Took me until about halfway through college before I realized “study” means “play with the material in a variety of ways until you understand it” and not just “read the assigned chapters and do the homework” and I think that probably should have been discussed at some point prior to that.

1) who is/are your comfort character(s)? Annabeth Chase, Rachel Elizabeth Dare, Mark Watney, Katniss Everdeen, Odysseus (yes, the one from the Odyssey. I am a big big fan of Odysseus as portrayed by Jorge Rivera-Herrans in EPIC: the musical and the art by @wolfythewitch !)

31) what type of music keeps you grounded?

Folk, folk pop, acoustic, classical piano & violin, and hits from the 40s to like,, 2010. Also literally anything with tritones. I LOVE TRITONES.

Goodreads! I LIVE on Goodreads.

46) favorite holiday film?

ELF!!! 100%. I, like Buddy, am obsessed with maple syrup and Christmas (secular) cheer. I just feel like elf culture really represents who I am on the inside.

11. What was your favorite book that has been out for a while, but you just now read?

At the time of this ask (read: which would be sometime around the Carboniferous or mid December (?) if my perception of time is to be believed), I think it would be a draw between Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens (2018) and Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimmerer (2003). I lovveeee a good book about A Woman and Her Environment.

12. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?

YES. Bio Design: Nature, Science, Creativity by William Myerws and Paola Antonelli was AMAZING. I had high expectations but it STILL surprised me. Highly recommend this one to anyone in design studies, materials science, architecture, urban planning, or any related discipline. It covers A LOT, and it's AMAZING. Recursion by Blake Crouch. This one simply broke my brain, and I have yet to recover. 13/10 recommend! In by Will McPhail (graphic novel). Would you like to make a new ocean? This book is for you! I sobbed. Big, full-body sobs. This book ALSO broke me but in a different, more dehydrating way. How to Change Your Mind by Michael Pollan. I will read anything Pollan writes, and it is a given that I will love it.
