For anyone who hasn't seen them before, Hidden Search Operators are handy tricks you can use when you're either searching or filtering AO3.

summary: string is a generic way of explaining that you can search AO3 for a specific word that appears in a summary. You can do this from the search bar in the header, from the Any Field box at the top of the Advanced Search form, or from the Search Within Results box at the bottom of the filter menu.

Examples:

summary: Bruce

summary: "Bruce Banner"

summary: Bruce OR summary: Banner OR summary: Hulk

You need to put quotation marks around your search term if it is more than one word. The quotes make sure that the site searches for those two words together.

The other two operators listed work best in the Search Within Results box.

expected_number_of_chapters: 1 will return results where every fic has only 1 chapter currently posted.

You can use expected_number_of_chapters: -1 if you want results where every fic has more than 1 chapter currently posted.

otp:true will return results where there is only 1 relationship tag on the fic. If you want results where there are 2+ relationship tags (and no fics with only 1 relationship tag) then you can use otp:false

Lae'zel's character and her entire situation at the beginning of the game becomes so much more funny when you find out she's 22. It makes so much sense. Imagine you're 22 and you're exposed to this dangerous toxin or chemical or something - but not to worry, you learnt that this can be easily fixed, you just need to dial 911 real quick. Common knowledge. Everyone knows that. You learnt that in kindergarten, it's up there with fire alarm drills.

But the people you're stuck with have no concept of modern medicine and when you say "let's go to the hospital" they will say shit like "i think they kill people at the hospital" and "we should ask this swamp lady" or "this guy over there told me about this homoeopathic healer kind of guy but he got abducted" or "this random bard wants to help" and "I'm not going to dial 911 because I don't want the government to know my home address" or "maybe we should consider a deal with Satan". And then a bunch of them KEEP consuming the chemical because it makes them "stronger". One guy might explode for unrelated reasons. You have a few days before this situation is getting critical and suddenly they're solving crime and doing general charity for the community.

And FOR SOME REASON you still try to help these idiots and you STILL want to help them get the cure even though they all keep insisting the "doctors" at the "hospital" might try to "kill them" and they don't have insurance. And you keep telling them to just. go. to. the. hospital. before the time runs out and you all die very horribly of a very treatable condition.

And also you're 22 in a foreign country and you're responsible for shepherding this gaggle of idiots who are all ranging anywhere from 24 to 240 years old.

I actually finished the last chapter of Time To Say Goodbye tonight! As impossible as that sounds xD Now, there is just the mess of an epilogue to fix, sow together and turn into something worth reading. For those still wanting to read the ending to Din and Corin's journey; hang in there! And to celebrate; a small snippet!

“I can teach you how to use that.” Raga suddenly says and Corin's attention flutters over to her and finds she's talking to Barthor, who is still clutching his new jetpack. Behind them, Paz is busy examining his own gift, lost in whatever he's discovering there.

“There are no words in any known or forgotten language that can truly express how strongly that is not going to happen.” Barthor replies, sounding like having Raga teach him how to use the jetpack is his worst nightmare.

“I can help you.” Din offers, far too innocently to be anything but scary.

“Also a hard no.” Barthor grumbles. “I've seen you with a jetpack. I've broken enough bones in my life time, thanks.”

Din huffs with offense while Raga laughs and Corin observes them with a weird sense of envy. It must have been wonderful to grow up in the Covert with other children instead of being alone and having to constantly move between all sorts of army bases and space stations.

With great excitement I can finally unveil: Glass Roses!

This is my year long student film, with Echo the Dragon and Harper the glassblower learning to communicate and get along. Best enjoyed with sound as it has a custom score.

The story concept was mine and I got to be the art director and story lead on it. I did most of the animation on this, I designed Echo the dragon, and gave feedback and direction on color palettes, layouts, and VFX. My awesome team pulled out some awesome work and overall I think our final film is absolutely stellar.
