listening to a Just the Zoo of Us episode about cuckoos and remembering watching Vivarium one halloween and being like. skill issue. rip to that family but im different.

if i were trapped in an endlessly looping suburb with a child that, though uncanny and demanding, had clearly demonstrated the capability for affection and the potential for empathy, i would simply build a healthy, loving relationship with it so when its spooky scary parents lured it away to teach it its alien parentage, i would be able to talk openly with it about what was happening, and the film would become a poignent tragedy about a child trying to merge two fundementally irreconcilable heritages instead of a horror story that was basically 'hey what if WE had brood parasites would that be fucked up or what'
