"mama kupila traktora" ("mom bought a tractor") is a reference to lukashenka's gift to putin for his anniversary - a tractor

"trajna-nina, armageddon-nona" - nonsensical, nursery-rhyme-like fragment with the word "armageddon" in it (because for SOME PEOPLE, armageddon (= nuclear threats) is just like a child-play)

"mama ljubila morona" ("mom kissed a moron") - "mama" is actually Mother Russia. I don't think I need to explain who's the moron.

"mama, ja se idem igrat', mama, idem u rat ("mom, I'm going to play, mom, I'm going to war") - self-explanatory

"onaj mali psihopat, mali, podli psihopat" ("that little psychopath, that little, vile psychopath") - if you know who's the moron, it's also self-explanatory

their costume - mixing military-style uniforms with make-up and skirts - actually makes fun of russia's anti-lgbt+ policies :)

anyway vote for Croatia y'all

They were okay with a beige ballad, they were okay with a girl talking about the blippity unicorn power (while her country is literally oppressing and bombing Palestine, and the girlie supports the army doing the bombing, mind you, which should be quite antithetical to all the support to Ukraine ESC were professing) they were okay with Italy unproblematic (although grand) ballad

BUT DON'T YOU DARE MENTION CROATIA

And I don't even want to discuss how sus it is with Austria being completely ignored.

This is like,,,, a phantom blog so I don't even know why I'm reblogging this but,,,,,,

From Italy, I wanted to thank you a big fat lot for the Communist grandpas in drag. Made me so happy for one entire week, and I will keep streaming. Their song was genius, I want more.

Nobody was ready, that was obvious. People like their beige, mediocre songs when they could have wonderful satire pieces, together with an extremely capable and entertaining band, and incredible performance.

Thank you Croatia for gifting us this absolute gem. Not many understood it, but I assure you, the right people did.

Because every year Eurovision gives me a bunch of artists I usually wouldn't find myself and they fill my soul for the rest of my life. Like how will I ever find Kaarija if there wasn't Eurovision? How would I know about two lovely lesbian Edgar Allan Poe stans? How would I fall in love with witchy cult from Czechia? Obviously I know about Let 3 because I'm from Croatia but how would you, citizens of the world find your communist grandpas in drag if not on Eurovision?

So I just literally don't care generic pop song won, there are artists who won my heart this week.
