I saw this cool thing called the alexandrite effect. It refers to the apparent change of color in certain minerals. For Nova, this transformation starts from the inside and moves out. It has even affected some of her appearance and added some other abilities. Her eyes can see infrared radiation, and she can grow a prehensile tail. She can turn these on and off by command. I imagine that they made plans to go somewhere, but something went wrong, and they had to make new plans. They decided to go for a walk. It had to be a short walk since Nova didn't have the right shoes to be on the trail. But she insisted on walking some more. She eventually got tired, and Kaito carried her back. Princess style. He knew that she wasn't tired. She only said that to get her way, but he didn't mind. She felt guilty for lying and apologized the rest of the way. He didn't put her down till they were back on the paved road. They got something sweet to eat before heading back home.
