For anyone who hasn't seen them before, Hidden Search Operators are handy tricks you can use when you're either searching or filtering AO3.

summary: string is a generic way of explaining that you can search AO3 for a specific word that appears in a summary. You can do this from the search bar in the header, from the Any Field box at the top of the Advanced Search form, or from the Search Within Results box at the bottom of the filter menu.

Examples:

summary: Bruce

summary: "Bruce Banner"

summary: Bruce OR summary: Banner OR summary: Hulk

You need to put quotation marks around your search term if it is more than one word. The quotes make sure that the site searches for those two words together.

The other two operators listed work best in the Search Within Results box.

expected_number_of_chapters: 1 will return results where every fic has only 1 chapter currently posted.

You can use expected_number_of_chapters: -1 if you want results where every fic has more than 1 chapter currently posted.

otp:true will return results where there is only 1 relationship tag on the fic. If you want results where there are 2+ relationship tags (and no fics with only 1 relationship tag) then you can use otp:false

*me, stoned, tears in my eyes* i just love hilson so much. i love the wa;y they love. i love how they both see each other so deeply, how each of them truly is a mirror for the other in the ways that they wish they weren't. they're both fucked up bastards who love so much. they bring out the worst in each other, but they also bring out the best in each other. the way each of them is both the artist and the muse, the creation and the creator, the wound and the sutures. .....there's an ocean inside each of them and only 10% of it has been explored......the other 90% is just all love for one another so deep it's unfathomable and unplumbable. the way they say everything without saying anything bc they have their own language of sarcasm and obfuscation and looks and malpractice... i love the way they love each other so much that it scares them. the way they're tentative when they're earnest bc this relationship on the knife's edge might just tip and there is no wilson without house, just as there is no house without wilson. just as the muscle is dead and the brother is gone, the beer bottles leave rings and the organ bleats, and wilson needs house. and house needs wilson. and they have each other. they have each other!!!!!!!!!!
