Once when the gaang visits the Fire Nation, they’re all just on the side of too tipsy when Zuko leans in with the most grave expression imaginable.

“Aang,” Zuko says, “This has been… haunting me…. Why did your friends need to suck on those frogs?”

And Aang just gasps, and does not explain the frogs, because he has suddenly remembered that Miyuki is still wanted by the Fire Nation and that just won’t do. So Aang demands that Zuko pardon Miyuki for her crimes, which then gets the rest of the gaang to dogpile on and also demand justice for Miyuki. 

Zuko is willing to hear him out. 

…Zuko is significantly less willing to hear him out when Aang mentions that Miyuki is a cat.

(Zuko finds it difficult to believe that a cat is legitimately wanted by the Fire Nation)

But because they are all the worst, he relents and they all drunkenly stumble down to go find the records of Miyuki’s crimes and write her up a pardon, much to the chagrin of the night-shift archivist.

One more madeleinepost my bad. But I don’t like…excuse his narcissism and it’s effect on others in my madeleine defenseposting. Like he still has a lot to apologize for to several people (especially Angel Cookie) because no matter his motivations he’s still hurt people with his actions. However I feel like it’s unfair to write him off as “borderline villainous and wholly self centered“ AND to write him off as ”himbo who is too dense to consider his actions“. There’s just so much about him we don’t know from the game yet and there’s a lot going on (or at least the potential for there to be a lot going on) behind the scenes with him that makes him more nuanced than either of these characterizations

Good afternoon everyone anyways as a self appointed Madeleine apologist (/hj) I had another Thought

i saw a few posts awhile back somewhere (genuinely don’t know what webbed site) that said something about “Madeleine not being a real warrior/being a PR knight“ (mostly in comparison to Knight bc of Smithy’s Clientele?) and like. This is part of my longer essay I’ve been procrastinating on writing but we have no proof that he doesn’t actually fight battles?? Madeleine’s description in the game specifically says he “hails from a peaceful Republic” or something but like. Who or what is keeping it peaceful then. Because Dark Enchantress doesn’t strike me as the type to just….leave a place alone. If it does not need to be actively kept peaceful then why did they need to appoint a Knight Commander. Why do they presumably need knights for him to command. God [clenches fist] I wish I knew more about Madeleine cookie

Side note I cannot stress enough that we know nothing about House Madeleine and the pressures his “family’s influence“ is putting on him

sometimes my best ideas come from when i am groggy and have just woken up, because this afternoon i woke up from a nap with an idea on potential uses of ovenbreak affection points (AP) in kingdom

i was thinking something like genshin’s (don’t come for me, i am an ex genshin player after all) friendship level story thing where you can unlock certain stories when you reach a certain amount of AP

i had this idea after reading alataurum’s “light’s marionette” on ao3 because they had an AMAZING depiction of espresso’s backstory. i really enjoyed it and damn i really wish it were canon

anyway, perhaps after reaching a certain story number with two characters with a bond (for example, you’ve unlocked story 4 with both espresso & madeleine) you can unlock joint stories about them, like say, an incident that happened in the kingdom with the characters.

overall this was just me rambling yet again, because i’d already started writing up my own backstories for the characters i love (mainly espresso & maddie)

maybe that’s why i like the characters so much? the flexibility from the unconfirmed canon on devsis’ part. it enables one to freely headcanon without much thought.

my favourite hobby is deepsearching through the kr wiki (namu.wiki) whilst only being able to read the korean characters

today i did some ‘research’ on my beloved espresseleine

i was not at all disappointed by my findings from today! i did not know most of these considering i haven’t been on esmd socmed a lot so please do not bash me if you already know these ^^

• devsis made an official incorrect quotes maker thing for the line covid stickers for esmd after the high demand

• [SPOILER??]

espresso & maddie both have unused (as of now 👀) voice lines. a few examples are espresso’s “oftentimes i would practise roasting in a dimly lit attic” and maddie’s line along the lines of “nobody is better than me in the military training academy”

• the gingerbrave dev account on twitter replied to a reply on the sleep comic saying that espresso hit gingerbrave’s head with two coffee beans for trying to take his coffee away

• the same account also said something like “since they often stick together, maybe they’re good friends?” in reference to maddie & espresso

• the wiki pointed out that madeleine signs autographs for other cookies on a piece of plain paper but in this comic he specially signs his own picture and gifts it to espresso. make of it what you will, but i find it a small detail that seems quite funny. the wiki theorises that maddie thinks of espresso a bit differently than he does to others

• espresso’s eye slit becomes diluted and paler in his shocked sprite

• apparently, people think that maddie & espresso’s relationship have a lot of foreshadowing. and i mean, a lot. even sourcing the voice actors’ words! (just so you know; nam dohyeong (남도형) and park yohan (박요한) are madeleine and espresso’s va’s respectively!)

• there was a promotion very recently done for matching official espresseleine merchandise. their voice actors were called in to promote it. (now, i’m against shipping real people, but even i got surprised seeing madeleine’s va jokingly go for what seems to be a kiss while holding the picture from their story quest in the event)

now i shall crawl back into my cave until, say, next few months and see if we get new esmd content for me to share

ngl i wish there'll be a side quest for madeleine cookie again where he'll have his redemption arc because i just dont like him being an absolute asshole to other cookies !! he couldve been such a good cookie too but hes so full of himself that it gets annoying skdbsksjs

now i keep on thinking about a side quest where espresso will be the one to knock some sense into that big headed idiot and then redemption arc will ensue where maddie apologizes to everyone and he'll do his best to get rid of the old ugly mindset he has and help the other cookies
