don't use "ftm" it's outdated and offensive. it implies that the trans person was their agab, which we never were. i was always a boy, never a girl who became a boy.
i'm 35 years old. i've been IDing as trans or something similar to trans for nearly 20 years. i was probably calling myself FTM while you were playing tag during recess, anon.
i WAS a girl. i IDed as a girl early in my life. i recognized myself as a girl, called myself a girl, lived as a girl, and was a girl. who then IDed as a man. hence, F t M.
spend more time worrying about yourself instead of strangers on the internet, anon.
sorry not sorry if this comes off as needlessly hostile, but i've been getting a lot of shit from a lot of teenage trans kids about the language i use to describe my own goddamn experience, and i'm growing real fuckin weary of it.
i have elder trans friends who call themselves transsexuals and transvestites and trannies. are you going to seriously go to a 60-year-old trans person who survived the reagan years and tell her she's not allowed to use certain language to describe herself because it might offend the delicate sensibilities of some teenager on the internet?
do yourself a favor and log off, find some real-life trans people who are over the age of 20 or 25, and spend time talking to them instead of getting all holier-than-thou at random strangers on tumblr.

Will you read this? Eh, perhaps. You're a busy man with quite a lot of asks. But there is a very human part of me that wants to say my piece because I owe you quite a bit of thanks. And I shall express this thanks with a story of my first words.
When I was 2, approaching 3, years old my parents were worried I'd never speak. The child therapist we went to - quite an old bat if you ask me, considering the stories I've heard, but what do I know I was 2 - had told them to ever give up hope of hearing my voice.
On the way back from the appointment, my Godmother - the driver of the car used to take me to the doctor - stopped by a small bookshop and took me inside so my mother could weep appropriately out of line of her child. We went inside and she told me to look around for a book for myself. She knew I loved books - wasn't sure if I was reading them or not, but knew that I at least liked looking at them and wanted to keep me occupied.
I apparently stumbled around for a while, grabbed one small book off the shelf and plopped my little arse right down and started flipping through. About fifteen minutes go by - and my mother has thoroughly cried herself dry - and my Godmother comes up to me and scoops me up with the book.
I - being the obstinate two year old that I am - refuse to let go of said book and it's only about 50 American cents so she simply buys me the book.
For the next few weeks I only carry around the book. I do not touch any of my other toys or stuffed animals, only the very small picture book. I sleep with it under my pillow, carry it around happily, flip through it every so often.
And then one unassuming day, at the dinner table - with a set of non-prepared parents - boldly yelled out my first words ever: Blueberry Girl.
Now, I'm sure you've figured out at this point of the story that the book my little self was holding was none other than your boo Blueberry Girl - and this is where my thanks comes. I have spent the last sixteen or so years since first acquiring it repeating the words to myself, asking Ladies of Light and Ladies of Darkness and Ladies of Never-You-Mind to watch over me if they could spare moments of their time. I repeat them whenever I have a difficult test, and even in the few moments right before my graduation speech of high school.
So thank you for the words that touched my little soul and stuck with me till now.
You are so very, very welcome.

What are we holding onto, Sam? That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for.

I’ve probably said it before as I’ve been following you here for a long while now- but thank you for writing The Graveyard Book.
It not only instilled a deep love for spookiness in me and my childhood- but it helped me to find the power to get away from a bad man named Jack (so to speak) and find family elsewhere later in life. I found myself elsewhere, too!
I’m also now going by the surname Owens, and I hope you don’t mind!
I'm proud of you in all ways.

you guys know you can get USB connectable CD, dvd, and blu-ray players right. and you can buy external hard drives with crazy amounts of space for an amount of money that would make the average person from 2009’s head explode bc of how cheap it is. and if you do this and get ripping software such as handbrake for CDs and DVDs and makeMKV for blurays you can both own a physical copy of whatever media you want and make it accessible to yourself no matter where you are. do you guys know this

I've seen this before, but it's been years and it just came across my Twitter in its dying days. The words are from a favorite author of mine, Maggie Stiefvater, and they are the words I most need to hear when it comes to dealing with chronic pain and illness. I didn't need this the first time I saw it, six years ago. I need it now. Maybe you do, too.

Just another night casually thinking about nothing much. and by nothing much, I mean good omens and by good omens, I mean thinking about how Crowley said "We could have been us." as in past tense. it was already too late. but he tries anyway and gives it all he's got which isn't much (considering that in this moment he is literally losing his entire world) and then he sorta of just waits there.
Tumblr media
(cause yeah we all know Crowley is an optimist) waiting there all sad and vulnerable waiting for Aziraphale to respond and what he gets is forgiveness. just a cold "I forgive you" like, I feel it wouldn't have been far off if Aziraphale had slapped him or spat in his face cause it gives the same energy. 😭and oh yeah just to emphasize that optimist thing, even after all that he still waits by his car.
but something that makes that whole scene so much more painful is that there is no way that they don't know they love each other. I think they both already know this. Crowley doesn't confess his love to Aziraphale, and he doesn't tell him he loves him. he points out what they already have. they're a team and they always have been but they've just been pretending for the majority of their lives that they're not. it's always been the group of the two of them. Crowley explains to him that maybe they don't have to do that anymore. If Beelzebub and Gabriel don't have to pretend then neither do we. we can finally just. be. an. us. and that all that he would like to do is to spend the rest of eternity with Aziraphale. where they can be just that. But Aziraphale isn't ready. he's still pretending.

Hero: You could be a hero too, you know.
Villain: With my extensive criminal record? I'd be executed. Lesser criminals than I have been put on death row.
Hero: I... well... that's fair.
Villain: You did not think this through at all, did you?
Hero: I kinda forgot you've committed mass murder.
Villain: You were literally there to witness it!

Prompt #83
"Stop pacing," the villain said.
"I'm anxious," the hero replied. Snapped, even.
They walked, turned, walked, turned. It was driving the villain insane.
"Stop. Pacing."
"Make me," the hero challenged. "Or, better yet, leave. No one is asking you to stay--"
The villain's hands caught onto the hero's waist and held it. They pulled the other closer without warning, reeling them in steadily until their chest was pressed tightly to their enemy's back - the hero now caught firmly within their arms.
And the silence that followed was beautiful...

This is really good news! I look forward to seeing the details and voting on it soon.
(And to the SAG-AFTRA strike being similarly and rapidly resolved.)

I think people should be very careful of the asks they send you. Like, this is more-so rambling into your ask box than anything, considering how many asks you have, but y’know.
People can be really excited about a theory or idea they have, they hype it up, get themselves all in on it, and then do the most foolish thing ever: send you an ask about it.
Because isn’t there some sort of thing where, if an author/show runner/etc ends up consciously or subconsciously using a fan’s theory or idea, there’s a chance they could get into trouble with lawsuits or something?
So by sending you an ask about a theory or idea, it makes it less and less probable for it to end up becoming real.
I've pointed this out many times. Yes.
