beyblade metal fight headcanons i came up with 3 AM

Ryuga is a boomer. I have no logical reasoning for this, he just is. Kenta made fun of him a sum total of one time and he somehow has lived to tell the tale.

Outside of Beyblade, Gingka and Kyoya actually consider each other best friends. They overexaggerate their rivalry because they're both nerds but off the stadium they go to McDonalds and make fun of each other. How else do you explain that secret fist bump when Kyoya went to go fight Ryuga, like,,,,you're telling me they AREN'T friends???

Kenta has subconsciously been influenced by Ryuga's snark. He's mostly the same with his energetic, supportive self but piss him off and you will have a very Ryuga-esque remark about how you're an ugly basement dweller. Gingka is confused, Benkei and Madoka are scared but Kyoya thinks it's absolutely hilarious.

Madoka might not be a blader but she took martial arts as a kid so she could literally just beat the shit out of someone messing with her. Like some Beyblade gang could try and mug her and they'd go "lET iT RIp" and then she just steps on their beys and kicks their asses, unfazed. She could have KILLED Rago but she didn't want to steal Gingka's thunder.

The Legendary Bladers have a group chat after the whole nemesis fiasco to keep in touch (Ryuga lives AU). Dynamis is a boomer, Aguma and Ryuga leave everyone on read (except in Ryuga's case, he's also a boomer and doesn't know how to text so he just doesn't), Kenta's too busy to text bc he's teaching Ryuga how to use a phone, Kyoya's being extra as always and trying to start a fight, Gingka sends outdated 2017 memes, King sends cultured memes, Chris is regretting sharing his number to these dorks, everyone is trying their hardest not to cuss because Tithi is right there and Yuki is just staring at his phone like, "this is fine 😀"

During their travels Kenta couldn't help but ramble about a variety of different things about himself and his life and while he thought he was talking to a wall with how Ryuga was seemingly ignoring him, the dragon emperor listened to every word but would rather choke than admit that to ANYONE. Kenta included.

The Dark Nebula stole Ryuga from his real family before indoctrinating him to be the strongest Blader. Ryuto and Ryuga are unaware of each other's existence.

After the whole Fausttm incident, because Toby kept his white hair Masamune and Zeo made a lot of grandpa jokes at his expense (not to hurt him ofc but to just make Toby feel normal about it and that no one's too uncomfortable to joke about it). Toby takes it in stride and even plays along. ("Oh my god Toby, hurry up old hag!" "How DARE you treat your senior citizens this way? You youngens have it too easy nowadays!")

Kyoya needed glasses this whole time but because his ass is all like "Ugh I dont NEED glasses. My vision is perfect you DICKS." he never got them. Madoka and Gingka noticed one day and took him to an optometrist and beat some sense into him. "how the fuck are you gonna Beyblade if you can't even SEE where Leone is you dumb bitch" so he relents. He tries to ask for contacts but by an unfortunate stroke of bad luck, he's apparently very VERY sensitive to them so glasses are the only option. To look cool he does that thing where he holds them in his mouth but no one buys it and calls him out for being a huge dork.

Kyoya doesn't LIKE kids but unfortunately he is a child magnet. def supported by his "i'm destined to be followed by brats forever" comment. but he does end up warming up to Tithi even after the whole "Yo-Yo" thing. He made a crayon drawing of Kyoya and he pretended to hate it, but actually has it framed.

Reiji quits Beyblade for a bit, realising that he just can't find enjoyment in it without associating victory to his worth, but does end up coming back after Kenta convinces him that it can be fun and there is a lot more to it than just winning.

Nile and Masamune are best friends even more so than Nile and Kyoya idc i said so. I personally believe this because sometimes similar personalities don't necessarily make you closer to another person. Don't get me wrong Kyoya and Nile are still very VERY good friends but if Nile had to choose someone to go like idk ice skating with it'd be Masamune. Nile is calm, cool, collected while Masamune is an extra bitch. They both bring something out of each other that no one else can.

The fortune teller jokes Kyoya makes towards Dynamis never stops and one day this man has enough and is like "You know fucking what let me read your palm" and Kyoya's like "lmfao bet" and Dynamis inspects it thoroughly, he furrows his eyebrows and then looks up with Kyoya with intense seriousness and says, "Your destiny is sealed, my friend. You're going to die a very painful (and embarrassing) death soon." Kyoya, poor guy, stares at him with shock and is all like "STFU URE MESSING WITH ME" Dynamis just shrugs and walks off saying, "Let's just say, look both ways before crossing the road in future." and Kyoya, with the logic that Dynamis has predicted the future before, believes it whole heartedly and is freaking the fuck out. Kyoya now is adamant on always looking both ways before crossing the street now. every time Benkei is like "Bro there aren't any cars we can just go" Kyoya looks at Benkei like he just insulted his grandma and goes "NO. ROAD SAFETY LAWS ARE THERE FOR A REASON. I NOW KNOW THIS."

