Golf Travel Bags
Golf travel bags make excellent gifts for anyone who enjoys golfing. They allow you to transport your golf clubs safely and without you having to worry about damaging them. They also come in a variety of styles, shapes and colors. So how do you know which one you need? It really depends on who the golf travel bag is for. You can also get yourself a sushi.
If they travel fairly substantial distances with their golf clubs, then you will definitely want to get something sturdy and strong. In this case, I would suggest buying a hard sided golf travel bag which is also known as a golf travel case. This is particularly true if the person travels on airplanes on a regular basis. An advantage of using golf travel cases while flying is airlines will often pickup the cost of replacing any damaged golf clubs if your golf clubs were in one of these protective cases during the flight.
Another advantage is of course the peace-of-mind knowing that your golf clubs should be well protected from any damage during the trip. If you are confident that the person you are buying this gift for does not frequently travel long distances with their golf clubs, then you should be able to get by with purchasing a soft sided golf travel bag. In fact, I would strongly suggest going this route in this case.

Joined push cart mafia… what’s the weather like where you are?
Got my first push cart and walked 9 today. My home course is kind of hilly for some of the beginning. What’s the weather like when you walk? It was 88° by 9am today and I was dying after 9. Granted I’m not in the best shape for walking, but still! Maybe this will be better when it’s in the 70s. I did like having my clubs right with me and walking straight to my ball.

Is it common to allow non-golfers to walk/ride for free?
I always assumed that my girlfriend would have to pay to walk or ride along side me if she wanted to just come hang out for a round because one time we were at a local course and the golf pro made my friend pay even though she was just walking. That course sucks at everything, from course quality to price to the head pro being an asshole about rules. If I went to a normal municipal course, would they typically let me bring my partner along with me for free if they’re not playing?

Do you guys avoid the range before rounds?
I’m a 6 handicap, and I was playing with my buddy who’s a mid 90s guy. We had 30 mins until our tee time and he insisted that we go to the range. I really don’t like going to the range before rounds. I’ll hit a few balls but I really like to find my feel on the course. He was terrible on the range, that bummed him out and for the first 7 holes we were looking for his ball every time. I shot 79 and I hit only a few chips to warm up. It’s almost voodoo for me at this point. Am I insane or are there more like this? 😭

Have you ever had a range sesh where something clicks and then halfway through you totally forget how to swing a club?
Happened to me this morning, was trying out the technique of tucking in my right elbow closer to my body. I was hitting them far and straight, I couldn't believe it. Then all of a sudden, I'm Shanks McGee. I tried to reset and near the end had it coming back, but I still could not hit it the way I was at the beginning. Do I chalk it up to fatigue? Anyone else have a similar experience?

194 yards on the 17th at my home course. Piped a 5 iron straight at the flag which felt like butter.

Improving in golf is such a weird cycle
I’m hitting the ball better than I ever have, putting better than I ever have, chipping better than I ever have, and I’m scoring (by my standards) like absolute dogshit
I’ve gone through a lot of technique/set up/swing changes in the past 7-8 months, and I’m struggling to stay positive
My goal is a + handicap, so I’m willing to throw something that “works” out of the window in order to ensure that in the long term I’ll be the best player I can be
So far I’ve found that the improvement cycle goes something like:
go through swing changes
get comfortable with the swing changes so that you can execute them under pressure and not only on the range
get comfortable with new swing under pressure, so that you can only be evaluating each shot and situation, and not your technique
scores drop
shoot lower scores consistently
get overly ambitious, make the next change that you/your coach believe is the right direction for you
Rinse and repeat
Golf is just one hell of a game, it forces you to actively get worse every time you have to get better
