SHE IS HOME!!!!

She's yelling at me for her chew stick!! She's demanding butt scratches and doing her waggy happy dance!!

The emergency vet said she was eating well and her diarrhea has slowed down significantly and has more substance. Yay!! She's home with her million drugs, and hopefully will continue to improve for the next few days.

We got her into the vet before it got too bad. The dehydration and what not hadn't done any real damage. She bounces back from this kind of thing well.

Heard from Haley's regular vet that her pancreatitis test came back clear. Yay!!

Haven't heard from the emergency vet since this morning but I don't really expect to until closer to 5. At this point she's just staying for the whole 24 hours of fluids and monitoring since we already paid for it. Last time she was at emergency for pretty much the same thing she stayed like 2 and a half days. But the vet this morning seemed pretty sure she will come home today.

I've basically just been waiting all day until I can go get her. I tried to distract myself but I can't seem to. Arthur has been very snuggly ... He's a very emotionally aware little dog, always knows when I need comfort. I want to snuggle Haley right now though.

Haley did well overnight. She ate!! There was no vomiting. The diarrhea slowed down. If she continues doing well today we will get to bring her home this evening. She probably won't come home earlier in the day because we already paid for 24 hrs of hospitalization. But it's good that she'll get lots of fluids.

No calls about Haley overnight so hopefully that means she was okay at the emergency vet.

The vet did call at like 10pm just to go over some things. They did get her to eat, so that's good. I'm hoping the overnight fluids and drugs will have her feeling better enough to come home today.

I truly don't understand why they had me wait several hours at the emergency vet only to send me home and say the vet will call later tonight. Like. You are keeping my dog overnight anyway. Why exactly did I have to stay here.

Like if I could stay here with my dog that would be fine. But they took her away immediately.

At the emergency clinic. They took Haley in right away to unclamp her IV and get her back on fluids. I have to wait a few hours to see the vet to discuss things.

When my husband and I are out for the day or a weekend or something without the girls, we leave them with my parents.

Yeah. Gonna have to figure out what to do with the girls whenever we're gone going forward now that my parents have almost killed Haley.

It's bad. The vet has hospitalized her. They need to give fluids asap. I'll know later today if I can bring her home tonight or if I have to transfer her to emergency.

Arthur was reunited with his sister Rosie at the dog show yesterday. They were twinning!

She beat him in the show ring like she used to beat him at wrestling in the puppy pen lol.

Rosie beat him in the first show. We have a second show this afternoon so we'll see how it shakes out. They are pretty evenly matched in terms of quality BUT Rosie has a professional handler who knows what she's doing, and Arthur has me. Who has no idea what I'm doing.

We want to try to get a photo of the two of them together because their breeder would enjoy it. But handler seems like she's pretty busy ... And also intimidating.

New shears my beloved

They match my grooming toolbox

Gotta bathe and touch up Arthur today before the show tomorrow. My huge order of shampoos and a 4 piece set of decent shears is supposed to arrive today, so I'm holding off on bathing in the hopes it gets here soon. I ordered CC Spectrum 10, White on White, and urine stain remover. Though we may not actually need the stain remover after all because since we've been putting Arthur's "pee pants" on him literally every time he goes in the yard, he hasn't been peeing on himself and his front legs are not yellow. I trimmed his front legs the other day, and I think the hair might have grown out enough that the pee damaged hair was all cut off.

I also got a boar bristle brush and a better slicker. Neither were the really expensive high quality brushes, but they're better than what I have, and tbh I feel like I don't need $200 brushes when the basic $10 brushes have been getting it done for me just fine. But I broke my "unbreakable" slicker recently sooooo hoping the Artero super soft slicker will be somewhat better. I don't have a boar bristle brush at all, and it's supposed to be good for spreading natural oils through the coat, so something to add as a daily routine.

Tbh I am most excited about the shear set I ordered. They're not super fancy, but they seem like a good starter set. And they're pretty lol. They'll be better than my current shears. I'm still using the shitty straight shears that came with my clipper, and literally the cheapest possible thinners. My new set I'll lovingly oil and clean and send away for sharpening when needed. I dived into my savings a little bit to buy them, because they're an investment in my grooming future lol.

Arthur had his annual exam today and now I'm super stressed because the vet is concerned she felt some grinding in one shoulder. Ahhhhh. We're going to do x-rays. He needs one more vaccine in 3 weeks (she will not do 4 vaccines in one day on a smaller dog, and I agree), so when we go back then she is going to feel him again and get another vet to check him for a second opinion. Because we need to decide what x-rays to do. Might do shoulders and elbows and hips.

Anyway. I'm hoping it's nothing. But if there IS a shoulder problem then no breeding for him. Vet thinks it would be something genetic, maybe OCD, rather than a wear and tear injury. Shoulders aren't usually tested in ECS, but if he does have an issue we'll want to let his breeder know, because he has breeding prospect siblings whose owners would want to get their shoulders looked at.

#trying not to be too stressed about it but damn I will be so sad if there's something wrong #I would also have to talk to the vet about what activities would be safe for him if he had shoulder problems ...