Mei Mei and Chao Xin are literally dumb and dumber best relationship in this show hands down. Like they're both so STUPID i love them so so so much.

Benkei and Gingka are Swifties. I have no explanation for this. I just know they are.

Aguma is actually a really goofy guy if you're really close to him. Bao just always knew Aguma was just a dork which is why he's never afraid of him.

Gingka gave Kyoya a lion plush as a gag birthday gift but jokes on him bc Kyoya actually loved it LMFAO. Now they have this unspoken tradition of giving each other gag birthday gifts bc these dumbasses just really like messing with each other.

This is a comment someone appended to a photo of two men apparently having sex in a very fancy room, but it’s also kind of an amazing two-line poem? “His Wife has filled his house with chintz” is a really elegant and beautiful counterbalancing of h, f, and s sounds, and “chintz” is a perfect word choice here—sonically pleasing and good at evoking nouveau riche tackiness. And then “to keep it real I fuck him on the floor” collapses that whole mood with short percussive sounds—but it’s still a perfect iambic pentameter line, robust and a lovely obscene contrast with the chintz in the first line. so i really have been wanting to do this analysis/thought dump on this

keep reading if you're interested in classical music, twosetviolin, or just want to hear my random ideas on something!

let's start off with some background:

twosetviolin are two australian dudes, brett and eddy, who have a channel about classical music. they're former professional musicians and try to bring classical music to a wider audience through memes and more accessible means, while also staying true to the essence of the music.

at the end of december, they held a world tour virtually; it's been nearly 3(?) years since they've done so because of covid. i unfortunately was busy at the time of the virtual show so i didn't get ticket, but i didn't think i missed out on much until i watched some posted clips of it on youtube.

from what i understand, the storyline of the show was that brett and eddy went throughout time trying to collect these musical era "stones" to save classical music, interacting different composers.

the segment of the show i want to talk about specifically is the tchaikovsky one because i- i have so many thoughts.

for context: tchaikovsky was a russian romantic composer in the mid to late 1800s. he was gay, though he tried to hide it due to persecution. he is most known probably for his ballets, namely the nutcracker and swan lake, but has written a plethora of other compositions.

so, traveling to 1878, brett runs on stage, coming into contact with tchaikovsky, played by eddy. he asks if brett, as his "new composition student" will play a piece he just wrote. humourously, brett pretends by rubbing the sheet music over his head that he magically can memorize it.

and then brett plays.

i read into some music history behind this: mélodie is the third movement of the only works that tchaikovsky wrote for piano and violin. the first movement was supposed to be the second movement of his violin concerto (we'll come back to this) but he didn't feel like it fit, so he kept it as a separate piece.

it's a beautiful melody, of course. the title of the entire piece is called "memory of a dear place" in french, likely a tribute to brailivo in ukraine, where tchaikovsky went on vacation while writing the piece. it's nostalgic and sweet.

and something i especially love about this performance is the way tchaikovsky (eddy) watches brett. once he's done, he states, as though in a daze, "i think i'm in love." when brett inquires, he coughs and shakes it off, pretending he never said it.

but while he's playing, the entranced look tchaikovsky has on his face is so wonderful. he's as much in the moment with the music as brett is, feeling that he truly brings it to life.

then, he asks if brett wants to help him with his violin concerto. brett is likely supposed to be iosif kotek, tchaikovsky's old friend he is said to have been in love with at one point (he was the straight best friend trope rip).

you then get a fun montage of them as they're working on this concerto, playing, goofing off together, and bonding. it's like those dramatic scenes in tv when a character walks into the room with their hair flying and lights all around them. idealistic, charming, and clearly not really meant to be taken seriously.

and this next part is what really drew me in.

they played the concerto.

there's so many layers to this so let's start. first, they have a running gag where one of them plays with the bow while the other holds the violin and does the fingering. they've done it in a couple of videos i believe and in one of their old shows. in the old show, "edwina", one of their characters (just eddy playing a girl in a wig), was playing with brett and a comedic and flirty way.

this was entirely different. it was incredibly intimate and profound. a single spotlight on them, playing the slowest movement of the violin concerto together. i think i managed to capture them so deeply in the music once they got settled into it. there's a beautiful unity there.

