the way i’m going about this is

first person (full colony): we/us

first person (multiple colonies): all we/all us

first person (partial colony): these/them

first person (singular): this/it

first person (child): i/me

second person (full colony): you

second person (multiple colonies): all you

second person (partial colonies): those/them

second person (singular): that/it

second person (child): it

third person (single colony): they/them

third person (multiple colonies): all they/ all them

third person (partial colony): those/them

third person (singular): that/it

third person (child): it

second or third person has to be context sensitive, i guess. their actual language has distinctions though. a bit clunky but translation is like that sometimes i guess

#speculative biology #this also causes problems addressing plural folk naturally if you’re in the US but too northern to say yall and too southern to say youse #conlanging is an option but not if you’re playing one in a ttrpg. which i will be when i gm this troika game

turns out discovering troika was all it took to propel me into writing again and now i have about 60% of a compatible game written including 36 backgrounds, rules for procedural dungeon, item, and encounter generation, and The Worm.

and that’s just what i have written down! i still need to finish an expanded magical mishap table and qud-style mutations
