah, well…” He shrugged, trying to keep his voice casual. Nothing about his actions had been, though. He wasn’t sure how conscious she’d been when he’d ran out of their neighbor’s house and down the street to theirs. How he absolutely berated the host for this oversight on their end. “It’s kinda my job. Imagine how things would look tonight if I was caught by surprise…well, more surprised than I already was.” Killian wasn’t going to berate her tonight for her pen being at home. That was pointless, nor would it make him feel better.
“I called ahead to warn them of your allergy…so part of me wonders if this was deliberate.” Killian mused, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. “Our poor neighbors looked mortified, though, so I’m sure we can use this situation to our advantage. After all, the man owes me for nearly killing my wife.” Was that a little dramatic? Sure. Did he care? Not particularly. His whole facade was a doting husband who worshipped the ground Imogen walked on. How wouldn’t this help the bit?
Imogen’s expression was one he couldn’t quite place. It was like she was reevaluating him - she was certainly looking at him differently. Killian, already feeling pretty vulnerable, needed to get out of there. “Okay. I think I’m gonna go shower - did a bunch of running today.” He said sheepishly, ready to leave. “And you should probably get some sleep. I’ll join you after.”
He grabbed his phone off her nightstand, then made his way to his side to grab the rest of his things. He had to pass her again to get to the bathroom and, when he did, Killian noticed she was still watching him thoughtfully. He didn’t know what came over him as he made his way back to her side. He brushed some hair from her face, letting his hand linger on her cheek for a moment as he bent down to kiss her forehead. “Never scare me like that again, alright?” He murmured.

"It's been over five years, Anika! You have my number... I couldn't even get a text?" Paris to Anika
Anika lowered her gaze in shame, unable to meet Paris’ eyes. Now was not the time to get defensive, not when she was asking so much of him. Besides, it wasn’t like he was wrong. She had her reasons, of course, but they clearly didn’t matter after everything. He had every right to be upset with her. Besides, the feisty girl he once knew was long gone. Fighting him would drain her more than she already was, she was so tired.
“I’m so sorry.” She whispered, shaking her head. He would never know just how much she regretted her actions and could make different decisions. Even if she had been a terrified 18 year old, even if she had been so hurt by the breakup, she now knew that she could’ve saved herself so much pain and grief if she had just done what he literally said and texted him. She knew Paris better than anyone she’d ever met and she knew he’d never abandon Jay, nor would he leave her without support. He was quite literally proving that right now.
“You’re right. And I hope one day you can forgive me, Paris…I hope Jay can too.” Anika swallowed hard, blinking back tears. Now wasn’t the time for self pity, but she wanted him at the very least to know how sorry she was. “I was a coward. That’s the only excuse I have. It seems obvious in hindsight, but it never felt that simple.”
She wiped away at her tears, wanting her eyes to be clearer when she met his. “I wasn’t trying to spite you for the breakup, though. I was just trying to do what was right, even if I did everything wrong.” Anika took another deep breath. “That doesn’t justify my actions, though. I just wanted you to know…I never wanted to hurt you, and I know I did, and I’m genuinely so, so sorry.”