another layer: at 2 million subscribers, they agreed to do "drop" a violin concerto, and they've done that at every million subscribers since. brett's planning to do mendelssohn at 4 mil, eddy did sibelius at 3 mil, and can you guess what brett did for their very first drop?

tchaikovsky.

not only is it a nice piece of music to listen to objectively, but they have their own connection to the piece. they've known each other since they were teenagers, played in orchestras together for years, and took this leap to youtube together. they've done it all together, and this piece marked a huge accomplishment for them.

the only thing i can say is to just watch it, you'll understand. there's just something so very intimate about it. of course, in the story, they're in love. and i think something that helps them portray this feeling so well is their own friendship. even though they're romantically involved, they can still draw on those same emotions their characters are having, that same bond. platonic love is equally as important as romantic, not a secondary relationship.

and then they finish. as tchaikovsky gives the bow back, they share a moment, before he quickly turns away, head down, ashamed and scared. it's forbidden.

in tchaikovsky's life, there were many rumors surrounding his sexuality. he even had a fake marriage, which failed and his leaving that led him to writing the concerto.

eddy plays this with such care, it was really emotional to watch him go off in such anguish after such a beautiful moment, because i know myself and many others in the queer community have felt that emotion before.

and then brett tells him, "where i come from [in the future], we think everyone deserves an opportunity at love," or something to that effect.

not only for me as a queer individual was that incredibly moving, hearing that support from one of your favorite creators, but also in the context of the story. if we could go back in time and tell people who were persecuted for being gay and trans that they're okay, they're worthy, and that the future holds hope, that would be really meaningful i think.

i love that this is portrayed through classical music too, something that is often considered elitist and somewhat detached. tchaikovsky was a romantic composer, and big concepts of the romantic era were conflicts between life and death, nature and machinery, and love and hate. the era was grandiose and unapologetic and it's much more colorful than what many think classical music is. tchaikovsky is one of my favorite composers and i think he explores these so well in his music.

so yeah, those were my thoughts. i thought it was extremely well done. i might do more analyses of the other segments of the show if people are interested/if i want to lol but for now that'll be it for me.

i hope you enjoyed and maybe learned a bit more about classical music today :) i would definitely recommend the violin concerto specifically performed by janine jansen - i'll link a spotify album here. just tchaikovsky in general is great. my orchestra actually played his serenade for strings which is just beautiful.

i have to say i actually really loved sour by olivia rodrigo, with it's versatility and honest songwriting, but i'd also throw in there love is not dying by jeremy zucker because that's one i used a lot as background music for planning skam colorado and i know all of the songs on there are really good

well after reading radio silence with you, clementine, i actually really would want to live in the whole oseman universe and just give all these characters a hug because my god

- haydn's symphony no 88 in g major, fourth movement, this one's a nice kind of light and boppy one but i also put it on here because there's a recording of an orchestra playing it being conducted by bernstein where he literally only conducts with his eyebrows!! i just checked and if you just search "bernstein haydn eyebrows" on youtube it should be right there, it's definitely a marvel to witness ahdjaldagdsjgks

- chopin etude op 25 no 9 in g flat, also known as the "butterfly" etude, it's quite short for a "classical" piece but i think it's a good one to sort of show the variety there is in "classical" music to someone who may be put off it just by the genre title alone, it's also a fun and playful one that i think is nice to listen to

- daydreaming by luke faulkner, luke actually has a ton of wonderful original compositions but i pulled out this one because to me it almost sounds like swells of waves on a beach - any of his stuff is really nice sounding but this one especially sits nice on the ear

also can i just say that i'm honored that you think of me when you hear that liszt piece 🥺 i'm trying to figure out how to post audio recordings on here because i might post some of my pieces if any of you are interested - if i do, i'll definitely start with that one just for you :)

my parents would try to get us back to europe to see family every summer that we could which was always nice. it was pretty hard to go back home at the end of every summer but i have really fond memories of spending time with my grandparents, just kind of doing mundane things like shopping or playing in the garden <3

oh goodness, the first that i think of is the night circus by erin morgenstern - i'm actually not a huge fantasy fan usually but the setting is so enchanting and there is an element of mystery involved which i really love.

i also read dig by a.s. king this past winter and i'm still reeling over it, would definitely recommend, you get no more context other than that

so i know one that's always stuck with me is oke by plato: "i am the wisest man alive, for i know one thing, and that is that i know nothing." there's something fascinating about thinking about little we know and how much there is left to explore, and it always motivates me to continue learning.

i also have to put on here an andi mack quote that i never really appreciated at the time but have grown to love, since it's something that i struggled with a lot at andi's age at the time: "i never stood up for myself until today. but it want to again tomorrow, and the day after that." (god i miss this show so much)
