i will properly revisit this post soon but in light of splatoon 3’s release: maika is an unabashed Big Man stan.

cafe stile and how they play splatoon:

maika: usually sticks to basic shooter weapons (especially fond of the splattershot jr. and the aerospray) and almost exclusively plays turf war. doesn’t really pay attention to gear stats, picking clothes that just look nice. only tries to attack if provoked. keeps things simple with the long-haired inkling girl :) doesn’t play ranked all that often so she currently sits at C+ rank. stans callie ❤️ favorite ranked mode is rainmaker

kaho: has 100%’d both the main campaign and octo expansion and she wears that golden toothpick with pride! usually plays as an octoling boy because they’re cute :) mainly sticks to turf war but goes on the WARPATH when playing ranked (esp in splat zones. girl gets SERIOUS about dem zones). always has Optimal gear for any mode (even if it results in her looking like she raided a donation bin). usually mains rollers and dualies and is at a comfortable A- rank. stans marie 💚

mafuyu: exclusively plays brellas when in turf war and switches over to splatlings when in ranked (esp. the nautilus). has at least one (1) piece of pure gear. hates playing clam blitz (nevermind the B+ rank). almost exclusively wears the schoolgirl gear sets and almost exclusively plays as an inkling. meanwhile she’s obsessed with salmon run, currently sitting at profreshional 400.

miu: Completely Addicted To The Explosher. usually harmless in turf war but is a MENANCE in tower control. expect a revenge splat and a taunt or two. often seen grinding for new gear abilities in turf war and salmon run. usually plays as an octoling girl (but switches to the inkling girl (or sometimes boy bc she loves the hipster hairstyle) on rare occasions). currently S+3 ranked! stans pearl 💖

hideri: kaho got her into the game :))) exclusively plays as an octoling girl, has since never switched back after she completed the expansion. skipped girl power station and refuses to retry and get the true mem cake. mains the kensa sloshing machine and E-liter (much to kaho’s chagrin). fell in love with the smallfries and absolutely refuses to touch salmon run as a result. usually wears pearl’s amiibo gear set (or at least one piece of it) and has at least one pure MPU gear on at all times. always attempts to be the first to grab the rainmaker (and usually dies). currently an S rank :) she is not above squid partying. stans marina 💚

dino: inkbrush main, inkling boy, always has at least one (1) piece of kensa gear. has yet to 100% hero mode (only did enough to unlock the hero brush and hasn’t touched it since). actually likes clam blitz (and mafuyu thinks he’s weird bc of it). currently at A rank. also stans callie

akizuki: X Rank. exclusively plays as an octoling boy and slowly working towards 100%ing both campaigns. actually breezed through most of the harder stations (and eventually gave into hideri begging him to complete girl power station for her). “goo tuber my beloved.” wears the fresh fish gear set when playing with the others (mostly bc it freaks kaho out). usually yelling at everyone to get on the goddamn tower goddamnit. also a marina stan 💚

maika: heads up: if you try to make a candle with food coloring, the food coloring will just sink to the bottom of the glass, and when the flame eventually reaches the bottom, all the food coloring will catch fire and become one giant tall flame that you cannot possibly blow out and the glass will start to crack and then you'll throw your tea on it in a panic and them the extremely hot food coloring will boil and sizzle horribly and then the glass will shatter.
